  1. First..thank you gslx4s and OffTheBeatenPath for your continued assistance. As the wheels have been rebalanced...and I am assuming that they do know what they're doing here...the problem is obviously not a simple 'fix'. Ditto with an alignment (not to OffTheBeatenPath...this was done to Lexus LX470 specs and they did not give me the 'numbers'). Though the tremor does yet exist, it is vastly improved. Not perfect, but I'm beginning to think that they just think I'm 'too picky' and that that is the way this SUV handles. As mentioned, I did drive another LX470 off the new car lot and that one, too an sadly, had the same 'flutter' in the wheel. And, seriously, the flutter/tremor/shake is not horrible, but annoying for this quality, luxury SUV. To respond to OffTheBeatenPath... I don't know if they tried the front to back tire rotation. As for when this happens...it does NOT happen while driving at slower speeds. It is most apparent in the 65 mph range and does seem to be enhanced on different road surfaces. Quite honestly, I can't tell you the difference between asphalt, blacktop, concrete, or a combo surface. The AVS is centered, pointing to the front of the car...and I believe the Lexus person was with Customer Service and not a Master Tech. I have not contacted the dealer since the alignment but intend to contact Lexus directly again and request that a Master Tech, if that is not who drove the car, drive it. I had been told when I first got the car that this was 'inherent' and would work itself out with mileage (can you believe THAT !?!)...and I've been hoping that that would be the case at this point (not!). All of this has just taken way too much time and energy and I'm almost...not quite!...ready to just let go of the issue...which is, I think, what Lexus is hoping for. We shall see and I will keep you posted. Thanks again AND certainly, if you have any thoughts, please let me know....
  2. Here's the update on this issue....Lexus has changed the tires to Michelins, re-balanced the wheels, and did some other techy thing to the wheels/tires (rephased the tires). Though much better, the problem was definitely still there. BUT, as this simply should not be with this high-end vehicle, I called again and Lexus sent a Rep to drive the car. First we drove my LX470. I COULD feel and see the tremor in the wheel...but the Rep said he could NOT and that what I was seeing and feeling was 'natural' road feel (he claimed that our Florida highways are full of rock and not smooth...c'mon now!). THEN, we drove another new LX470 and IT HAD THE PROBLEM TOO...though the Rep claimed that that, too, was 'natural'! But, he agreed that the alignment was off...authorized a re-alignment...and I just hoped that that would 'do the trick'. I gave him and the service manager the specs from 'offthebeatenpath' (THANK YOU!)...and they both kind of 'rolled their eyes'. They DID do the alignment last week...to what specs I am not sure. Bottom line...the tremor is better, slight even, BUT THERE and it REALLY annoys me. My gut on this is that there IS an issue with this car...an issue that perhaps other service techs can fix but my dealership cannot. I am just simply appauled that a car of this caliber...A LEXUS!...rolls off the lot with this problem AND Lexus would like me to believe that that's the way it's supposed to be. I will try dealing with Lexus Customer Service again...but I just think that they will keep putting me off, as did their Rep....(and, no, I'm NOT too picky about this!) I would love to hear what gslx4s's service department did to fix this problem....and appreciate gslx4s and offthebeatenpath's reponse! Any further assistance would be most appreciated.
  3. I have a new '03 LX 470. When I drove it out of the dealership, a mere month ago, it had a severe high speed shake. I called the dealer and they rebalanced the wheels...but the problem, though better, still existed. I ended up calling Lexus Customer Service and they authorized changing the tires from the factory Dunlops to Michelins. Basically, the general vibration and slight tremor exists at all speeds and is most visible in the steering wheel at 65 mph. The Service Manager has driven the car and agrees that there is a problem...and though it will go back AGAIN (thank goodness for loaners), he really has 'no clue'. SO...has anyone experienced this vibration/tremor/steering shake in an '03 LX 470...and, if so, can they fix this???????? Thanks.... Please post a reply and have it emailed to me from this site....
