  1. to start open a cold beer ok seriously now open the center console and you will find the little carpet there pull it up find 2 bolts pull out the rear ashtray see if any are in there pop off the little peice of plastic under the hand brake this is what i can remember from my 94 i know it is a different car but some parts are bound to be the same basic layout
  2. a harness is just a large amount of wires with a plastic coupler or sheath to connect with another set the sensor sometimes may not give a code as the ecu will not register the engine turning and therefore think that the starter is not engaging for whatever reason so it think nothing out of the ordinary whre is the sensor and how hard to replace i really have no answer for your year and engine ,sorry the techs at lexus should narrow it down rather easy with a scan tool when they turn it over it will register multiple readinings of positions and sensors for the engine tell us what they find
  3. i thin k that there is a u shaped clip on the shifter that has to be removed first i think the whole assembly may have to be lifted up to get it out call lexus and see how much it is to fix the bulb then they will tell you why it is so expensive if it involves removal of the center console
  4. the reason the antenna is screwed is because the plastic track is broken inside the mast buy a new one but do it before you change the deck as the only way i know to change a anntenna is to hold down the radio button as you turn the key forward then it pops out plus you have to get the rest of the plastic out easy to repalce you also need to remove ( by unscrewing)the chrome bezel for it to come off about 20 bucks from the dealer also to make an aftermarket deck work you have to run the lines to under the passenger seat as this is where all of the speaker wires go to the stock amp located there
  5. this may sound odd and i have no idea where it is or price but these odd problems usually end up being the crank position sensor i guess you have tried looking for loose harness already
  6. well it sounds like it works fine but when it stops cold air ,is the ac clutch still engaging as in do you still hear the clicking every few seconds of it engaging you may have to run the car and listen for it hood open to see what it sounds like working second idea if the cluch is still engagin when there is still hot air then it is going to be a venting issue of the flaps not switching to cold air inside the dash could either be a vaum or electric motor problem then tell us what you find must be nice to need air conditioning this time of year :(
  7. i can get one from tsunami http://www.tsunami1.net/
  8. hmm thanks for the info i never knew it changed i guess i have never looked into the vvt engines as i don't have one later
  9. the 1mz-fe engine in all 94 and newer es 300's all are a non interferance engine meaning that if the belt breaks the valves cannot touch the pistons causing damage i have seen some cars go to 200km without changing the belt it can go 140 km easy also would it cost more if it broke no just the real pain in the !Removed! of it doing it when you didn't want it and a tow fee unless you have lexus roadside( i do ,they pay for a tow to any lexus dealer unlimited milage, also trip interuption reimbursements) i know a a guy at lexus who did mine for $250 canadian for changing the belt and water pump as they both have to come off in the job about 125 for parts i had my belt changed at lexus once it cost me 700 for just the belt you can go to toyota also as it is the same engine as the camry
  10. 29 wow that seems low but i am no lexus engineer they know what they are doing when they make them i use 35-40 depending on the max of the tires if doing long distances on a highway i up them to max psi saves a hell of a lot of gas almost got from Toronto to nyc queens on 1.25 tanks of gas in a 1990 lumina apv the tires don't heat up much from stopping and going like in traffic so it won't be an issue of safety
  11. i have the manuals for my 94 es it is three volumes cost about 300 canadian it is worth its weight in gold and they are damn heavy funny as i said before is i have had really no use for them it should also be avail still at the dealer and as you car is only different in a few cosmetic ways to my 94 should be the exact same since we share the same engine and options
  12. motor vac ,motor vac, motor vac, that is all i can say find someone near you get it done and kiss your bad mileage and rough idle away it uses high pressure to clear fuel lines and injestors manifold and chambers definatly amazing cost is $125 canadian ( more exchange for steve lol) ok it is about $75 usdollars
  13. hey zeta try removing the whole thing and put it back in it is one peice front to back i'll check to see if i have my old ones i changed mine and made no difference actually they were just as good
  14. the actual root of the problem may have been the alternator not keeping the battery at proper voltage works ok sometimes but if it is left at idle it doesn't keep up the voltage 14.4 it DROPS TO 11.3
  15. you didn't say the year but i am guessing 92-96 ones i don't really know about other ones anyway you have to pull it toward the front of the car for the 3rd brake light to be removed from the parcel shelf you also have to take the rear seats out to get the actual parcel shelf cover off the 3rd brake light has 2 clips and is a real P.O.S. to remove it is the worst design by toyota besides the y exhaust pipe and acess to rear spark plugs on 1mz-fe's
  16. i replaced them in my 94 the real issue isn't as much the weatherstrip but the window it comes from opening and closing the door by the window it moves it out of alignment you need to get it put back to spec i replaced my strips for about 70 each i think from the dealer real easy to do no aftermarket company makes this type and generic ones aren't the same as they have a speacial design i actually use endurance tire dressing on mine it leaves a thin film on the edge but it also shows where it isn't contacting well and seal great plus it is made to condition rubber i payed lexus to adjust my window once they did it and it got worse so next time i will do it myself the sunroof has this whistle as well but it uses shime to readjust rather than a regualr bolt and nut hope this helps
  17. the all highway is before the exhaust and was all highway went to ohio from toronto no stopping sorry to confuse so with the exhaust it might have gotten better
  18. 94 es 300 with a few mods 600km a tank premium gas mixed highway/local 1000 km all highway 450km all local
  19. i think the options you are talking abouit are dealer programming basically have to go to them and they hook up a tool that gives options to be changed you have the seperate key fob no the one with the buttons on the key?
  20. ok i am part of as many Ontario based groups that will put up with me isimpressions and toyotanation are a few they meet in mississauga every 2nd wednesday of the month at 8 PM in the krispy Kreme parking lot in mississauga Mavis and Brittania i am usually the only lexus there for the monthly meets will update this when i find out more on the big ones
  21. hey guys and thanks for the welcome :D i didn't think the instances mentioned previously were worth commenting on in a public forum then and it probably isn't now the world is full of free opinions and everyone has a right to them but that is usually what they are worth (nothing=free) the only funny part is i was told i was paranoid because that person would disect(<--is this spelled right ) my post negativly on every part anyway feel free to disagree with me i would love to feel important by increasing my post # to answer it
  22. wow i was just in london a few months ago never knew that they had outlawed remote starters(almost brought one over for my cousin) i can't live without mine my 94 does have the stock alarm (as well as another aftermarket one )and the volume knob is beside the power mirror switch on that little rectangular piece of plastic maybe it is because we have a cold weather kit also which includes the headlight washers and heated mirrors my cousin has a 93 i think from the states and it has a little switch instead of a knob on that piece 95-96 in Canada all have the knob there ,also shows it in the owners manual my car has this very tinny elctronic chirp when i arm or disarm but doesn't flash the lights
  23. no beep? mine does beep pr chime if you will on my 94 even has a little volume control for it
  24. it all depends where you live and drive i am in toronto canada the south most part of the country i do lots of highway and have a remote start so the car all ways gets a good warm up first i use 5-50 in the summer and 0-30 in the winter i put about 20,000km a year and change it twice a year spring and fall (that reminds me i should change it this week ) i only use full synthetics as you can't tell how much ratio wise is syn or regular from refining so why pay for it if it might be just 10% i don't know so i stick with the better of the 2 hope this helps
  25. if you have a 96 es then you already have keyless entry i guess you bought the car second hand and don't have a manual or original keys?
