  1. my power steering fluid is running low and I was wondering is there a special, recomended fluid? Or will just your run of the mill power steering fluid do it?
  2. I looked at my coolant level today an it was about 3/4 inch below the bottom line, where it is supposed to be. I know that there is a huge debate over the red and the green coolant, I have the red coolant and need to get more, there are suggestions on this site to use only genuine red toyota coolant. Can I only get this at a toyota dealership? Does Autozone or Advance Auto sell an acceptable red substitute? Where is all the coolant going? I dont have any thing dripping from my car, so is it burning coolant, is that even possible?
  3. you can get a free maual if you register your car at lexus.com
  4. I agree the LS is horrible in snow, but i have found that it's not so bad with a full tank of gas and some sand bags in the trunk! The trac system helps a little, but not enough to matter!
  5. I had the same problem trying to find a new foglight, i was told that it was a type H3-C bulb. You might be able to find a xenon bulb of this type, im not really sure.
  6. Where is the throttle body? How do you remove and clean it?
  7. I am thinking about going and getting to tool, is it a standard reader? Does my 91 even have a diagnostic port, and if so where the heck is it?
  8. My 91 ls400 has a similar problem with the trac light. If it is a bad oxygen sensor how can i test this. How can i get the error codes for the trac system, do I need to take it to a lexus dealer, does a toyota dealer have the necessary equipment to figure out the problem? When my trac light comes on the traction control is lost but I still have anti-lock brakes!
  9. I was just looking around the market for an 2000-2001 rx300 and was wondering what options I should have, what options not to have (example: air suspension on the ls400s) and what problems are common for this vehicle. Any advice would be appreciated.
  10. There is 5 inches of snow on the ground up here in Ohio and that amount grows daily. I have been driving on some exremely icy, slushy streets. The TRAC sytem is great, it has helped me countless times to get going! I have noticed that sometimes while going between 30 and 40 MPH the trac light will come on and stay on, disabling the system. I just pull off and restart the car and it usually will go away. This is a serious problem for me, as recently it is happening more frequently. During the summer I have found that if the car sits in the sun the TRAC light comes on when the car starts and won't turn off, until I restart. During the winter I only have the problem after driving about 5 miles and will go away after a restart. Recntly the light will come right back on a mile or two later after restarting. HELP!!!!!!!!!!! What is it that is causing the sytem to freak out? If I took it to a Toyota dealer could they help me out, and for how much?
  11. I have noticed recently that my car's brakes are stuttering and sometimes squealing. I need new brake pads! There is a Toyota dealer in town. Is there any disadvantage to having it done at the Toyota dealer over the Lexus shop? Do both dealers use the same materials? About how much should I expect this to cost me at Toyota?
  12. Was it $125 for just one wheel or for all 4?
  13. How much is too much, as far as weight in the trunk (sandbags)?
  14. Hey I have a 91 LS400 and was looking into new tires. SW03ES you mentioned getting the continental extremecontacts. They got great reviews on tire rack. Did you get a set, if so did you like them?
  15. My 91 ls400 seems to have the paint flaking off of the wheels. The wheels are the original wheels for the car, with winter coming I am afraid of further deterioration. Is there any quick fix to stop anymore of the paint from chipping away? I really like the origninal wheels and dont plan on getting new ones. I have included a picture. Since the wheels are aluminum, they wont rust, right?
  16. I have read many statements that any ls owner should have snow tires. After driving through some snow and on some ice, I agree. I would like to have a set of 4 snow tires. What tires do you suggest and where can i get them cheap? I dont want to bother getting an all new set of wheels, I would just like to put my snow tires on the original rims, is there a problem doing it this way? Also, will weight in the trunk help with traction, if so how much is too much? I would like to get these tires on ASAP...Any help would be appreciated!

  18. I will post pics as soon as I have time to!
  19. If I was to get snow tires, do I have to replace all 4 tires, or just the 2 drive wheel's tires?
  20. sebastor, When I took the non-working speaker out there was nothing visually wrong with it, I plugged in another speaker with a similar ratings and it worked fine. I talked to a friend of mine, a car audio know it all, he said it was probably a broken or melted coil, whatever that means.
  21. I replaced my 91 ls400 timing belt at 154000 miles. I got it done at a local toyota dealership, got it done a lot cheaper than the lexus dealer quoted. The service guy never said anything about the belt, like if it was frayed or anything.
  22. I just got around to installing the front speakers. I bought a pair of ts-g1047 speakers. They are the cheap 4 inch speakers that pioneer makes. I got them at the local best buy. I got this specific pair because they matched the continuous wattage rating of the Nakamichi stock speakers, 20 watt. Pioneer was also the Lexus oem for my 91 ls400. The speakers fit in the little box and they even were able to be screwed into the existing screw holes with a little effort. They sound great, they don't require anymore power than the original Nakamichi either.
  23. I have a 1991 LS400 and as you could expect it has several chips and scratches. Can I get one of these "pens" at a local Auto Zone or Advance Auto?
  24. In my 91 LS the power mode only makes my shifts rougher. I don't even bother using the power mode, if i push the button on the floor (if I floor it) it is just as powerful regardless of the mode.
  25. For my 91 LS the directions on replacement of these bulbs is in the manual. If you need a manual you can register with lexus and request one free of charge.
