  1. Im undecided on what car to get, its either going to be a 00' GS3 or a 02' A4. I know the GS is a whole different category than the A4, but the the A4 would be 2 years newer, and also the GS will have a new body for 06'. So what do u guys think?

in my opinion, the audi should not stand against the gs300. overall, the gs3 is a much superior car than the audi. well all know that the gs3 is a toyota aristo and that the audi a4 is like the equivalent to the volkwagon derby. the engines on these audi/volkswagons are not reliable as the toyota engine especially the 2jz. on top of that, the interior of the gs3 is much more plush oppossed to the audi a4 which has the identical interior as a volkswagon jetta or passat. if the two cars were side by side, the gs3 would definately get more attention. that's just a general factor in my opinion. so out of all this, go for the 00' gs3. good luck with your decision.

  2. Hey everybody,

NEW MEMBER!! :D Just recently got a brand new GS430, I got the 17inch rims, the spoiler, the navi, and the sound system. The car is amazing and very fun to drive. After i tint the windows, i was thinking about getting new wheels. Any recommendations?

on a personal note, the style of rim that mrsypher and I have on our cars are probably the best looking ones out there so far.

    03_1_s.JPG

but that's my opinion. good luck on your decision.

  3. short arms are crap

loss of power ,mileage just added noise and slight increase in inital powerband as more efficent flow than a stock intake, but it sucks hot engine bay air which lowers the overall input of the engine

a cai is the only way to go

cold air so increase power and mileage and a nice noise also

i must agree with skperformance , cold air intake is the best way to go by a long shot. think of it this way, when you see guys run on the track, some of ice cubs inside their intake to run even colder air so they can get the most output they can from their block. so if you're running the cold air intake underneath your wheel well, the centricular force of your tire spin will automatically kick up the cold air that is circulating under your wheel well. but like skperformance posted, cold air will produce some power as oposed to the short air intake, which sucks a nut. good luck on your decision.

  4. so what do i have to do to become a moderator?

Survive six rounds with me, standard initiation...

sorry about the CAPS on the other post with the pics. didn't mean to have them on or to offend anyone. if you did get offended, my bad. i'm like notorious for the CAPS lock button being on all the time on the forums but just know, i don't do it on purpose. anyways, six rounds of what? fill me in. talk to you mods later.

  5. Actually, in Japan they use both GTE and GTTE.  TOyota-Factory uses the GTE designation for the Chaser, Cresta, and the Supra as it's GE Designator.  The T in GTE refers to an optional single turbo(TRD) allowing it to produce 200bhp on the mid to late 80s.  GTTE refers to the twin Turbos avaible(Toyota Factory) on every Soarer, Aristo, Chaser, Cresta, Supra, and the 88 Denso Supra GT500 car, but they changed to the GE designator for the NA-T, and GTE as the new Turbos. Even today, the guys in Japan use the GTTE designation instead of calling it jut GTE for the Twin setup.

This information is courtesy from my friend working at Toyota Motor Corp. Japan.

TO FINALLY CLARIFY AND PROVE THAT I AM RIGHT ABOUT THE "GTE" Vs. "GTTE" I HAVE FOUND PROOF.

LIKE I SAID IN THE PAST, I STAND FIRM WITH THE "GTE" READING ON THE STICKERS PLACED UNDER THE HOOD OF THESE CARS. "GTTE" DOES NOT EXIST... AND THERE YOU HAVE IT MY FRIENDS... OH YEAH, BTW, I DON'T SEE THE SECOND "T", DO YOU? HEE HEE... HAVE A GOOD DAY!

  6. Ok... I looked and looked and have not found anything about radio swaps.... Can someone help?

I want to change my factory radio with aftermarket. First I can not find a wiring adaptor kit, like other cars. Also, I can not find a plastic install kit for the vehicle either. WTF? Has anyone changed there radio with an aftermarket and can help me out.... THanks,

P.s. Plus my 12 disc changer is a POS, skipping junk!

    :censored:

hey what's up. i removed my stereo from my aristo and installed a panasonic dvd screen. the plate to cover the rest of the gaping hole was a custom piece of particle board and black spray paint to match the rest of the outside plastic trim. since the dvd player has a brain, i had to mount it in the trunk and connect everthing to the main wire harness that connects from your factory stereo to the factory amp. all i did was disconnect the wire harness and spliced into the existing wires and walla, my dvd player/screen plus all speakers work. the only extra piece of audio equipment i had to get was an amp to hook up to the factory sub. either than that, it's a piece of cake if you know the wiring. good luck with your project.

  7. okay my front seats are hard to the touch, becuase of the sun, the back seats are soft because i have tinted windows, so does any one know how i can make my front ones soft again, and clean them in the mean time.

    thanks.

i use eagle one leather cleaner/conditioner all around my seats. makes them feel brand new when i'm done with them.

  8. Guys and ladies, any advice on a set of 19x8.5" and 19x10" HRE fully polished with the aluminum center cap instead of plastic, full 3 piece wheels with Yokohama 245/35/19's up front and 275/30/19's in the rear.

Also looking at the Tein Flex coilovers and AP racing big brake kit. It has 14" front cross-drilled and slotted rotors and 6piston calipers. Stainless steel lines all the way around and oem drilled and slotted rear rotors.

Please any imput is much appreciated!!!

    Thanks

it sounds all good. is your car lowered or already lowered?

  9. I have a 2000 GS300/platinum edition. About what rpm range should i be indicating at 80 mph? I'm usually running right around hig mid 3s. If i'm not mistaken this tranny is a 5speed automatic.

lets see... at about 65 mph, mine runs under 3000 rpms, mid 3000 rpm sounds about right for 80mph

  10. i am in the currently unempolyed tax bracket

but i also have a true custom performance /modification buisness

meaning if you can dream it ( and pay for it)

i will find a way to build it

can't we all just get along... just kidding, glad everything is squashed between lexus and honda

  11. I have decided to change out my 1993 SC300 engine with a lower mileage stock replacement after discovering head gasket or head problems with my engine (please see "Coolant Bubbling (boiling?) Through Reservoir, Need help figuring out why.").

As far as the new engine, it is reported to be a 75,000 mile USA version with no problems. I plan to replace water pump, timing belt, check valve clearance, and replace plugs before installation.

I will replace transmission mounts, probably motor mounts, all hoses, and any other rubber pieces I can find.

I do not know if there are quality parts aftermarket for this or if I need to stick with Lexus parts.

Any other ideas on how to tackle this would ba appreciated. My goal is low maintenance stock stuff, but I would not mind a custom look under the hood if I can get high quality stainless braided hoses.

    Thanks for any help.

    Bill Harrison

are you ripping out the whole engine or are you replacing the short block? just curious. i would go with the original lexus hoses.

  12. I have a 1995 SC300 and when the sunroof is closed and I travel at 60+ mph I can hear the wind noise. I was wonder if this is normal for a 9 year old car, and if so is there anything I can do to make the seal better again. Thanks!

i had the same problem with my gs and all i did was remove two slide pins from the tracks, played and adjusted the sun roof window, lined up the holes for the slide pins and tapped them back in. after that, no more air leak problems. i don't know if this will for your cars, but it was a suggestion.

  13. TwinTurbo619, thanks for trying to help me out. Here's a picture of my steering column near the tilt wheel joystick. I don't see a square button that turns off the auto-tiltaway. If you have any further thoughts, let me know. Thanks.

hey man, sorry to say but you don't have that button on your steering collumn. that's a first. yeah, on mine, there is a button that reads "auto" where you can push it and it will turn into manual mode. as another member suggested, try pushing in the joy stick, maybe that will do the trick. good luck.

  14. Lowering my car...

I read the comments made in the link above and I was quite disterbed by it!!! I own a '00 Civic Si, bought it new, and to disrespect a group of people because of the car they drive is pretty ignorant and for a moderator to simply agree with them is sad... I know better than to cut springs and the people on the Civic/Honda forums don't think that way either... When I paid off my Civic, I then took the title and borrowed money on it to buy my '95 Lexus SC300... My '00 Civic Si is still worth more than my '95 Lexus SC300, which was worth more than twice as much as my Civic when it was new... I don't think that I'm better than anyone because of what I have or what kind of car I drive and don't want to be grouped with people that think like that... I guess disrespecting people on this board is alllowed... Lexus is nothing more than a Toyota with luxury options, which my car no longer has, because I pulled all that crap out... The SC300 is on the same platform as the '93-'95 Toyota Supra, the only difference is that it has a longer wheel base by 5 inches, you can keep the name "LEXUS"!!!

take it easy bro... we're looking out for the well being of other forum buddies here. we are not here to disrespect anyone but to help each other out as a team you know... just because we said that lowering a car with cut springs might not be the best way, doesn't mean you have to stand on your tide box and let hell break loose. these forums are designed for car enthusiast, in this case, LeXuS. of course almost all of know that lexus is just the upgraded version of toyota but it really doesn't matter what kind of car you really drive. like i said, we're here to help out each other and give our best responses. maybe you want to cut your springs because you think it's best or what ever, but that's your alternative. no here is stopping you. keep your cool.

  15. Can anyone source a Front Strut Brace for the 1st Gen GS 300s? I know a guy that got a used Aristo Brace from EBay, but that is it. Any clues appreciated-sorry if this is old news but I cannot find an answer searching LOC topics to date.

i have one being sent to me from japan and my contact is pretty reliable. are you looking into purchasing one? let me know what's up.

  16. Hey i also wanted to experiment with nitrous on my gs300 and i just ordered a nitrous express kit. does anyone know if i need any engine work before? i'm planning on a 75 shot and i think i can control the air/fuel ratio with my S-AFCII from apex-i. if anyone has any suggestions it would help..... thanx

PS. does anyone know the compression ratio on a 2nd generation 1998 gs 300?

you shouldn't worry too much about the nitrous as long as you don't get trigger happy on a daily basis. these engines can take about 5 to 600 hp without any extreme modifacations. the first thing that should go out when you go boost happy for a straight week are the piston rings, then the piston heads if they haven't melted yet or shot through your hood, but either than that, they will take 100 shot no problem.

  17. should be able to find any old red neck to cut the springs

i thought i would only see this kind of question on a civic board not here

yeah, i would also expect that question on a honda forum as well. just save up some cash and get yourself some nice springs. don't ruin the lexus ride just because you want to go to a cheaper alternative. if you were thinking about cutting springs, then you should have not bought yourself a lexus. you'll just kill the name and disgrace the sc300.

  18. I know Lextreme has created a Supercharger kit for the V8s.  Maybe that;s the first place to start, if you haven't already.  Take a look at our Performance Upgrade Thread Pinned in our forum.

    TwinTurbo:

Here's a Webbased link, if you'd like, and I wouldn't exactly dismiss Import Tuner Magazine, since they're an established/published magazine company.  They can be sued for wrong information.

i guess since your a moderator and all, you can perform all kinds of magic. but anyways, i would like to see actual proof of the sticker that is placed underneath the hood that reads "2JZ-GTTE". so tell me what was the reason for the change up, and like i said, who ever put gtte probably did a typo where everyone and their mom followed.

You have the same option, it's called "EDIT". The changes are just in case I didn't get my point across. Apparently I didn't.

it's all good. i'm hear defending my end of what i know. no hard feeling eh... but as soon as you get your pics from your friend. let me know what's up. i would like to add that to my book of knowledge. good day to you.
