  1. Took delivery recently on breakwater blue metallic with light gray interior. Very nice. Looked good under neon lights in the showroom, but even better outdoors. Appears mostly silver with a hint of blue.
  2. I just remembered these cars have electric power steering.
  3. Not normal. After you check the air pressures, I would take it to an alignment place. They can give you a before and after reading, as compared with the specs for your car. Sounds to me like too much negative camber and/or toe in at the front, but I would have all 4 checked. Likely the dealer will not reimburse this, but to me it would be worth it to know I am not chewing up tires, or that it was not just my imagination.
  4. I keep cars 12+ years and put a lot of miles on. I have experience paying for the repair of today's space shuttle type electronics. So I bought the extended warranty, even though I usually don't. It must be worth something at resale time.
  5. I don't have my manual handy, but maybe you could have the dealer adjust or disable it in the personal preferences. Annoying, and why I declined this option.
  6. I have it on my Porsche. It works extremely well. You need to put it on when the car is brand new, or after a front end respray. Your body shop should tell you to wait 30 days after respray without driving it.
  7. Stopped for gas just after the display read 0 miles. Took 15.6 gals to fill it to the brim.
  8. Ticket for missing front plate in CA is $30-40 depending on municipality.
  9. The IS models are rated "acceptable". Note that these surveys focus on passive safety. Nothing like avoiding an accident in the first place, with a car that handles and brakes well. Insurance Institute ratings
  10. The Borla exhaust on my son's BMW looks quality and sounds great. Low rumble at idle, loud when you get on it, no resonance in the cabin that I can detect. I would not have it on my IS350, though. Too much $$ and defeats the stealth aspect of the car.
  11. The microphone is above you in the interior light cluster.
  12. QUOTE(bartkat @ Nov 11 2006, 05:40 AM) It should be already pre-wired to use the shark fin. Uhh, last time I saw the install instructions, they said to use the existing sharkfin antenna connection. It should terminate somewhere in the right, forward portion of the trunk. You guys were both right. They used the shark fin antenna. I reckon the installer read the instructions. Anyway, I am a happy camper, and thanks for your help.
  13. Welcome to the world of higher performance handling. On top of what you mentioned, they will also tell you that the fronts and rears are different sizes, therefore cannot be rotated. Or maybe yours are the same. But you did get an extra 0.1g of lateral handling.
  14. Just dropped off the car at Lexus service. Service writer says the add-on XM unit is not prewired to the shark fin. Will be the small sat antenna mounted to the rear glass high on the passenger side, and they have to run wire to the dash. But the controls will be integrated in the existing Nav display. I hope they know what they are doing. :chairshot:
  15. I have owned my new IS350 for 2 weeks. I live in the congested SF Bay Area, where a stick is no fun. My other car is a 6 speed Porsche, which I have not driven since I got the IS350. Until early this morning, when I took it out for a blast on some remote back roads. Different cars for different driving conditions.
  16. 1. HP gains are very hard to document - same dyno, same day, same gas, same temp, back-to-back readings with/without. 2. The "butt dyno" can barely detect 12-18 HP. 3. Some exhaust systems have annnoying resonance in the cabin at mid range rpm. 4. Try to listen to one before you buy.
  17. Thanks bartkat. That's what I thought. Hopefully they know that too and don't try to mount a separate antenna on the trunk.
  18. I have a 2007 IS 350 that is going in to Lexus service Monday for installation of the Lexus OEM XM Sat Radio. Should they use the existing shark fin antenna, or will they have to put another antenna on the trunk and wire through to the Nav/radio in the dash?
