Oil Filter & Oil Recommendation?
exdotcomer replied to rmalghan's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Be prepared for 50 conflicting recommendations. Everyone agrees that you want to use a good filter and good oil. Unfortunately, no one will agree on what constitutes 'good'. My own 2 cents is that if you stick with a name brand oil and filter and stay away from the cheapest product in their line, maintain the engine regularly, and do not abuse it by racing, etc, you shouldn't have any problems. Any good oil and filter should let your engine last a long, long time. Others will, of course, disagree with me and will have their own personal favorites. Their opinion is worth just as much as mine is - $0.02.. ← he's right. Rule of thumb for me-> it doesn't need to be the best stuff, but it shouldn't be crap either. I use a $4 fram filter and mobil oil. I change it (or try to) about every 3,000 miles. I don't beat on the car and i don't use it to tow stuff. THere are no mountains here, so I 'm ok there to. Not alot of stop and go traffic either. stealership=sold soul to the devil -
My passenger side window will not go up or down now. I have to use the master switch on the drivers side.

'01 Es Traction Control Light Is On
exdotcomer replied to exdotcomer's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
I would bet on it. Instruct him to bring it back immediately to that shop so he can document that the shop was notified. They should at least check out the sensor. They may have cracked the sensor ring. Putting on a properly sized larger wheel should not throw off the sensor if it is working. It didn't on my car either. steviej ← thx! -
nice- but you can spend that amount alone getting them fixed.

would 215/50-17 tires on 05' solara rims be an issue on a '98 es300? is 50 a bigger profile? that's the size tire rack.com suggested. the rims are 17X7, 5 LUG,4 1/2" BOLT PATTERN,50MM OFFSET. they won't rub will they?
-
tires are 215 45 17. It's actually my neighbors car. he asked "could rim and tire replacement cause the traction control light to stay on all the time?" I never heard of that issue before. he said it happened right after he upgraded the rims. someone mentioned that he should have put 215 35 17's on. does that make sense? there was some guy on this forum who put 19's and he never mentioned an issue with the idiot lights. could the guys that installed the set of rims, somehow manage to damage a sensor by accident?

NeiLtYmE- maybe it's his family's cars too. by the way...you condition leather , not moisturize ;) you need to treat the leather as if it were your leather jacket. clean it and condition it so it will last. i use lexol products.

Who Has The Highest Mileage On Their Es 300
exdotcomer replied to Tousij2's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
lexusk8- do you perform the work on your own car or do you take it to a shop. You don;t take it to the stealer ship do you? (lexus of westport) they drive your car down the block in fairfield to some other shop to change the oil. -
Plastic Piece Between The Front And Rear Window
exdotcomer replied to mburnickas's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330

yeah- probably double faced tape -
c'mon, we're trying to help out. I'm actually having the same issue. I would not reset as that "ignores" the possibility of a real problem. the idiot lights don't go on without reason. I'm convinced my issue is probably a loose bulb somewhere. I'll try and check all the bulbs by hand as soon as I have time. I would revisit this site as it is the most helpful place on the net in my opinion. some people who post will have their bad days, just don't take it personal. that's the issue with email and postings, you can't tell the other person's true thought, view, or attitude. no biggie. there is no other forum specific to our cars that have as much info and that includes the passionate fans! (ok, don't visit the corvette forums)

30 or so years ago, I was driving across country with some friends and we got a flat tire. The lug nuts were, of course, rusted and we couldn't get them off. All the guys were showing off their muscles and trying to get the nuts free. Then, one young lady (a chemical engineer) pushed us all aside and poured a coke on the lug nuts. She told us to wait a couple of minutes - and then it came right off. To her credit, she didn't gloat much. Now, it couild be that we loosened things up and it would have come off anyway, but Coke does have phoshporic acid which is used as a rust remover (obviously very different concentrations), so it's worth a shot. ← if that fails, you can just mix it with rum and drink it while you ponder your next move!

very sweet looking ride. can the :First Problem: When the car is running, when I stop at a stoplight ect, and am at idle, or without my foot on the gas, there is a very annoying vibration that I can feel in the steering wheel and in the pedals. (I took it to my mechanic and he said it was def. coming from the engine and that I should put a fuel additive into the tank,b/c their might be water in the light, oxidation ect..) " be related to motor mounts? when was the car last tuned up?

post pics once they;re on the car!

do you think I'll need spacers in the rear?
-
I thought you shouldn't change to synthetic oil on a car past 40 k miles? something about the the oil being so thin - it would wreck havec on the seals.

Anyone have these on their lexus? 17X7, 5 LUG,4 1/2" BOLT PATTERN,50MM OFFSET. what do you guys think? They should fit ok, no?
-
wow- great job- looks sweet. details...where did you get the parts , how long did it take to finish?

[ Lexusfreak- thanks.no they don't get the praise because they don't cost 200 bucks each., but they have a higher rain and snow rating then 3/4 of tires mentioned here- which was a main concern for me. they work as advertised.
