  1. :( buts thats the hard way :( :D so - which pad should I use to apply the wax, and more importantly, how do I get it out of the tub and onto the pad?
  2. I used my new PC for the first time properly this week. Very happy with it :D Polished my fathers car, and it came up sooooo well - was very happy. But - I couldn't wax it properly. I was using P21S. I applied it by hand, and then tried to buff it off using a buffing bonnet. But - it did not come off very cleanly at all, the buffer was leaving quite nasty marks on the surface. They looked a bit like the ones below - except no where near as bad what was I doing wrong? was it because I used too much wax (I didn't really use much at all though) should I have taken the wax off by hand, and just used the bonnet to buff it up? should I have applied the wax with the PC (if so - with what pad?) I managed to "fix" it by buffing it for AGES - it eventually all came clean, but it took a long time. no pics sorry - I am a crpa photographer, and they were all too washed out to be worth showing
  3. I am putting some different emblems on - will be revealed shortly ;)
  4. sweet. I have a can of isopropyl alcohol - that should do the trick nicely.
  5. How do you get the badges off a GS? Hair drier and dental floss sound good. How about the central ( L ) - any wholes, or is that held on by glue? I intend to use masking tape as place holders so the new ones go in exactly the same place.
  6. Steve, heard a few people (like Sharad below) who quite like the idea of this - but get a bit peeved with living with it day to day. Does the ES have memory seats? If so - use the second position so it is exactly the same as the first, except with the mirrors titled down. Then, when you want them titled - just shift to P, and hit 2. Once you finish parking, hit 1 again ;)
  7. I know I am biased - as I have a GS. But - my father has a '96 LS, and I have driven it a fair bit (its sat outside my house right now while I detail it for him). They are beautiful cars - I would not say anything else. BUT - the MKII GS is a "better" drive (IMHO), in that it is a more direct drive, better feel for the road etc. The MKIII LS is too light and floaty for my liking - a very nice ride, but not "involved" enough for me. Now - I've not driven an ES, so i don't know what sort of drive you are used to. But - this thread was not giving you enough options - so I had to throw at least one more car in the mix - just to make things a bit harder
  8. I have a MKII 430 mate - not the new one. I'm also in the UK, obviously Lexus UK supply different tyres you dodged the PICS issue mate - lets see some pics of your new car :D
  9. pics? PICS?? :D my 430 came with Pirelli Pzeros fitted. Changed em last week for Goodyear Eagles F1 GS-D3. They are a lot better, more grip, and quieter ;)
  10. looking good AJ ;) that second pic looks like what would happen if you parked up in some of the worse parts of Liverpool (except it would also be propped up on 4 bricks!) :D
  11. You take care Josh ;) your membership will still be here waiting for you
  12. nitrogen in a road car's tyres is snake oil. buy a decent tyre guage and test your tyre pressure's regularly. not only does it mean you don't have to worry about what you fill them with, but it lets you check you tyres for abnormal tyre wear at the same time ;)
  13. Jon, I spoke to manufacturer of one of these products in the UK. He told me that the teflon does not actually bond to the paintwork, instead it acts as a catalyst to the chemical reaction that got the product to bond to the paintwork.
  14. first impressions are good - they are quieter than the Pirelli's. not had any wheelspin yet. probabaly too soon for a qualified answer though.
  15. just got my transformer (so the PC will work with UK flavour electricity), and tried it out. Which leads to the question of speeds? What sort of speeds should be used to apply each product? Knocked it up to top speed - 6 - and was amazed by the power!
  16. if you email a copy to matthew.mcnally@us.lexusownersclub.com, I can look into making these available
  17. I took a look at the product descriptions before posting mate - thanks :) I never got a grey pad and autopia doesn't seem to list em. Do you think they mean the standard pad that comes with the PC? (although I would describe that as white - not grey)
  18. Just ordered the Autopia Porter Cable Polisher. I have a discount code for this - if anyone wants it - send me a PM. Was delivered today - excellent turnaround. Ordered 31/03 - arrived today in the UK. Comes in a nice box :) And its choc-fulla-goodies :D Can I just run through what gets used for what? My weapons of choice are Klasse All In One, Klasse Sealant Glaze and Pinnacle Souveran Wax. I have a very dark blue car, almost black - and just AIO and Souveran put a beautiful deep shine on the car. So - I am quite looking forward to getting a good few layers of Sealant Glaze down, as I was very happy with the effect of SG on my IS. I also want to use Meguiars Scratch X on the paintwork. I have some light swirls and scratches, and I would much rather not! So, I was thinking of using the; - Green Pad to apply the scratch x. - Blue Pad to apply the All In One - buffing bonnet, over the orange pad, to apply the Sealant Glaze. But - then I get stuck What should I use to apply and buff off the Souveran? Apply by hand and use the (washed and clean) buffing bonnet to polish off? Would appreciate any guidance (and critique) you can offer guys :D
  19. I don't know about californian laws - but on the IS's and GS's I have driven with E-Shift, you cannot shift down to 1 manually. This may give the impression that the car pulls away in second gear. However, in auto, an e-shift mode, the car will start in 1st. The manual selection of the gear is the same as on a standard autobox. The gear selected in the highest gear the car will move up to - not the gear it starts in. If you select 3 on your auto gearbox, it doesn;t start it in 3rd does it.
  20. yeah - as SRK says, don't let this spoilt it for you. you dont even know if it was a Lexus employee who did it. how was it delivered? I would imagine it was trailered - so you way well find it was the kid who loads up the trailer. you were right to refuse the car though - I would have done exactly the same thing.
  21. have a read of this post - Toyota Avalon review, it makes comparisons to the Lexus ES / GS / LS range :)
  22. I have Pirelli P Zero Assymetrico on my GS430 at the moment, and I disklike them. They are a hard compund, and are giving me some disconcerting wheelspin at inappropriate times. I am changing them on Tuesday to Goodyear Eagles F1 GS-D3.
  23. you can turn them on manually? so - we know its not a problem with the bulbs?
