  1. Thanks for the replies everyone. The PIAA seem a little pricy & more than I wanted to spend to be honest. Steviej, from what I can tell by searching, I need a 9003 &/or H4 models which I can get for around $30 - $40 range for the pair. I have my eye on these which are suppose to last longer than OE bulbs with much better brightness & overall performance... http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/A...nce/Xtravision/ http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/A...LRG-Results.htm any thoughts?
  2. My wife's car (2003 Subaru Forester XS) blew a headlight bulb this evening on our way out to dinner. I have a couple of questions...I will be replacing both headlight bulbs at the same time & keep the old one that is working as a spare... - Should I just replace them with the OE bulbs or get something aftermarket? (looking for something of quality, that's long lasting & provides as good if not better brightness overall at a reasonable cost). If the ladder, what do you specifically suggest? I've heard of Sylvania, GE Nighthawk & Philips (Hi-Visibility or Vision Plus) mentioned before......any thoughts? Partsource (Canadian version of Autozone, Pep Boy's) has the GE Nighthawks on sale until the end of the month. - How much should I expect to pay? (ballpark) Any help & opinions are greatly appreciated. B)
  3. I'm the same way as well. B)
  4. I honestly don't think you can please these guys..... http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/?p=2463
  5. I had a set of Toyo Proxes FZ-4 (235/40-18) and if you Toyo tire is anything similar, then stay away. It will sound like and 18 wheeler by 15,000 miles. Can't speak to the Faulkens. Have you looked at the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3? steviej I would also suggest the Goodyears ^ but they are a summer tire only.......The Toyo Proxes 4's are a very good choice for an UHPAS tire though. ;)
  6. Agreed nc.....Subaru has made vast strides in the last several years on their build quality (which wasen't really embarrassing at all to begin with to be honest but did trail the likes of Honda & Toyota), granted it's not a Lexus....that I know, but they are rock solid & high quality materials used especially the interior bits. ;) I wonder if Toyota will use Subaru's AWD technology in their future products & perhaps Subaru will use Toyota's Hybrid technology as an example? I'm sure both companies can benefit from each other.
  7. Lol, perhaps BUT it was a demo to compare & see how various AWD systems from different automakers & see how they stack up against Subaru......hate to say it, but the Toyota Highlander got owned lol.
  8. Found this excellent video comparo of different automakers AWD systems......Subaru vs. Toyota (no Lexus unfortunately), VW, Honda, Nissan & Volvo. Video is 10 min in length so 56k please beware. Have a look to see how some popular models stack up. Enjoy B)
  9. Amsoil oil & filters is all I use. B)
  10. Exactly what I ment den.....an excellent example. ;)
  11. Gauge interest to see if it's do-able......if there is enough interest, the cost should be reasonable. Just an idea is all. ;) A good pic for one of the winter months steviej would be one of those pics you submitted during that nasty New England winter you had a while back for instance.
  12. Purly for fun is why were doing it on the Forester forums. B) It's turned into quite a competition too.
  13. Good stuff Steviej! Sounds like you have an awesome dealer there. B)
  14. Just an idea here Ladies & Gent's... On our Subi Forester site, each year we submit our best pics of our rides for consideration (stock, modded makes no diff) & the best choices are put together to produce an annual calendar from LOC members. Thought it might be a good idea if LOC considered something like that........cost should be in the area of under $20. I wonder if anyone has considered something like that or what kind of interest would be here? Just a thought. B) Here is a link to an example of what I mean.... http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/fo...read.php?t=8027
  15. I was at Autozone today and just for chits and giggles, I looked at the ICONs. They were ~$25 each. The Valeos are the same price on tirerack.com. I'm sticking with Lexus OEM. Hey, Bren, here is a long shot. What kind of mount are on the Subi's. If it is the J hook type, you could get the arm and insert from Lexus and try them. Measure the blades, what size. The pre-02 ES used 22" and 18" blades and the 02+ ES uses 24 and 20 inch blades. I am sure the Subi fits in there somewhere. But, good luck with the RainX. Let us know how they are. steviej I know.....the prices are nut's. 21" & 19" respectively (15" for rear wiper) & yup they are 'J' hook type. I'll try the RainX this time around I think & report back......they look better than the Bosch Micro Edge Excel's & less expensive to boot. B)
  16. You make excellent points Stevej. What I think I'll end up doing is giving the RainX 'Weather beater' blades (conventional) a try.....They look decent & are a reasonable price (I priced the Bosch ICON's & for 2 sets, I'm over $80! ).
  17. Bren, you are in snow and cold country. The ICON and Innovisions are basically the same as the Valeo blade. Read what I posted on CL about the Valeos. If your OCD is like mine and we both know that to be true, you will hate them in the snow and freezing weather. CL Valeo post but that was just my experience, by all means do some searches. However, I think Audi and VW come standard with that style now. steviej Thanks for the link Steve (lol SW.....no Lexus anymore). The Foresters are equipped with a 'wiper de-icer' feature where by the blades actually sit on these heating elements. That's disappointing about the Valeos winter performance considering the price! I know the Bosch ICON are astronomical in price too. :( The OE Subi blades are really not great (average at best). My third choice would be the RainX blades which I have heard decent things about them.......anybody have comments on these? Can't find many folks that have used them.
  18. Looking to get some new wiper blades in the near future & am considering 2......the Bosch ICON & the Trico Innovision blade. Anyone have experience with either or both I would be interested in your comments. B) Thanks!
  19. I'm using these Amsoil oil filters.... http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eao.aspx
  20. Beautiful car Doug! Enjoy. B) :D
  21. Soooo, how's the new car Doug? :) Pic's please. ;)
  22. Sharp car! :) Congrats & welcome.
  23. At least the door didn't fall off lol. ;)
  24. Do you mean these? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...P6+Four+Seasons If so there much better choices out there.......they are average at best.
  25. Your post might be better served in the LX forum. B) Welcome to the club btw.
