  1. That big molded undercarriage piece (apprx. 3 ft X 2ft) that fits under the front of the car came loose while scooting down the freeway then slowly started becoming more undone until it came off altogether (I'm sure the car in back of me wasn't amused). :o

Can my SC survive OK without it?

yeah, mine scraped off the freeway and only running like half of it being held on with zip ties. my engine is actually very clean for a 93 and my opinion on this piece of plastic is to hell with it. like the last two posts... it's just to keep dirt, mud, and other junk like that from kicking up and for air control... i'm just going to take off the rest of mine. so it's your choice if you want to replace it or not.

  2. Can I ask you guys how you are getting these great looking photos in the posts? I cannot seem to get it to happen on my end and only the small grainy looking ones seem to go as attachments. Thanks in advance...

hey leo what's up... i just went to the gallery, clicked on my pics, right clicked and went into the properties, highlighted and copied the source, went back to the posts, click the img button and pasted the source in it. then post your reply... i'll email you pics of my car and my damn scuff mark because of the wall i backed up into. laters

What do you think? gettin my license in 3 days...

welcome to the club. I'm also an owner of the 93 GS. Let me tell you, personally, I think this model is better looking than the new ones because it has no edges... nothing but smooth curves. Any future mods to the car? So far, on my GS, I have put the following mods:

    1. Full admiration kit (JDM)

    2. JDM spoiler that you can't find in the states...

    3. 19X9 ADR rims, almost like Mr. Sypher's rims except his are deep dish and chrome i think

    4. lowered on intrax springs

    5. Toyota Aristo Conversion

    A. Airbag

    B. Cruise control lever (Jap. Character instead of english words)

    C. JDM Foglights

    D. JDM Tail lights

    E. JDM Emblems and grill

    F. My key has toyota Emblem

    G. Aristo Strut Bar

    H. Aristo Cam Cover

i think that's all i have for the aristo conversion. I'm just missing the jdm headlights and obviously the 2JZ-GTE engine.

in my interior, I left it stock except for the DVD head unit and Sony amp.

here's a pics of my engine

I'll post pictures of my car soon. Enjoy your car and take very good care of it.

  4. I'm not a car-techy person, but if you know what I'm am talking about please help. My factory amp is going out and I want to get a new radio. However, no one has the installation kit for it. They keep telling me that they would have to fabricate it to make everything fit.

Can someone please help me on finding a new radio or the spec's or what do I need to do to replace and get a new radio (possibly one that plays MP3s!!)

    B)

    I'm not sure what pieces I need. I have a 1995 GS300.

    Thanks

    Cris

hey cris what's up. i have a fabricated face plate on my car with a dvd head unit. did you originally want to change out the radio for a new one or because the factory amp is wiggin out? you can keep your factory stereo and change out your amp for a better one. but if you're going to change out your head unit, might as well change out the amp as well because when they connect everything to the new head unit, your rear sub is either 1) not work or 2) have a distorted feedback. i changed out my stereo and amp and let me tell you, that nakamichi sub has way more kick than you think. i have my amp turned down low but the sub still kicks. nakamichi is a great system. Oh yeah hey Leo, I got my car back, but I backed up into a wall. I'm taking it back to the shop to have it fixed again. Oh yeah, I'm thinking about purchasing another car... what do you think?

    toyota_aristo_interior.sized.jpg

you can't see the face plate in this pics because my screen is up. i'll post another one tomorrow or something.

  5. My car will slow down alittle sometimes and the BRAKE light (only on when Emergency Brake is on) comes on and off even if the e-brake is not on.

    What's going on here?

How do I fix this crap?

    Thanks in Advance

hey what's going on... i have the exact same problem with my car. 93 GS3. i think it's the release sensor that is sticking. i haven't had time to take apart the e-brake release, but i'm sure that's what it is.

  6. I was told by two separate car shops that the labor cost of replacing my timing belt was $550. Does that seem a little excessive to pay for the labor? The belt only cost me 50 dollars, but I am expected to pay 550 for labor.

Does anyone know of an instructional manual that I can use myself?

that sounds about right. i paid that much and got my water pump replaced as well.

  7. Hey i was thinking of buying an in dash LCD deck and was wondering if i needed to buy any additional parts or if my amps could handle it. If anyone who has done this before could tell their setup i would be very thankful. Pictures are always nice! :D

    Thanks

    Mr.O

hey what's going on, i have a toyota aristo and i installed a 7.5 in indash dvd player. i had to make a back plate to fit around the open space of the original radio, place the brain in the trunk of the car (could not place brain under passenger seat because of power rails), and had to extend the wiring harness by sodering another foot of wiring or so. a lot of work but it's well worth it.

  8. I have traction control, so are you saying that if I have the traction control I have the touring package.

to my knowledge and what i have read says that you have the touring package if you have traction control. i'll read up on my aristo broushure and get back to you on it with a definate answer. but yeah, that's what i say... you have the true touring package when you have traction control.

  9. Hello everyone. I'm a new guy here and I need some help if anyone can spare the time.

I've got a '93 GS300 and a JZS147 Aristo front clip with a 2JZGTE (3.0L twin turbo). Is there anyone here that has done the swap? If so, how successful were you? Do you have any pointers for me before I start the work? What, if any, modifications have to be done to get this thing to work/fit properly?

Thank you very much for your time and help!

    Masaki

hey what's up... well if you notice, the engine bay of the aristo in smaller than the gs300 engine bay. approx 1in. the problem with this is that when you drop the aristo engine, the secondary turbine outlet pipe will pinch your heater core which is going to be a big problem. to fix this problem, you're going to have to modify the outlet piping for the secondary turbo to fit. another thing you should want is the actual aristo cpu and harness. only drawback to the harness is that when everthing is all connected, your gauge cluster might read differently because the temp and gas gauges are swapped in the aristo. just thought you might want to know. either than that, it should all fit. good luck on your project. by the way, did you clip come with the headlights? and if they did, would you willing to part with them? I have a gen 1 gs300 with a toyota aristo conversion. all i need are the headlights engine. let me know what's up

  10. Is there a way to tell by the VIN if the 94GS has the touring package?

Love the car, a major difference from the 94 ES300 I have!

hey what's up... about the touring package on the gen I... i beleive you can tell if you have the touring package if your car comes with trac control. that's the only way i think you can tell your has the touring package.

  11. :( I have a 99 gs 400 with stock 16 inch chrome wheels. These wheels are new with new tires. The car vibrates at 60 MPH and above the vibration seems to be coming from the back. The dealer said it was the ball joints and worn tie rods, i have those replaced and also have a four wheel alignment. I balanced these wheels over and over with no success. they cant figured out what is causing it, has anyone have this problem?

mine vibrated around that, but i was due to my tires being warped. did you make sure the counters weights are still attached to the rim?

  12. I've got a problem with the window trim separating from the door on my 95 GS3. This gap creates a slight but annoying air leak around the window seal. Can someone tell me how to remove this trim piece without damaging it so I can properly reattach it? Is it held on with clips or double sided tape? Here's a photo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

screw that, it's 600 bucks down here at the lexus dealership... i'm laggin on replacing mine. mine is worse than the picture... i have to replace the whole thing. no way to salvage that thing... oh well... stupid airleak

  13. Hello everyone,

I am very new to any Lexus car. A few days ago I bought my 1st Lexus. Its a 1993 GS 300. I was hoping that I could get a few leads as to where I could find good performance upgrades for it. I have already found the body kit Im getting and the rims/tires im getting. My goal is to mod out the motor, fuel, air, exauhst and suspension to the max get as much grip and power as possible. While maintaining a luxury look. I dont want to change the interior very much mainly make it look new. The only change im looking to find for the interior is a aftermarket stereo mounting and wiring. I can't seem to find it and it doesn't appear the exist as far as Auto Sounds Plus is concerned. They want to do a fiberglass job on it. Please let me know of any suggestions any of you may have.

congrats on your purchase bro. i own a first gen gs300. these are my following mods.

    1. jdm admiration body kit - sold in the u.s. as titan aero kit except that my front bumper only fits the jdm foglights... (more show points at the car shows)

    2. aristo front grill

    3. aristo tail lights

    4. aristo emblems

    5. aristo cam cover

    6. aristo cruise control lever with kenji characters instead of english

    7. aristo airbag

    8. aristo fog lamps

    9. jdm VIP wing

    10. 19X9.5 all the way around wrapped in faulkens

    11. in dash dvd panasonic player with custom face plate.

now as for your questions... the wiring for the stereo exists in the trunk. you'll find the main harness' underneath the cd changer to the right hand side. there is a false bottom and when you take off the lining, you'll see the stock amp. in front of the stock amp are the main harness' to all your speakers including stereo. as for the custom face plate, i paid a pretty penny. mine is actually made out of partical board with matching paint for the interior colors. i do have hookups in japan if you are interested in aristo parts. as for your engine mods... go for the fmax turbo kit. very reliable per my friend in florida which actually owns his own shop and jdm car lot. his turbo gs300 was used in the fast and the furious 2... garage seen. but anyways those are my two cents. let me know what's up

  14. Hello,

a while ago I had a check engine light come on, it turned out to be oxygen sensor that went bad, after haivng replaced it at a shop, all was OK for a while, but, about 3K in miles later, the light came on again, and the code turned to be for an oxygen sensor again (but for another one now).

i searched the forums (did not find a topic exactly answering my question, but similar) and it seems that both sensors have to be replaced at once and replacing just one will just make the other sensor trip the code again.

now, when i replace the sensor, can i just replace one, or do I have to replace two?

also, I did not find a Haynes book on GS 300. can anybody help with a simple guide to replacing the sensor (i'm told it's as easy as replacing a light bulb)?

and if I take it to a shop, how much should I expect to pay to replace it?

i'm told (by the error code description) that it is the sensor located behind the first catalytic convertor, before the second one (and since there are two pair of sensors, how do I find out which of the two sensors to replace)?

    Thanks

if i'm not mistaken, one o2 sensor should be on your manifold and the other one should be down along the exaust pipes right next to your cats. check to see if that's where the 2nd sensor is. good luck. i think you need to replace both of them just to be safe.

  15. damn, i haven't been around the forums lately. been really busy. but i will tell you this, i watched the first D1 japanese drifting contest in L.A. today. that shiznit was bad !Removed!. hopefully you guys heard about it. they had a toyota chaser that was rocking the joint but got eliminated. we're talking the best of the best from japan drifting their j-spec cars. well anyways, i'll post some pics on the gs side for your viewing pleasure tomorrow.

  16. I noticed that when I come to a stop light, my idle is dropping pretty low....looks like 400rpm (less than halfway mark). What shoudl it be at and any idea on correcting this? I habd a fulkl blown 30K Lexus tune Up 6 months ago. I have an aftermarket air Filter Intake. Nothing Else.

When I change to Park or Neutral or revers....all is better.

    thanks

you might want to adjust the air to fuel ratio screw that's on your throttle body to raise the idle a bit. at a norm, my gs idles at about 800 rpm. good luck

  17. which bubble? there are 2 liquid measures....so should both of them be in tha center>? thanx again

when you start adjusting the headlights, you'll see the the bubble moving. just line up in the center of the liquid measures... inbetween the two lines so your lights will be even.

  18. i kno this question has been asked before but no one ever responded to them. i was wondering how 2 adjust tha headlights on a 93 gs cuz my driver side headlight shines 2 tha ground 2 much. someone please holla back. thnx in advance!! :whistles:

it should be the phillips screw that is visible at the top part of your headlights that should adjust your headlights. you should also have a liquid measure as well to match the other headlight. good luck

  19. It was a joke. 6 rounds in the ring with LL.

We probably have enough mods for the SC forum. If you are interested in becoming a mod maybe for another forum, pm Matt McNally...

Or just hang around. You'll see your chance when it comes.

hey what's up, all good in the hood. so tell me, what's the broo ha ha with being a mod? i'm sure you have special options and stuff. I'm just curious. But i'm all for posting up good stuff on here you know. I like to share my knowledge of cars, engines, etc... also I like to get along with people and have fun. so yeah, mod or not, I'm still in the mix and quite satisfied with all the members of this forum. have a great weekend. Remember, for valentine's day, you car comes first because she will never yell at you or give you crap. =)

  20. LOL not at all! Not one peice in any three of those interiors is shared. Lexus interiors look just as similar to their Toyota counterparts. All it is is family lineage.

The cars are even different sizes. The A4 is larger than the Jetta, but not as large as the Passat.

I think you need to go and test drive a VW and an Audi, they're very different cars.

You can be "true to your Aristo" and still acknowledge quality in other manufacturers.

i do acknwoledge the racing aspect of the audi. i think they are great in super touring. but as for a regular commercial car, i would still choose the gs3. i agree with the family lineage of both manufactures. but when it all comes down to it, the interiors are virtually the same with minor trim discrepency. so it goes with toyota/lexus. you can still tell who makes the car by the interior especially a VW and Audi. but it's all good in the hood, i'm all for my car and the super touring edition A4. but personally, not to discourage VW/Audi enthusiast... but i would go for the Audi instead of a Jetta if those were my only choices.

  21. You're the first person that I've ever heard say anything negative about an Audi interior ;)

And actually, not one component of the exteriors or interiors are shared between an Audi and a VW, except for little things like switchgear that Lexus shares with Toyota.

here are pictures of the interiors

    passat

    03606131990002LRG.jpg

    A4 audi

    04601051990007LRG.jpg

    jetta

    04606101990001LRG.jpg

so they are virtually identical with the exception of minor trimming. but i'm still not hating. i just expect more from audi that's all. i'm a fan on the design of the A4 quatro and supertouring edition. But will stay true to my ArIsTo.

  22. I dont at all agree on the interior. The A4 and the ES are constantly battling for the top rated entry level interior. Audi interiors are a thing of beauty, perfectly constructed, they get a lot of praise from the automotive press.

VW and Audi interiors are totally different. Thats like saying the interior of the Camry and the ES are the same, which is rediculous.

i beg to differ on the interiors on both the audi A4 and the volkswagen pasat/jetta. the interiors are almost identical and for an audi, i would expect more out of it. but it's all good though, i'm not hating on the audi A4 quatro, but actually a fan on watching them during super touring races. but either than that, i'm all for the gs3/aristo. but yeah, it's party time so everyone have a good weekend.
