  1. Does not apply to RX. I changed my battery, drove to MI from FL. Then the new battery 'died' after two weeks in the cold (unused car - I was back in Miami), and a friend took the old battery to a dealer and bought a new one and installed it (a couple of hours during which the car was 'basttery-less' - and all works fine ==> no security code needed, but you must 'reset' clock, seat, etc.... Worry not. thanks for the responses everyone, i spoke to a service rep at a lexus dealer near me and he told me that the security codes were not on any of their cars after 1998! And if you want to avoid the hassle of resetting radio, roof, seat, etc.., have it changed out at any battery place where they'll put a little 12V on to keep those functions alive during transfer.
  2. A "fat wallet" can prevent any claim from being filed at all. While technically probably still a "reportable" accident, failure to report is in a completely different league than affirmative act of filing a false claim. Especially if dealing with a local agent, may still be able to "dial it back" by dropping the claim for compensation (LEXI earlier said that often advises clients not to file claims).
  3. If they weren't thinking about the money, but wanted to help you, they quietly should have had it fixed without filing a false insurance claim. That's the major ethical and legal problem. Many here have, I'm sure, been in the same situation as a young driver and/or as a parent of one. I would bet that if any ever stepped over any lines, they did it discreetly. In the internet age, what you did here was a very bad idea. You have potentially put your parents in legal jeopardy if they follow through with their claim. Everyone who stumbled upon the thread knows what happened, your attitudes, your affluence, who you are, what you look like, what your car looks like, where you go to school, your license plate, etc.. For their sake, make sure they know everything you have done. You said "I know what they did wasn't totally right, but if i had a child in the same situation, I would have done the same." That bothers many.
  4. Work too hard to have a job? Who paid for all your mods? Was it your time or someone else's? Your website: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3090724
  5. We are horrible? You came here for advice I am an insurance agent I write for many companies. I tried to tell you what you were doing was a bad idea. I don't think you understand that when people like you, and your parents file false claims like this we all end up paying for it. People are always mad at insurance companies but who they should be mad at is people just like you. You know it is not right. You think that it is funny so what type of person are you. Oh I know a nice person.:cries: man grow up. And just to let you know you may think that is no big deal but as I have said I hope you or your mom didn't file a false police report. You do what you want we have tried to help you. Your parents should read this too. His parents definitely should read this, but I doubt it will happen. I also doubt he'll even tell them he's posted any of this stuff here, even though it puts their necks in the wringer, since it might impact his getting his car fixed.
  6. Or if/when they do commit insurance fraud, they don't do it from a sense of entitlement. They display a certain amount of shame and recognition that what they are doing is wrong but proceed anyway after a personal balancing. Not necessarily a justification or rationalization, but at least an ethical deliberation. This guy never even paused. Just like all the the studies/surveys showing that kids today cheat on tests and think it's OK. It's very possible that the parents aren't quite as bad as we've painted them (although with an affirmative lie to an insurance company, it's hard to say that). But without question they've raised a spoiled brat who feels entitled to drive a luxury car, not work, have absolutely no responsibility for his own actions, and is either too clueless or doesn't really care about his family's illegal and unethical actions, as long as it gets his car fixed.
  7. Another site which might interest you: http://www.insurancefraud.com/ Starting to get the point? BTW, do your parents a favor and show them what you have been up to online.
  8. Lots of people "bend" the rules when it comes to insurance and teen drivers because the rates are so high. Even LEXIRX330 initially advised not to report the accident because of the impact on rates (although knew policy probably required it be at least reported--I'm not criticizing LEXI here, just pointing out what everyone often does in these situations). But affirmative actions in furtherance of insurance fraud are not supported. And again, posting all the facts and pictures is about the dumbest thing anyone could do. You might want to read up on insurance fraud, and while you're at it, grow a pair. If you want to really get a good night sleep tonight, don't do a google search on: 2004 rx300 ri accident (hint: guess who's #1)
  9. People like you and your parents are why we all have to pay so much. You think I am rude? That is funny. You have a lot of growing up to do. By the way your rates should be high. Look to what you have told us 3 tickets, 2 at fault accidents. And you are complaining, you shouldn't even be driving. I bet you don't even pay for your car or insurance. And that is why you could care less. One day mommy is not going to be there. And sorry the truth seems rude. If you think that was rude, wait until your insurance company stumbles upon this thread with you blabbing all over the internet, with pictures, about not only your accident but your family's plan to commit insurance fraud. Then you'll discover what rude is all about. Rude awakening. It was dumb to post it originally, and even dumber to keep going after being warned. And to top it off, even after you realized someone here was an insurance professional (possibly affiliated with the same company you're trying to defraud), you STILL kept mouthing off. You shouldn't be operating a motor vehicle, and it may just work out that way.
  10. I won't give an opinion, other than posting this was a very bad idea. I'm sure your insurance company requires you/your parents to report that accident and now that the pics are posted..... If I were an insurance company, I might want to monitor the internet for situations such as this. Failure to do as required could result in insurance cancellation and, in some cases, fraud. And if there's a serious accident down the line with $$$$ involved (such as medical liability), you can be certain that others will investigate/depose everyone, and that your insurance company might try to deny coverage since you/your parents failed to disclose facts material to insurance coverage. Proceeed with caution. This should not be considered legal advice.
  11. Well, if this is the same Triplecore who advocates leaving the car running while filling with gas, just keep that up and you won't have any more stigmas to worry about.
  12. Since not answered yet, I'll jump in with a wild guess, and just a guess--running very rich while still on cold start, and possibly still burning recycled hydros which hadn't before burned when shut down. Now, will someone who actually knows what he's/she's talking about please answer the question.
  13. Checking owners literature today on '05 found letter from Lexus on warranty extension if notice leaking. Disturbing, since brittle plastic usually results in sudden failure, and easy engine damage. 7/90k for '04 through late '05. Didn't mention Canadian but assume received letter because VIN covered. Was it recall for '04 and extended warranty for others?
  14. Unfortunately I disagree with you- it's called "ASIBED". I wish for his sake he was a troll, but after spending my life in automotive work I have seen it all. Every dealer prays for customers like this (though I know he didn't buy it at a dealer). Just not knowledgable about the automotive field. MOST people overpay for a car. If you don't believe it, take a car for a test drive and stop by your local Carmax store and see what they offer you for it (not knowing that you don't own it, you're only taking it for a test drive). On average, probably half what you are contemplating paying for it. Sophistication in auto purchasing is not a strong point for MOST people. What does it mean to "Troll"? Thanks Great irony! Two thumbs up! No really you guys what does it mean? Don't make fun of me mccldwll some people are new to this internet talking thing. :) b1261 = Solar Radiation Sensor Circuit Short To Ground ? ikes. What are driving space shuttles!! lol Since you asked a second time, I'll asume you weren't "trolling". I did think your's was a perfect tongue-in-cheek, explain-by-example "troll." Best to just Google it, but: generally, "trolling" is posting something that could be considered simplistic ("what is trolling"), inflammatory ("Lexus worse than Hyundai"), or overly consuming ("what do these 12 codes mean, and how do I fix each one?")--hijacking the discussion. The intent is to jerk around/waste time of people who sincerely want to help.

  16. " I brought this car to Toyota Dealer, after couple hour check, dealer charged me $558.00 ( just to check, not for any repair at all ) . here are codes came out: C1201 , C1223, C1243, C1336, B1206, B1214, B1215, B1261, B1262, B1271, B1281, U0121, U0123, U0124, U0126, P2118 ." Also, my experience has always been that when you pay to have a bunch of codes pulled up, you're told what each code means (or probably means) and what the estimate is to fix it.

I still don't buy the story. $20K, sight unseen, unchecked by 3rd party inspection service. Had to tow car back from Toyota because broke. Paid $20K cash, because I seriously doubt could get financing on a car sight unseen with salvage title. Tugging on heartstrings. Ask poster for link to online purchase (such as "Items Sold" on ebay). If not a troll, my guess is someone who paid salvage value --insurance co. totalled car so repair estimate exceeded $20K. Yes? Maybe bought for $5K from insurance co. (or maybe partner with insurance adjuster, who "totalled" the car for this purpose). Just doesn't pass the smell test IMHO. As far as Carmax estimate and gullible customers, my guess is that Carmax would get your license info and vehicle ID#, run an immediate carfax-type check, and see you don't own the car. But I agree that if you had title, the offer would be low.
  18. Sorry, but I don't buy it. This really feels like we're being Trolled. No one spends $20K on a salvage car, sight unseen, uninspected. No one.
  19. You're not driving fast enough. At about 95 mph, the aerodynamics improve tremendously. You'll get 28-30. Not.
  20. Your story makes no sense. This is the wrong forum for your issues. Talk to Lexus, then talk to a lawyer.
  21. Again, why not try the visual comparison I suggested above, adding brake fluid to the comparison (though the color doesn't sound right). Visual comparisons can be pretty accurate (swimming pool chemical test strips). Also, you posted "found the Radiator cap rubber Seal was completley distorted and replaced it." That ain't right. There should be clues there about pressure and heat of rad fluid if system not properly pressurized. If rad cap not properly reinstalled months ago,not only would coolant have overheated but trans fluid might have been under greater pressure than coolant, especially if idiot overfilled trans fluid. Also, overheat may not have been too great for the engine or trans. They may suspect that. Don't let those clowns off the hook.
  22. Do a remix. Put an oz. of rad fluid in each of 2 glasses. Add an oz. of your engine oil to one glass and an oz. of trans fluid to another. See what it looks like.
  23. Is it more likely that trans tubing in radiator has ruptured causing the cross contamination (assuming that Lexus is set up the same as most other car rads)? Didn't you find any rad fluid in the trans fluid? 12 oz seems like a lot for one way transfer, especially since coolant under pressure.
  24. Everyone has kicked MB in the pants for several years now. I'm still tempted by the Santa Fe with its engine/drivetrain warranty. I liked the handling (though nothing special) and the transmission was much smoother than the RX. MPG could be better. I haven't seen one yet, but from what I've read the new Genesis should be interesting.
