Full Throttle = White Smoke
A_GS300 replied to jarvis's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
The weight/grade of engine oil could be too thin and sipping through your rings? What weight/grade engine oil are u using for ur car? Is your coolant mixed with oil (usually turns into a milky/brownish kind of colour) or any water condensation on your oil cap? -
Radio/climate Backlight
A_GS300 replied to Brian Ross's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Check your fuses in the kick panel on the driver's side. There is backlight in your climate and radio display therefore you're not going insane... Good luck... -
Sounds like ur brakes dude. Could be your pad fittings coming loose, do a search on the forum for "brake noises" or "brake fitting kit". Hope this helps.

Is the car idling alright? Any mosture in your engine oil compartment? And doing a search on the forum is a good idea...

Coilovers And Break Kits........
A_GS300 replied to sakataj's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
I had the same dilima as you when it came to suspension upgrades but I ended up with the Tein CS (comfort sport) and it's a comfortable ride. Ride's slightly firmer than standard with the right settings but handles heaps better. It also depends on what u r setting your car up for i guess (race/hardcore or luxury). I wanted the big brakes upgrade kit but imo a simple stage 1 as SKperformance mentioned is enough unless u r looking at big power from engine mods/upgrades! My 2 cents worth... -
Mine's a 1999 GS300 and did mine at 100k.

Got your wheels balanced? I rotate & balance mine every 30000-40000km to get a more even wear. Depends on the road conditions as well.

Installing Back Up Sensors!
A_GS300 replied to Gs300Luver's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
I've just purchased mine a couple of days ago. It's the invisible ones that has got the sensor hidden behind the bumper. Works like any normal reverse sensor but without the hassle of drilling holes. :) -
"Mosh" is right. You should stick to manufacturers with good reputation and designed for that car. Running straight pipes and unknown mufflers could lead to loud dronning within the cabin let alone on the outside. As to performance wise, unless you or your exhaust shop know exactly what to do and/or willing to trial an error, stick to those that are known on the market for that car.

Have you checked your tranny oil level and or had it replaced yet? Also check this, http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=42541 or do a search on the forum if it helps.

Tire And/or Brake Noise?
A_GS300 replied to gabriel430's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
The descriptions are/could be symptoms of the rotors. Get it checked out to see if the rotors have warped. Another thing to check for on the discs are to see if they have been grooved bad(can usually tell by looking at the disc). If they are, either get some new rotors or machine them if possible. Hope this helps. :) -
Do a search on the forum dude. This problem has been mentioned before. From memory, it has got to do with your brake fitting kits and/or shim kits that goes with the pads into your caliper. Did you change your fitting kits and/or shims when you got your brakes done? I would advise you to do your fitting/shim kits first if not already done so and see how it goes. Hope this helps.

2002 Gs300 Brakes And Rotors Replacement Cost ?
A_GS300 replied to peeam's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Just my 2 cents worth. I too have the brembo but in slotted with TRD pads. IMO, I would not say it's a huge improvement but it does perform better over stockies. They do brake harder with less effort over stock. For the price I paid comparing to everything else in Australia, it definately's worth every cent. The downside of this combo is that i now have a load of brake dust and it does squeal a little (if you have your windows down u'll hear it for afew seconds at a certain speed). But with windows shut and in the car, you'll not hear nor see of this downside.:chairshot: -
My Ride Is Very Rough........help
A_GS300 replied to dssnosher's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
I get the squeeks as well on my sunroof!! The rough ride sounds like it may be the struts. Had a mate with similar problems and turns out the struts were the cause. 140,000kms of driving through bad pod-holes everyday were mostly the cause. :cries: -
My New Gs 300 ...(pics)
A_GS300 replied to GooseSedan's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Congrats dude. Any plans for big modds soon? :D -
I have the same problem with a 98 GS 300. It must be the AC as there is no water dripping out under car when using the AC. Please help if you can. thank you Probably a choke in the a/c lines somewhere, or it could be part of a hose in the a/c system that came loose? I had this problem once on my Audi after getting my a/c unit repaired from the DEALER here in Australia!!!! :chairshot: But not sure if its a common problem on a GS300. Anybody care to help?

Dont know would this help, but have you tried resetting the ecu (disconnecting negative terminal) ? yes i disconnected the negative battery terminal for a few minutes but nothing changed Well, if you have done that, and have left the negative off for 10 mins or so, I guess it should be the idling set for 1500 <_< , so maybe listen to the pros and ask your dealer to adjust it for you. 1500 does sound abit on the high side.

Ditto!! Have had bad experiences with cheap parts years ago with my previous cars... (teenager and dead broke during uni days so cheap cheap was the way to go I though) :cries: But really BAD consequences!!! :chairshot:

I have a 2001 GS300 and it didn't bleed in the conventional way. I would assume the 2002 would be the same way. I have a pressure bleeder that I bleed my other cars but I couldn't use on the GS because there was too much crap around the master cylinder. But when I tried to do it the conventional way, I couldn't get any pressure to build by pumping the brakes. I had to turn the ignition on and there is an electric pump that pumped brake fluid through. I wasn't planning on bleeding the entire system (I had just changed the pads) but I think it easily could have done what my pressure bleeder does. Just keep the reservoir topped up. I don't know if this would be considered the right way to bleed these but I was surprised (good way) by my experience. I thought what an easy way to bleed the system (whenever I get to that). This is exactly what I did to my 99 GS300 when I replaced my fluid last week.
