  1. What size (diameter) is the opening? Are you referring to the center console circular opening? If so, you may be able to use a foam ring. Most cupholder adapters are meant to adapt a large drink cup or hiking-type water bottle (32-oz) to a smaller opening. Yours is the reverse - large opening to accommodate a typical 16.9 oz water bottle. At least, that's how I interpret your question.
  2. The first thing I do when I buy a vehicle is to review the owner's maintenance schedule which may be separate from the owner's manual. There are often two schedules, one for standard and severe duty driving. As Mie mentioned, frequent short trips and stop & go driving tend to require severe duty schedules. Since I make sure to combine trips or add a 10 mile highway drive to one short trip, I use the standard maintenance schedule. I change my oil at 5000 miles which can take over one year, since I am semi-retired. Brake fluid is typically replaced when brake pads are replaced but that is not needed for many years. The engine and air filters are checked every 10,000 miles. OEM Lexus, Wix, and Purolator make great filters. The shop to which you took your car should look up your maintenance requirements before they make suggestions. This is why it is important that you know as much as you can, ahead of time. Even dealerships will sometimes recommend service that is not listed in the owner's manuals. It's like taking a dog to a veterinarian. I look at their $500 list of recommended items and select only those that are relevant. Feel free to do that with auto repair shops. They often prey on the customer's lack of knowledge. Side note: I have an Aunt who is 97. Often our conversations involve automotive service because yes, she still drives and is as "sharp as a whip". 🙂
  3. That's good to know, Lindsey! It is good that your vehicle is so new. "wrappers" don't like to apply wrap on vehicles with chipped or otherwise damaged paint. Apparently, any scratch or chip geometry is magnified by the wrap layer.
  4. That is a big piece of equipment! When working in Chengdu, China, there was a company, right behind the one in which I was working, that made massive cranes. I used to stop for a minute or two to watch them testing them.
  5. Continental PureContact LS tires tested tread life (Consumer Reports outside-tested) is 75,000 miles (if rotated every 5000-6000 miles). These are categorized as "performance all-season" tires. There is a category for Ultra High-Performance tires but that is probably not necessary for an ES. Now if you'd like even higher mileage in the Performance All-Season category, Michelin CrossClimate2 tires are rated for 85,000 mile life. If cost is your main concern General Altimax 365 AW tires are also recommended with a tread wear life rating of 60,000 miles. Of course, you'd have to check to see if these manufacturers make tires in your size.
  6. Les, I didn't see those tires in any of the all-season categories in my Consumer Reports' 2022 Annual Buying Guide. Then again, I've never owned a vehicle on which top-rated tires were installed as OEM. We have Continental PureContact on the RX, Pirelli P Zeros on the Mazda 3, and Continental ExtremeContacts on the MX5. The bottom of the barrel in the CR magazine includes Nitto and Falken tires.
  7. That looks like the anti-reflective coating. Some Lexus vehicles had this issue but I'd suggest you show it to a Lexus service manager to see if they will replace it at reduced or no cost. 2014-15 Lexus Display Screen Issue | News | Cars.com
  8. I believe Audi service techs use walnut shells for cleaning carbon buildup on DI 2.0 engines, every 60,000 miles. This is partially why I don't own an Audi.
  9. If you check battery voltage while the engine is running, what do you see?
  10. You're welcome, Don. My guess is that it will like Sirius XM - free for a pre-disclosed period of time and then payment required to continue service afterward. Now I believe BMW tried this with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but received plenty of negative feedback from customers.
  11. I've been researching car wraps for a while, possibly for a future body color swap when I eventually get a new car. Apparently, wraps last about 3 years because if a wrap is left on too long, it may be very difficult to remove it. This is true with many types of tapes, even those with very weak adhesion. So before you have a wrap done, I suggest discussing this with the "wrapper".

  13. It looks like RX400h vehicles do not have this issue. I cannot find any complaints about it.
  14. Les, are you sure that a new hybrid Lexus cost $5000 to $6000?😏 We've had our RX400h for more than 17 years and now have over 133,000 miles on it. In some ways, maintenance is a bit more costly than a non-hybrid but the much higher fuel mileage in city driving more than offsets that slightly higher maintenance cost. Our brakes were done at about 120,000 miles. Most of the other requirements are the same as those for the RX350. Some RX400h owners have over 250,000 miles on their original battery packs. We currently average 24 MPG for a combination of city and highway mileage - a drop of 1 MPG since new. Also, Consumer Reports has consistently given the RX line "much better than average" reliability ratings throughout the years. A quick review of the Acura TLX reliability ratings in CR shows that overall, they are also very reliable. However, their weak spot has been minor transmission issues for 2015, 17, and 19 model years. Feel free to ask me any other questions regarding the user experience.
  15. What happens when you turn off the vehicle and then restart it? Was the vehicle sitting in the sun for hours without a windshield cover in place?
  16. How often and how many miles do you drive per trip? If your trips are not long enough, what you describe is not surprising.
  17. You may want to search for an auto repair shop on yelp.com and then compared ratings.
  18. Hello, Doug. You may want to take a look at this page: Lexus RX AC blower motor not working - causes and diagnosis (wheelsjoint.com)
  19. So the car in question has approximately 60% more miles than the one I referenced, I think it's critical to verify the maintenance that was done and compare that to the maintenance that is required for that year and model.
  20. What year is the car (2006?) A 2008 IS 250 with manual transmission and 100,000 miles on the odometer sells for approximately $14,000 here in California.
  21. There are a number of websites for OEM Lexus parts and assemblies. You may want to look at one or more and search for seat assembly part numbers for various Lexus vehicles. Here is an example. The seat assemblies are near the bottom of the page, since the part/assembly titles are listed in alphabetical order. FRONT SEAT & SEAT TRACK. 2007 Lexus IS 250 A/T | Lexus Parts & Accessories Online
