Es300 2003 Sideview Mirror Replacement
SW03ES replied to lindab's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
I'm sure you have to take the door panel off, you might want to pick up a service manual for the car so you'll know how to do that... Welcome to the LOC! -
No problem at all, like silver noticed I enjoy giving my opinion ;) Yeah you'll want to use the PC. You should pick up some new pads for it like these: http://www.properautocare.com/hi612infopaa.html You'll want two cutting pads and a polishing pad. You can do the final waxing by hand or with your little buffer. You'll also want to look at Poorboys line of SSR polishes, you'll need SSR2.5 and maybe SSR3 depending on how bad your swirls are in reality. Your NXT applied at high speed with the PC and a polishing pad will work as a high grade polish to remove any marring. Work the 2.5 in according to the instructions posted here at the site. www.poorboysworld.com You know what, I'll send you a little of my SSR polish if you want. I can send you enough to do your whole car probably and it would save you having to buy some. Shoot me a PM with your address if you want some ;)

You can't go wrong with the LTX M/S with those criteria.
-
You bought a porter cable? Cool! What kinda pads did you get with it? Also what kind of polish do you have to use with it? I just bought a set pf polishes from Poorboys that did a great job with the PC on my car when I did it a couple weeks ago.
-
Cool...I might just give it a try then. Their prices are great.
-
Yeah I don't see why that would be a problem.

You also might want to try buying some little rubber bumpers from Home Depot the ones used on cabinet doors and such and see if you can create a better seal for the door.

Need Help! I Have Something On My Wheels!
SW03ES replied to kino1161's topic in Lexus Detailing and Car Care Forum
You should also try a mag and chrome wheel polish. I'm gonna move this to the detailing forum. -
The DVD nav has a much larger screen and an entirely new menu system, it also has a lot more POIs than the old hard drive system and processes faster. As for figuring out if you can do it yourself I would call Sewell Lexus (thats lexus-parts.com) and ask them if they can send some instructions with the part. If you can't install it you can always take the part to your Lexus dealer and pay them to do it, you've still saved money on the part by ordering it online.

Another thing I JUST realized. If you're going to keep the car 7 years don't lease it! Leasing can be great, I lease but only if you turn the car in after the lease is up and get another one. If you set out knowing that you're going to be keeping the car 7 years and you lease then buy it out you wind up spending as if the car loan had like a 20% interest rate. You can get a finance payment down pretty close to a lease payment nowadays by financing for 72 months, thats the smartest thing to di if you're going to keep it.

Can't get the AVS in SC. The car is a "little" sportier now with the 17 inch wheels...

My 2006 Gx470 Total Redesign Out In April 2005
SW03ES replied to nyc11370's topic in 03 - 09 Lexus GX470
The salesmen may have just been confused. That happens to car salesmen...a lot. -
Here's a little tip about leasing, don't tell them you're leasing until after you've negotiated the price. Whenever they quote you a lease price they're charging you full MSRP, which on the ES is crazy. Negotiate a fair price then get some lease payments. Shop some outside lessors like credit unions etc. Don't haggle based on lease payments, thats an old car salesman profit hiding trick. I leased my ES for just over $500, 39 months with $0 down, $500 over invoice. Thats US dollars keep in mind.

I worked in the Lithographic printing business almost my whole life, so I'm interested in finding out what kind of paper(manufacturer), that was used for this publication. My company did the finest printing for the top advertising agencies around the USA, Europe, and Asia. :) ← Really? You might know him then I'll send you a PM.

They're still all mostly similar to what I have now, I want something with a little more to them. Lemme look around on that site and post some ideas...

Ah I gotcha, I thought the coats of NXT were fresh. Thats exactly what happens when swirls are filled, get a good week of rain and the filler washes right out. Thats actually good news though, if the NXT hid them then they weren't that deep and should be easily fixed.

I seriously doubt that. -
I like em both (but not the Frankenstein shoe, sorry Bart ;) )! I saw that Zappos store. How does one buy shoes without trying them on though...

Woah woah woah... whats with the being insulted? Nothing wrong with adding in your input but I have every right to bounce mine off of whatever you post thats how this forum thing works. I've been doing this a long time and have a lot of experience with the usage and relative benefits of a lot of products. Why shouldn't I voice my opinion on something I think is incorrect? The fact of the matter is that synthetics *by and large* are much more durable than carnuaba. Its sort of like the dino oil vs synthetic oil debate. *by and large* carnuaba has a better look but the tradeoff is durability. NXT as synthetics go is pretty poor, its all biased towards look and there's no durbaility behind it which can be somewhat typical for a Meguiars product. They've had several products in their line over the years that have been this way (Gold Class comes to mind). Other sealants like Zaino, Poorboys EX-P, Blackfire to a lesser extent, Klasse for sure have ironclad durability when they're applied properly. In fact, they can be difficult to get off. One main reason for this is that they aren't susceptible to heat like carbuaba is. I'd bet you money after a long day of sitting out in the sun the #26 has burned off the horizontal surfaces of your car because its so dark. There may be residual oils behind that bead, and in fact since your car is well polished and the paint is smooth it will probably bead with no wax at all, but #26 isn't lasting 4 months, at least not with any meaningful durability left. Especially the liquid. Theres another difference in carnuaba *by and large* and thats paste vs liquid. Pastes are ALMOST always more durable than liquids and they're also easier on any glaze or previous wax coating you may have on the car before waxing. Liquids contain additives to keep the liquid...well a liquid that detract from the durability and can act like cleaning agents. #26 paste for instance is more durable than #26 liquid. Odds are the #26 liquid is removing the NXT you have on the car as you apply it. Paste waxes have far fewer liquifaction agents and therefore are more applicable to topping sealants for instance. Not all pastes are hard to use, #26 paste is pretty easy to use. P21S and Souveran are easier than liquid. Some are more difficult like Collinite 476 or Meguiars #16. Unfortunately as far as waxes go usually the longer they last the more difficult they are to work with. No need to take anything personally, gotta be open to new ideas. In the end its the quality of your work that turns out a good finished product more than the products you choose. You obviously have the work down because your car looks great, but the statement "synthetics are less durable than carnuaba" could not be further from the truth.

Then its the old nav and the update is out now.

New Tsb For Owners Suffering From Sulfer Smell!
SW03ES replied to SW03ES's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Yep, they don't. They don't suffer from the tranny hesitation either. -
There's nothing sporty about the ES. Thats part of what makes it so different from the other cars in its class. Since Lexus has the IS they decided to make the ES a "baby LS" and make it fully a luxury car with the best ride and most noise insulation possible for its price point. Now, *I* like that. I love sporty cars, but I like to drive sporty cars when I'm out to have fun. When I'm driving around every day, working and on trips and such I want the smoothest ride I can get. One of these days I plan on buying something, maybe a Corvette to keep forever as a third weekend fun car but thats a few years down the road. If *you* like a sporty ride then the ES isn't your car. I also probably wouldn't reccomend the IS simply because its all sport and no luxury which I don't think you'll want either. You might want to add into your list the Acura TL and the Infiniti G35. Both are great cars and will last you as long as the Lexus will. Resale may not be as good, but if you're looking for 7-10 years that doesn't matter as much. Both are also much sportier than the ES for a similar price. Now Mercedes and BMWs WILL last forever, you've just got to keep up on them. They're not going to be as much "drive it and forget it" as a Japanese car. BMWs and Benzes get very costly to maintain as they age. Lexuses, Infinitis, Acuras will last forever too but they're a little gentler in their old age.

It uses the best rates at the moment. Don't forget to figure in the discount off MSRP, you should be able to get at least $3500 off of an ES330.

Alan- Naa thats a little too casual for me. I prefer lace up shoes with suits and I like something that shines up.
