Hey what's up, i got one of gs fog lights and took some pictures on what you need to do.

    fog light rear

just pull the one fog light out, and in the back, is a cover where you can unsrew and remove the bulb. you can probably get the bulb at your local auto parts store ore the dealer. good luck... it's a !Removed! to get the fogs out.

  2. Does anyone know of a website? where I can find some clear headlights for my 93 gs 300, besides of the factory ones that turn yellow after time. I have looked all over the internet but I can not find anything.

I also would like to put an awesome body kit. So, I am open for sugestions!

hey what's going on. i have a friend in japan that could find you some jdm headlights that has the clear lens all the way around and the yellow amber inside. about the body kit, i have the jdm admiration kit which is the equivalent to the u.s. spec titan kit. only difference is that my front bumper only takes the jdm fog lights which i have installed. the u.s. kit only fits the u.s. fog lights.

  3. Hello,

I am new to this board, so if this question has been asked and answered please forgive me and just direct me to the thread.

I have a 95 GS300 and I want to either clean or replace my headlight covers. Is there any product on the market that can clean the yellow tint. I have just had my GS repainted, replaced faded gold emblems with new chrome ones and added new chrome rims. So the old headlight covers stick out like a sore thumb. Any help you can give as far a cleaning or any place I can purchase them would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    jggs300

hey what's going on and welcome to the club. many members have asked the same question. if the yellow build up is on the outside, the i recomend a good polish/wax like macguires or mothers to remove that nasty yellow film. I personally use macguires hi tech yellow wax to remove mine... and let me tell you, it does wonders. they shine like brand new now. so instead of buying new headlights, you can simply clean the outside. now if they are on the inside, you're probably better off buying a clean set of headlights. one of the breathers on the housing is not working correctly and lets in the dew and stuff like that which will set in the inner lens. that or you can take it apart and clean them out yourself. the choice is yours. good luck.

  4. Turbochargers are great for high-end power and a peaky torque curve due the the lag since the turbo needs to spool up. Because of that, the bigger the turbo, the longer the lag and the less torque you have off the line. However, the potential for overall performance and power are much higher than a supercharger due to the ability to boost 1 bar and much further beyond (1 bar = 14.5 psi).

Superchargers (except for the vortex) are belt driven and work off the pulleys in your car. Since they are mechanical, they are limited by the size of the pulleys and the engine's baseline power. Because of this they are generally limited to 10psi and below in many import applications. However, since they are motor driven, the torque is instand and provides a long linear torque curve with great power off the line for very quick launches. The downside is the potential for higher boost pressure is bleak.

Many people in the import world prefer turbocharging to supercharging due to the higher potential for power in a small package. Also, turbo lag can be counteracted by simply using a nitrous kit that triggers at wide open throttle.

that is true, but it's all up to the driver if you want to go all motor, show, or both. the lag with turbo will only bother the driver if he likes to push the car. with the turbo. i wouldn't want to bother with a supercharger... the turbo setup is good enough for me... plus you have to think of gas too. but like i said, it's simply preference.

  5. Personally, I would just turbo the 2jz thats in it. The swap is sooo much money, and it wont even be fast with the stock supra motor. So you have to anticipate modding the GTE, which can be expensive when

using the RIGHT parts...but I dont know of another motor that yields better numbers after mods than the 2jz-GTE

well if he's got the cash, by all means, let him do it, but if you got the hookups, then it's all good too. but the ge and gte are two great motors. fmax the ge engine or get the gte swap. that or you can get the gte head with all components and swap it out with your ge head. it will bolt on to the block. then you don't have to worry about a total swap... but you gotta change out the tranny too, that or reinforce the valves in it.

  6. Hey guys, I know that this question has been beat to death on LOC, and I have searched SEVERAL past post on this topic. ;)

I might be purchasing a set of rims from a guy I work with and before I do, I need LOC's help and opinoins...

Will this set up work on my 99 GS3?

    20x8.5 +38 all around

    Tires:

    Nitto Performance ZR NT555

    225 35/20

He wants $2K but I know I can get hin down to at LEAST $1700....Also I would you all's honest opinion on how they would look on the car. This is not the style that I wanted to go with but I think they would look hot on the car.

Here is a pic of the rims

    car_027.sized.jpg

I put the rims against the car car to try to get a better feel for what they would look like:

    car_026.sized.jpg

    Any help would be appreciated....

    MonStarr

not to be a party pooper or anything, but i think those rims would look better on a mercedes benz... or like a caddy. but that's my opinion.

  7. Clubmembers

I own a 1993 GS300 and was thinking some engine improvements such as a supercharger or turbo. I live in northern Calif. What route should I go and who should I talk to. Thanks

personally i would go turbo on the car. there are a couple of turbo kits out there but the one that sticks out the most is fmax turbo kit.

    fmax turbo kit

but if you're down for your car, get the 2jzgte engine. twinturbo is twice the fun my friend, besides, that's an o.g. engine in japan that was taken away when our cars were brought to the states.

    zi96boxo.jpg

that's a toyota aristo (lexus gs300) from japan with the twinturbo supra engine. yes my friend it's stock. so i'm all for turbo.

  8. Hey people,

I was wondering if anybody knows how to cancel the security on the dash unit. I recently purchased my GS300 from an auction and can't trace back the original owners to get the 3 digit code. I checked my repair service manual and it says to look at the owner's manual, but it doesn't say how to reset the security code. I contacted Lexus and they want me to bring in the car, but I am afraid they're going to slap me with a bill for a hundred bucks or more just for some stupid code. :censored:

Also, I was wondering where the amplifier is for my speakers. I bought a GS w/o the CD changer and was thinking of just buying a new in dash unit w/ a custom install since the DIN is big. I am probably going to buy new components for the front and replace the rear sub, since earlier posts said that the amp is good. Was the head unit running the components and the amp just the sub? Anybody else tried changing their audio system and have any good suggestions? Also, how hard was the install, was it just plug and play or did you have to rewire your system? Thanks.

    Sid

lots of questions my friend. welcome to the forums and congrats on your new buy. this is a pic of my aristo with a dvd screen.

    toyota_aristo_interior.sized.jpg

the only hard part of the install is making the plate. that's about it. now you had a question on what powers the speakers. your amp powers everthing but the head unit. sub, mids, and tweeters. about the security code, can't help you there, but would suggest going to lexus because i think they would need your vin number in order to help you out with finding your security code. your stock amp is locating in the trunk under the flaps next to the passenger rear quarter panel.

    SPLICING_INTO_STOCK_AMP.sized.jpg

this is a pic of a brakatk's stock amp that i had bypassed to upgrade to new amp to power his new sub.

    SPLICE_INTO_AMP_2.sized.jpg

    here is the finished product.

    STOCK_AMP_COMPLETED.sized.jpg

so his setup consist of the stock amp to power his speakers and a sony amp to power his sub. doesn't take that long if you know what you're doing.

if you're going to just get an amp, it's going to be more work and not plug and play. i got the dvd head unit and powered all my speakers from the head and had a dedicated amp to my sub. it just depends on what your preference is. i'm all for the nakamich setup i have already. the setup i have is perfect and my stock sub puts out all kinds of bass so i'm set.

  9. yea good looking out man...all i had was some armor all and that helped hella now my light arnt pee yellow anymore...right on thanks

glad to hear that it all worked out fine with your lights. i'm always out to help fellow gs owners. enjoy your new clean lights. just remember to keep doing that when you wash your car. eventually they'll stop yellowing. mine did. they just stay clear now.

  10. how much u trying to get for those oem headlights after you get your jdms...i might want to getem off you if the price is right..

after i get my jdm headlights, i'll get rid of my u.s. spec for cheap... so i won't have them sitting around. what's wrong with your lights? let me know what's up.

my headlight look old...the lens turned yellow...when should you be getting your jdms??wheres a good place to check out parts for these cars???

hey what's up. when i bought my car, the headlights were yellower than *BLEEP*. all you have to do is get a good polish like mcguires or mothers and buff it out. do this a couple of times and your headlights will be clearer than before... and i mean clearer.

  11. Oh yeah...what exactly are coilovers and what is the major difference btweem them and springs?

    MonStarr

you can adjust the ride height with coil overs. personally, i don't think it's worth putting on coil overs because the ride is so rough. i'm all for the stock ride which my car rides like a dream on regular intrax springs. but that's my opinion.

  12. hey everybody im new to this whole lexus thing and i dont know where to look for parts..i ve owned my camaro ss for 3 years now thats my baby but i decided to get something that i can cruz around without eating up hella gas and having everybody and their mama trying to race me....but now anyways all i plan on doing with my lexus is tint, dubs, cold air intake, and dvd ps2 screens...i want the cold air just because i like the sound and the throttle responce it gives you (im trying to make a racer)i already have my race car..i just want to keep this luxery...but yea im proballygonna get bashed for this but i think it kinda retarded how people try to make there gs a racer like slaappin on exhaust a body kit and whatnot...i can understand you doing all that to a sc or something...well enough with all that...heres my question...where can i get a good c.a.i for a 93 gs300??///and what brand is the best??

sorry for such a long post but thanks for checking it out

well i don't know if it's retarded to kit up your car. i like mine kitted up. makes my car look mean.

    ARISTO_FRONT_PASSENGER_FINAL.sized.jpg

plus the toyota aristo conversion will get more points at car shows. about the cold air intake... i have no idea...

  13. I've seen double projector headlights (high and low beam) with clear turn signals on first gens. Can anyone tell me how much they run for or maybe a link to a site?

    THANX

the clear corner ones are jdm and should be glass. then there's a two piece headlight set from the uk that also has clear corners. they're pretty expensive right now. my friend in japan is trying to hook me up with some but are a bit pricey. brand new ones cost 600 bucks and i've seen a site with the same lights going for the same price.

  14. i wanted to change the head unit but im afraid that i 'm going to loose functions from the touch screen to use the radioand the cd changer. so how can i bypass the stock amp for a better one without changing anything alse? how is the out put on the stock head unit is it line level? all i wanted to do is change the amp and speakers until i get a another car and i could finish building the system with a nice head unit. is there anyway to do this thank you hector

hey hector, i was checking back on your post and sounds like your deal is more complicated. well since you don't have an upgraded head unit, then your rca preouts are useless. on top of that the only way you can hook up your amp is to "jerry rig it". either that or find an amp that has a 10 channel high input connection, but they don't make such things. the hook up i did on brakatk's system was quite easy. all i did was take high input signals from the rear speakers to receive the radio signal so i can power that sub. that's how it is in my car and let me tell you, both our cars rock hard. with a nice rich base line from the stock sub. it's not impossible for what you want, but it would be nice if you did have rca pre-outs.

  15. Hey, now that ive got a little cash saved up to put into the lexus, I was wondering what lowering springs I should purchase? How much should I lower my car? I have a TON of gap now, and would like to eliminate that, but in no way rub or look slammed. How much will they affect the ride of the car? How much does it usually cost to install lowering springs?

This picture expresses the horrible gap:

    85586_.jpg

i have intrax springs on my gen 1. i think i purchased them at about 200 bucks from a performance shop. it's been a long time and 100 bucks to lower. i'm satisfied with these springs for they still kept my original luxury ride. but that's just me. there are other ones out there but i'm rolling on 19in and does not rub for anything.

  16. I think you could boost a little more than 6 lbs on a 2jz and be safe....b16's can hold 6 lbs like nothin

honestly, i think you can pull 16 psi no problem. since the 2jz-ge has a lower compression ratio than the GTE, you'll be alright. now 18+ is pushing it, and 21+ is overkill. Think about it, this is toyota's pride and joy engine. bottom end are the same in both blocks with the exception of the compression ratio. these engines are able to take about 600hp without heavy modifications. i'm working on slapping a custom turbo kit and put out a goal of 450 hp daily driver. i have a friend in florida that's an expert in both lexus GSXXX's and toyota Aristo's. He owns both.

  17. Since I hear all about the first generation GS300 amps in the trunk getting water damaged all the time, and I'm going to get mine replaced due to this common problem, I was wondering if anyone has come with any creative idea of how to protect our amps from the water so I can try to make my replacement amp last longer than it did.

    Thanks in advance....

    Sam

hey sam, i've owned my GS3 quite a while now and it has never gotten any kind of water damage. in fact, since i replace it, it noticed that the area is bone dry... hmmm... where did you hear this from?

  18. I purchased a used 2000 Lexus GS300 last year. I just noticed that the windows in the car says "Toyota" instead of "Lexus". The car is in great condition and runs great. But this concerns me. Does this mean that the windows were replaced? <_<

oh yeah, don't be discouraged about the "toyota" signs. just a little JDM crash course for you...

    Lexus GSXXX = Toyota Aristo

  19.

I just got my AC juiced up and the Ac guy told me that my car was missing a fan.....I was like jigga whooo>??? I have the large engine fan that is inside engine housing, but he said there was supposed to be another fan in front of the radiator. I was like I didnt know that, but somehow this sounds fishy...This car was in an accident before I bought it so I guess it 'plausible' but I have never heard of 2 fans in an sc300 so someone pls fill me in....

Are there 2 freaking fans and my car is running retardad?// Or is this guy full of it and doesnt know what hes talking about.....

    Thanks guys!

if i'm right, there should be two fans besides the one running from the block.
