  1. Hi All, I've been researching this problem. Results: I do not have the reprogramming procedure and even the dealer could not help me. They wanted me to purchase a new key to see if that would fix it and if that didn't do it they wanted me to purchase a new computer for the car and still they didn't know if that was going to fix it. I went to Kerney Mesa Lexus in San Diego California. I am stuck right now and no one seems to have an idea of how to fix this problem. I tried www.streetkeys.com and they could not help or recommend a place that might offer assistance.

how funny is that gilbert... you live in san diego too. i go to that dealership all the time. in fact i was there last week picking up some shocks for my car. small world my friend. i have a friend in florida that might help you with this situation, but you have to send him your key. let me know what's up

  2. One more reason to wish my car came with the factory upgraded radio/CD. Is there some easy way to maybe add an add'l powered sub or something to give the factory radio a little more kick? I am talking really easy, as I don't want to rewire the world here for my classic rock tastes.... B)

what's up brak, i rewired my factory sub to a sony amp and let me tell you, it kicks way better than with the factory amp. i'm into installing stereos and stuff so i'm pretty good with wiring. next time you come down, i'll help you rewire your stuff if you are up to it. you'll see the potential of your system! take care my friend

  3. TT619-That new paint job looks liquid! That is one nice '93 you got there! I am still looking for that "clean and simple" front lip. Keep your eyes & ears open my friend!

Here is the lip I see attached.

brak, what's up my friend. I'll email you later about that lip. But i'm glad you like the paint. I put it back in the shop because I backed up into a wall. I think you got my email on that too.

  4. Thank you All for providing valued information.  I appreciate you.  I will take all recommendations and make my inference.

    G

any time my friend... if you're intrested in any jdm parts, let me know what's up

TT, sorry to intervene but selling of parts from a non-approved vendor/member is not allowed.. This isn't fair to the vendors who pay money to be able to sell here.. This isn't a warning but a heads up.. If you'd like to become a vendor here Email Matt M.. Thanks..

    hey there mrsypher, no prob.

  5. MAN! Mine is black, too, but your paint job looks immaculate! Did you just recently paint it?

I did follow the remote wire but it stops under the center console and I don't know how to remove it, yet.

what's going on bro, my car is actually the lexus emerald green. i had it recently painted and that's the final product. thanks for the compliment. i don't own the manual but still looking for the instructions on how to remove the center console. do you have any pics of your car? post them up on the gallery. if you want to see what my car looked like before and after, check out the gs300 gallery pages around page 37 or 38 and on.

  6. Hey TT! You seem well read on the Lexus GS. I switch the remote key on and off and still no change. The remote key simply doesn't not want to play nice. I will research a bit more and find out what can be don. Thanks so far. G

hey gilbert what's up. sorry to hear that the switch wasn't a remedy. all i can say is that you have a faulty remote key or computer. might want to check with lexus about that. if i can find out any more info on the key, i'll hit you up.

  7. I have the FM Modulator. I control my CD Changer with a wired remote. By the way, NICE CAR!

Yes, my car came with this changer because the Lexus CD Changer that was in my trunk was broken. So, they put in an aftermarket Changer.

thanks for the props my friend. this is actually a jdm aristo. my car is in the picture below. as for your fm modulator... why don't you take your remote wire and follow it the modulator. i think if you open up the arm rest, there should be some screws at the bottom of the panel to remove... where the air vent is in the back side of the arm rest, you might be able to remove it and find some screws to remove it... those are the only recomendations i can give you at the moment. hope this helps your cause.

  8. Hi All, I replaced the battery on my key and it still will not open the trunk or lock and unlock the doors. I called the dealer regarding the problem and they said, it would be around $60.00 to reset something. Anyone have this type of problem and get it fixed with the help of a manual or some other method?

hey gilbert, whats up my friend... my my my you have lots of questions. well, the remote that's on your key will only lock and unlock your doors. it has no control to remotely open the trunk. and now a possible solution for your dilema. sit in your driver seat. directly left of your steering collumn and above your e-break release handle should be a little square area with a switch and a keylock of some sort.... well you'll see it... that switch controls your remote from your key to the computer which will enable or disable the remote signal. try pushing the button and see if you are able to lock and unlock your car. when i get home today, i'll take some pics, but i'm sure you can figure it out. good luck

  9. if your radio has a cd button your car is prewired for a factory changer in the trunk above the amplifier in the right quarterpanel. . a factory changer is best because the radio thinks a radio station is playing and does not turn on the trunk amp under the changer to full fidelity unless you push the cd button. there is an internal equalizer in the radio that only is activated if a factory cd player is attached. . so an fm changer is no better sound than listening to the fm radio...................................................................... the cost of a working used factory changer is the same price as a new fm changer so i dont see why anyone would want less fidelity for the same money plus the factory changer is controlled by the factory cd button radio p6802 which is the id number on the cassette flap door. if you have id number p1702 then you dont have a cd button and are not prewired. . another problem with fm changers is if you get near the fm radio tower the station will interfere with the fm changer cd while it is playing. . so hopefully you buy a used factory cd changer not an fm changer. even if you have the tape only non cd button radio you could change the radio and run a cd changer cable to enjoy the high end cd changer factory sound.

i must agree, i would go with the factory cd changer instead of purchasing and fm modulated one... for the soul reason because mine was a 10 disk and it was original. when you replace your head unit, then i would suggest changing your cd changer, but for now, stick with the stock one

  10. I am assuming it is between the center console and the backseat. Where should it be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PLEASE HELP. I only have the radio to listen to while all my CDs collect dust! :(

hey what's up, do you have the fm module controller? or are you able to control your cd changer from the stereo unit? well if you are able to control it from the stereo, then there should be a hard cable that goes directly to the modulator... did your car come with this cd changer?

  11. I have an aftermarket CD changer (PYLE) in my 96 GS300. Here's the dilemma. I need to get to the FM Modulator to replace a fuse. I know the FM Modulator is between my center console and my back seat. So, how do I take my center console off? Not the whole thing, just the part toward the back of the console (closest to the back) so I can look under there to see if the FM Modulator is under there. And how do I take my back seat out? I keep getting an error code on my changer and the manufacturer told me to check my fuses at the FM Modulator. PLEASE HELP! I am tired of listening to the RADIO!

why did they install the fm modular under the center console? and if you got installed at a car shop, have them replace the fuse for you. the center console is tricky to take off... i'll see if i can do research on how to take it off.

  12. I installed aftermarket factory style wing on my 2000 gs300. I tapped into factory 2 wire harness for wing LED and it works fine.

I burned out one trunklid bulb while testing wiring and relpaced it

I disconnected the factory coupler on the factory LED on deck and am now getting the idiot light for burned rear bulb.

I even reconnected factory LED on deck and idiot light stays on.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

sometimes when you tap into a hotwire, the computer is going to tell you that you have a light out when you really don't because of the voltage regulating through a spliced wire. another thing you can check is to make sure you have the correct wattage bulbs to replace the factory ones you burned. good luck

  13. Hey TT, I would like to install the original CD changer or an after market one. Is it prewired and ready? Someone told me in the trunk it is ready with wires, but I don't know much about my car yet. What is your experience with CD changers and what do you recommend?

    Thanks,

    G.

hey gilbert, what's going on. well the stock cd changer does go in the trunk. open your trunk, and look down at the mat. in the upper right hand corner of the map should be the place of the factory cd changer. there are two different mats that go in this trunk... one that's totally flat and one that actually houses a cd changer. if you take off the mat, you will see a stock factory amp with wiring. this is where the original cd changer cable needs to be connected. i've taken my factory one out and placed a panasonic cd changer. hope this helps you out. good luck

  14. Hi All, I just purchased the 93 GS300 and it didn't have a CD changer. The radio is orginial and has a cassette player. Anyone have an idea of what to avoid and what works great with it.

    Thanks,

    Gilbert

hey gilbert, so what are you trying to install? another head unit, original cd changer, or an aftermarket cd changer?

  15. Hi All, I just bought my 1993 GS300 and I am looking to replace the radiator fluid with Prestone II. I cannot find the drain plug and I would like recommendations on purchasing a repain manual for the GS300.

    Thank you,

    Gilbert

hey what's up, the drain plug will be at the bottom edge of the radiotor driver side. the butterfly wings will be facing towards the back of the car and will be white. hope that helps you out.

  16. on second thought, how much would a set of jdm head lights cost? do you know where I could see a pic? what about the tail lights? thanks a bunch!

hey alex, this is a pics of my friend's car in japan. it shows the jdm headlights. notice that the outter lens is clear. the amber piece is in the inside of the housing where the u.s. spec lights, the amber piece is on the outside.

  18. on second thought, how much would a set of jdm head lights cost? do you know where I could see a pic? what about the tail lights? thanks a bunch!

hey alex, what's up. I'll ask my friend in japan about the jdm headlights... he's looking for a set for my car. As for the aristo tail lights, i have an extra set of 96-97 tail lights that i'm willing to part with. they are in fair condition and if you want, i'll send you some pics of the set. they are the two tail lights and center tail with the word "aristo".

this is a price quote from my friend's shop in florida

92'- 97' GS300 Center Tail Lamp with "ARISTO" Logo $425.00

    92-95 GS300 Right Tail Lamp $79.00

    92-95 GS300 Left side tail lamp $79.00

of course my price will be much lower than $583.00.

    let me know what's up

  19. i came across a little problem with the install of the stock cd changer on my 98 gs 300. i bought the wire from a member here on loc since my stereo didint come prewired, so i used the wire and tried to install the changer everything went ok until i played a cd. the changer read the cd but no sound came out. none at all.all functions worked but the music wasnt coming out of the speakers. a little help, anybody? thanks.

maybe you don't have enough pins on that connector... if it's the cable i think it is... count them and see if it matches the number of holes on the player/head unit side. maybe that's why you're missing some sound, one pin too short... good luck on that piece
