  1. I posted something like this a while back. Turns out for me it was the differential. On the lift with the engine going, My mechanic and I heard the same drone that I had reported at hwy speeds. Very annoying. The diff turned out to be a previous repair done by the prior owner. It was a salvage part that i did not know about. While in the rear end, I had him replace the knuckle bushings (split), axle boots (leaking grease a little) and the wheel bearing on one side.
  2. wolver1ne516, Could you pass on the name and point of contact of the control arm supplier that you used? I could not seem to duplicate your results on the parts.com web site. Thanks in advance.
  3. I have the unfortunate instance to have two Fittipaldi rims that are not true. Both have a flat spot from a curb impact (a guess). The rims are brushed aluminum and have been discontinued from production. I have not had success finding them on Ebay/internet. Has anybody tried a rim repair for this kind of condition? I spoke to one shop that would service them (est. 60 per wheel), under the condition that there could be some potential damage to the finish. At this point, that does not sound too bad if it could be done well. I only want to minimize the vibration caused by them. I have them located in the rear to reduce the vibration in the front end/ steering wheel. Should I just save the money and apply it toward a new set?
  4. Thanks all for the input. I will post later the outcome next week.
  5. I have an interesting noise stemming from the rear of my 91 LS at a specific speed range of 61-69mph. It sounds like a low-pitched hum. It occurs in overdrive and with pwr/normal transmission options set. I had the differential serviced to remedy it but to no avail. I have some documentation from the previous owner that indicates that the rear knuckle bushings are worn and the rear axle boots leak grease. I figure the bushings would affect ride quality mostly and that the leaking boots are the area to concentrate on. I see that there are two on each knuckle (L/R) and two on each CV joint (L/R). Which ones qualify for the term 'rear axle boots'? If the boots leak, what is likely to fail? CV joint, wheel bearing... Thanks to all for the valuable information contained in this forum.
  6. What is the part number for the lamp? I have one out of service as well.
  7. I noticed the same noise problem on my 91. I was thinking it was the sway bar ( stabilizer ) bushings as well. I am replacing them this week once I receive them. (~$50) I didn't think to lube them. I figured anything rubber and exposed underneath this well aged car is by now hardened and not up to par.
