  1. So all the east coast cars with the Nav/Lev have chrome wheels?!?! I dont buy that. I'll have to see that to believe it.
  2. In theory, although I've never heard of that problem on the GX. As for the fuel mileage, a big V8 heavy truck like the GX470, 15-16mpg is pretty par for the course. Other Lexus V8s (The cars, GS, LS and SC) of course are not only lighter, but far more aerodynamic. You can't really compare the fuel mileage. You can compare it to the LX, which is about the same.
  3. Dont usually see BMWs and Lexus compared when it comes to quality in that order lol, thats a first for me. I feel exactly the other way around, I dont really care if I ever own a BMW. Different folks I suppose. Dont let bad experiences with one model taint you on the whole brand.
  4. Yeah if it doesnt bother you to wash it at home, then no biggie. When I wash at home I just use the attatchments on my home vacuum cleaner. As for the water, I know people who use distilled to wash and to rinse. The good thing about it is distilled water can not spot because there's nothing in it to be left behind when the water dries. I however just dry it well LOL
  5. You should be able to see it if you look down the tube, maybe with a flashlight. I know though, the light and warning chime are REALLY annoying. Why they need a chime I couldnt tell you... My guess is though that the sensor is probably bad. Have you tried adding more fluid to see if it'll go down, even though its not empty?
  6. No LOL. There are people who do that, but I think its a little extreme. What I do however is get one of those great big like 3 gallon things of water (or a 3 or 5 gallon gas can) and fill it with water from home and put it in the trunk if you're going to wash the car at one of those spray bays. For a couple reasons: 1: Its a PITA to fill up the buckets with the pressure wand because they dont actually put out a lot of water. 2: The water from those things is usually hot, and it burns my hands! 3: Its cheaper then wasting quarters to fill the buckets 4: The water in those wands is reclaimed so its not the cleanest. So what I do is use the gas can or water jug to fill the buckets, use the wand to spray down the car, soap up, and spray off. Usually I only have to put quarters in twice, giving me about 8 minutes of spray for $5 (not cheap here) then another $1 for the vacuum, so I'm out for six bucks. They charge $18 here for a super wash through a tunnel, and $25 to hand wash so its a good savings. Plus I wash the car once or twice a week, so my year end savings are great, even better if I wash at home...
  7. No not at all. Just keep away from the air suspension option. If you run a search on here you'll see that a LOT of people have problems with it, and its REAL expensive to replace. The car rides just as good or better without it. There are also some other areas to look for, other members with those LS years (VMF comes to mind) can steer you better. Dealer service is really expensive, but you dont have to service it at the dealer. At a private shop it should cost similarly as your Legend. Enjoy and welcome to the club!
  8. That was the jist of what I was saying, sorry I didnt get my point across. We're all so interested in the differences for 04 that I didnt even really realize that you actually have one. Whoops LOL Congrats on the new ride! I also think you did quite well on the pricing... I'd love to know if the thing has satellite radio, does it? Also have you used the navigation on the previous model, what do you think of the new system?
  9. Just make sure that the water can't dry on the car (rewet all panels often so they remain wet before you dry) and it wont make a difference. And distilled water is only like $1 a gallon ;)
  10. You mean current ballpark lease info? Check out www.leasecompare.com I leased my ES300 through these guys. Great rates, automated lease payment calculator. You can pay the leases off when you want and take full ownership.
  11. Lexus actually do get hard to come by in late August and September. In actuality, sometimes the prices even go up because demand far exceeds supply. I'd buy what they're saying, it can be hard for a dealer to locate the right vehicle around this time. Just a word of advice, make SURE that the dealer is actually paying the last 4 payments on your current lease and not just rolling them into the new deal. Its an old dealer trick "Oh, we'll take car of these payments" then they bury it in the capitalized cost and the customer never knows they made their own lease payments, and the dealer walks off with way more profit because they didnt have to do as deep a discount off MSRP. Get it in writing, bring a calculator.
  12. They SHOULD require proof of address and ownership, this is what they're SUPPOSED to do. Whether they do this or not though is another story entirely. I mean hell, you can order Lexus keys online that come cut, programmed and ready to go. Scary.
  13. Thats a pretty good deal with the car just on dealer lots given a 40k MSRP. Given a $38.7k MSRP I agree could have done better. The MSRP has me confused, corky do you have the actual window sticker for the car? Does it say $40311? Because thats not the MSRP we'd expect as Alan posted above. BY LAW they have to supply you the actual window sticker, its illegal to sell a vehicle without the sticker being included in the transaction. If the sticker says 40.3k, then somewhere there's a different MSRP then we've been getting from Lexus. If the sticker does not say 40.3k, and does indeed say 38.6k or you have no sticker, then the dealer has screwed you over by supplying you with a false MSRP price. This is a felony. Wait a sec, does the car have chrome wheels? Duh, you said it has chrome wheels so nevermind I'll leave the above in just because its good information. The chrome wheels are like a $1700 option and Lexus doesn't deal on them because they're somewhat rare. They'll just take them off your car and put them on another if you can't reach a deal. Thats where the extra price is coming from. You got a good deal then.
  14. On the 03 and 02 there's no keyhole in the trunk at all lol. If the power pop fails you have to reach in throug the pass through and pull a cord.
  15. No thats their stock price per share. Just shows that XM is a more trusted and solidified company. Has a higher stock price. Per month XM is $9.99 but it has some commercials on some channels. Sirrius is like $13 a month but has zero commercials.
  16. A lot of west coast dealer will ship out to the east coast for about $700 too. You also almost always get a better price on the west coast because the dealers have more inventory, its easier access from Japan. $40,344 isn't actually that much cheaper than the 03...
  17. Yes, the new one will be out next month some time.
  18. Its closer to PCs and Macs, XM is the PC, much more widespread and popular, more information and stations. Sirius is the Mac, more user friendly, more expensive, no commercials. I suppose Sirius is actually better but I dont trust their longevity. XM's stock price is like $16, Sirius is like $1.50.
  19. But what is the "better tire", being more expensive isn't neccisarily better.
  20. I actually read my manuals, and I STILL missed stuff LOL.
  21. They can, I've seen some pics of Best Buy installs that are perfect and flawless, custom. Its just a crapshoot as to whether or not my particular best buy or Circuit City are competent.
  22. Naa the clay is easy! The clay will probably remove the water spots. If not they're probably etched into the clearcoat and it'll take an abrasive to remove them.
  23. Not bad. Thats the type of install I'd expect from Best Buy, good but not overly custom. I want a clean custom install like nobody'd ever know it was not there from the factory.
  24. What was the MSRP?
  25. What type of water spots? Did you clay?
