  1. (This is probably the wrong place to post this) sorry. I hear lots of opinions on car washes... so I'm looking for yours. Which is recommended to keep the paint looking perfect especially SGM. Touchless car washes are supposed to be better than the old cloth ones, but I have major swirl marks on my old car and I only used touchless. OR washing by hand with a certain cloth? Also people say not to wax a new car? What's the real deal?
  2. usually you can reset the fob by holding the unlock and lock keys in for a period of time.. ie. 2 mins. This was the case on a few of my north american cars's key fobs that would stop locking and unlocking all together. You could also try changing the battery perhaps. Can you not lock the driver's door while open before you close the door?
  3. This happened to a friend of mine! She was driving her Catillac CTS-V on the highway going approx. 70 Mph and suddenly the car lost its power with the dash flashing. Cadillac said it was a fault in the computer and the computer was replaced under warranty. She was lucky and narrowly avoided an accident being trapped in the fast lane at the time. Let us know if Lexus gives you an answer I know I'm curious!
  4. Here is a pic of both GFM and SP I found at Club Lexus, member Xtraboost. I think both colors are nice, and sometimes I think GFM has a neat faded look to it, it always seems more dull in the sun.
  5. Thanks GordonW I really appreciate the info!
  6. Dealer told me this week that my Palm Treo 700 WX phone will not work with the IS 250 Bluetooth!!! First I'm curious as to WHY? Design problem? Business Deal? The salesperson told me to buy a new phone, but the treo is the only phone that operates the new Iboxes for Realtors so I would like to keep it. Has anyone used a Treo with their bluetooth. Should I buy a new phone that is compatible to forward my calls to the car??? Thanks, Ella
  7. strange, I had the luxury package on there, but it was missing in the summary. I guess its a computer thing
  8. Ohio to Georgia... dealers won't like that. Or else they will make you pay for the transfer. Are you sure there isn't one in Florida? FL does a lot of volume you would think they would have your combo
  9. yep you do pay tax and duty. Its worth it for a quality Japanese car. MSRP Ottawa $54,950 MSRP USA 40,555 2 grand and some change for duty is fine by me I will have the 14 grand on sticker! so GST and duty at the border and then PST when you put plates on it. What border crossing are you thinking of going through? Some crossings only have 1 agent who can process or none at all so it can be a long wait.
  10. Funny whenever you see some internet post on which to choose Lexus or BMW Lexus gets slammed. -Seems like a lot of people that don't drive Bimmers back them up because somewhere someone told them they were the ultimate driving machine and they believe it! I was ready to sign on the dotted line for a 328xi until I test drove the IS line for fun. WOW it worked for me. The interior sold me, plush, quiet, smooth ride, nice dash, luxury features galore! I just felt the 328 had a dash you would see in a 1991 Honda, cheap obsolete, bare. BUT I still turn my head when a 328 coupe goes by... perfection! Oh and I also saw a new 335 get dusted by a Acura TL in a street race, which didn't inspire confidence in their "sports sedan"
  11. Actually I think the 1958-1960 Ford Edsel is the ugliest car of all time! Look at that thing! Horrid
  12. EWWWW Santa FE!!! Ever drive behind one and think the back hatch handle looks like a man's ?? Maybe its a girl thing
  13. so if they are building a combo like that you cant order one???? I'm confused. They can always do a dealer locate, and have the car delivered.
  14. Is the ventilated front seating system gone??? In the summary when you build a car on the web it only says heated front seats now.?!
  15. wowsers I love that car straight out of the factory, but I can appreciate your taste! What a lucky girl!!! Have fun with it.
  16. same boat ... live in Ottawa buying in USA to save $$$$. I mentioned in a different post that I am looking into changing my instrument cluster for resale purposes- ie. it might be a smoother sale when I sell if the cluster is a canadian Kms. Otherwise I don't think its a real problem for me. A car salesman who is a friend told me to call one of his auction contacts about changing them. They must only be done by certain people (i was told) because of warranty etc. Local lexus dealer told me not to switch it! So you can read the inner numbers and convert you miles to kms for servicing, and they don't have the feature of pushing a button to convert.. to bad!
  17. I'm also planning on importing a US Lexus to Canada. I talked to the local lexus dealership that will be providing the warranty servicing and they told me not to change the instrument cluster (speedo) because I don't have to. I do know that the majority of used cars on our lots are american and that all of their clusters are changed at auction... therefore the public usually has no idea it was ever an american car. Schitzo can you let me know if the RIV inspection wants your cluster to be changed? btw what colour did you go with?
  18. 2003 Pontiac Grand AM.... the wheel bearing blew while driving down they highway (big smoky explosion- of sorts) and because of this I had no brakes, car was about 2 years old. Then while in a Coffee shop drive thru one saturday morning the fuel pump quit. People were honking and yelling at me, until they realized I was stuck with a **BEEP** car, so they helped me push it out foregoing any coffee! car 3 years old The security feature would enable randomly all the time, which cuts off the fuel supply making you wait with the key on for 10 minutes before restarting. This went from happing every time you were in a hurry to every time you tried to start the car period! Fixing it was $$$$$$$$$ - car 3 years old The car also has a recall for the gas pedal sticking to the floor! When I drive the car in the rain or snow it makes a loud muffler noise! When the A/C is on I cannot accelerate enough to merge on to the highway. The A/C also makes my steering wheel shake violently at traffic lights. The radio screen lights are burnt out and the cd player doesn't like playing cds, and quite often adds a strange scramble sound or fuzzy noise to the song. I have been fighting rust on it since day 1 For a while the signal light would tick constantly even when your signal wasn't on. But really fast and in different patterns, like a message from outer space! Only remedy was a loud radio to block out some of the sound, too bad the cds didn't work! Brake jobs out the ying yang, and lots of tires!!! its a real lemon... would anyone like to buy it??
