okay guys, I am going to give you a very constructive advice on how to fix this problem.

    1. First remove the cluster and if you do not know how go to lexls.com and follow the instructions.
    2. then remove the face cover .first grap the tach needle gently and pull untill you hear a pop, again be gentle and do not ge scared.
    3. once you hear the pop move the needle clockwise untill it pops again then gently release it.
    4. now move the needle slowly counterclock till you sit it over the zero an on the dot and make sure that it sits right on the zero.
    5. to check your work move it gently say to the mark 3 then let go it should snap right back to zero, once you have accomplished this ,you are rock & roll baby. the same thing goes for speedometer.

... this job should take about an hour if you how to handle things. Good luck and let me know.
please make a donation to lexls.com, this guy is great.may god bless his soul.

This is very good information PD, put it in a stickey for everyone...

Yes very nice Billy. Now, if you could only get another 200k out of your own body! haha.

The leather on my LS was also in great shape. The only thing I noticed was cracking of the finish on the wooden part of the steering wheel. Does yours have that too?

My body will not last that long, and I don't want it too either.... and yes the steering wheel has visuals of cracking, but the finish is still smooth to the touch.

also I just ordered this: LEXUS OEM FACTORY FLOOR MAT SET 1997-2000 LS400 IVORY PT208-50980-08  all 4 mats NEW from Bell Lexus in Arizona with 1 year warranty.

  3. I have just got my parts to renew my 202,000 mile LS
new: waterpump, timing belt, seals & bearings, front fan bracket bearing combo.
Engine mounts, and tranny mount, spark plugs, VC gaskets, tube seals and necessary items.
my pride and joy will serve me well. Inside and out, still first class...
I ride down the streets and see all the newer cars and just think "If you only knew"
and ounce of care for a pound of love.....

  4. no, I have had 5 of these (99's) over the last 6 years... I usually buy them 2 at a time for me & my wife, I have had 12 LS's all together (see "cars I have owned") I believe the 99's are the best (it took several to get the best I could find).. worked on cars all my life (82 now) had 5 gas stations and a repair shop (nearly 30 years) and I just love cars.. some I restored, and some bought... but now down to one.... good luck on yours .... old people can rattle all day..
