I've used Lexol on my Lexus and other vehicles as well and I'm quite pleased with the results. The Lexol Leather Conditioner leaves the leather soft and moisturised....beter then new. I'm very pleased with the results....if your interested here is a link to a vehicle I detailed and I used Lexol for the leather and the results were quite nice, owner of the vehicle was blown away http://detailingbliss.com/forum/showthread.php?t=283 Hope this helps...oh by the way I personaly don't like the shiny look on leather but the owner did so that's why it was left that way..I personaly prefer the mate look on th leather....bu it's all personal preference.

I wanted to get my GX in black but my wife fell in love with silver and after driving it around for a day or two I understood why my wife liked the color. That and hides all imperfections quite well. Only draw back is that I can't get the depth or wet looks that black color vehicles get but if I detail it properly I can get some nice depth to it...well as much as I can for silver.

I would have to agree with what has been said here about improving the apperance of the vehicle. If you simply want to protect the vehicle then a quick wax job will do just fine...as to what wax to use? As previously mentioned it's all a personal preference...heck there are lots of products to choose from but if you really want to improve the apperance of your vehicle or to trule make your vehicle stand out a good polish to remove all imperfections from the vehicle is a must. The best tool to use to remove imperfections is a rotary but it does require some skills to be able to operate it and achive good results. There are Dual Action tools that are much safer and are very user friendly such as Porter Cable, Cyclo, UDM..ect...ect. Polishing a vehicle is fun, well at least I consider it to be fun, and if done properly it's very rewarding :D

Microfiber Cloth/towel Question

I use lots of different types of microfibers but when polishing I use the yellow Costco towels to remove polish, they work really good. The nice thing is that they are cheap something like $9 or $12 for a pack of 20. For removing wax, glaze sealants I use different types of microfibers. -
mburnickas - The vehicle looks great, very nice depth to it and a wicked reflection. Sounds like you know how to detail, I have a Makita as well plus other goodies :D. I too enjoy detailing my Lexus only draw back is that my Lexus is silver color and not black, black is apaint to maintain but when detailed properly it's easy to keep up...and not to mention it looks incredable. Vehicle looks great, thank you for sharing.

That is one fine looking IS you got there, I like the curves it has. Maybe it's just me but the vehicle just gives off a wicked vibe...but like I said that could just be me :D Pictures look great, thank you for sharing.

Hi, it's been a wile since I last posted here but glad to be back :D I baby my Lexus like you guys wouldn't beleave, hardly gets driven just use it on weekends or for family trips. It's funny when I first read these questions and comments I had no clue of what you guys were talking about. Yesterday, I detailed the interior of the car and now I know exactly what you’re talking about. I used Mothers cleaning and conditioner and the leather seems to absorb the conditioner. Well the only thing that I can recommend is that you maintain your leather. I spoke to a person that details leather and he recommended that in my climate (I live in Canada and its really dry where I live) that I clean and condition my leather at least once a month. He even recommended that when you are conditioning your leather you do it by hand, leave it for a few minutes and then wipe. Like I said I tried it last night and the leather seemed to absorb majority of the conditioner. The way it was explained to me is that leather is no different then your skin, you put lotion on your skin to keeping it from cracking so it's the same principal to the leather seats. Well hope this helps, but it's a good thing I asked because I've only had the car for about a month or two and I'm glad I'm taking care of the leather now rather then later.

Before I purchased my 2006 Lexus GX470, I test drove the LR3 and before I got in the car I liked how it looked. When I drove it, I thought it handeled okay, it does have some nice features that do catch your attention for example the extra moon roof and the Terrain Response that is supposed to make it a versatile vehicle for all types of weather condition. Not to mention that the third row seat are some what set up as theater seats, meaning that they are slightly elevated compared to the second row to give the third row passengers a better view of the road and the entertainment screen. So after carefully reviewing every detail of the vehicle and test driving it, I start to change the settings on the Terrain Response system and that's what got me started on the re-search. Well it was early 2006 (about January) when I started to seriously look into the LR3 and that's when I started to find out that Land Rover changed the entire system completely from the Discovery and not to mention that there was a merge with Ford during this time hence the reason why the new beginning. So I started to look into what problems have come up since the arrival of the LR3. So after digging up "dirt" on the LR3 I found out that the LR3 is rated very poor on "wiring system" and found out that this new Terrain Response even though it was a nice idea had many kinks to work out. Not to mention its engine, the engine and various parts have recalls...on a brand new 2006? Well that to me raised further curiosity. So I dug deeper and found out that the Land Rover is not very reliable as compared to the Lexus/Toyota GX470. The reason why I'm writing so much is because you requested an honest answer and well here is an honest answer. But you need to ask your self an important question, what do you want out of your new vehicle? Reliability? Looks? Luxury? or do you just want to spend your money on anything? Ultimately it's your choice and I was in your shoes at one point and after doing all my re-search and trying to dig up "dirt" on all the vehicles that I was interested in I finally chose Lexus/Toyota because of it's look's (interior and exterior, exterior is one of the best I've seen in a luxury SUV), because of it's proven reliability, because of it's safety features, because of it's engine, because of the dealership track record (now this some of you may not agree with me but the dealership that I deal with has and continues to bend backwards for me and well I feel they deserve my business) because of it's driving visibility....believe it or not the GX470 has one of the highest visibility stance...I didn't know this until I test drove it and made one of the mechanics measure the height of the vehicle and I compared it with the LR3 and others. Weather you lease or purchase, it's allot of money you are going to spend and I'm a strong believer in knowing what you’re getting into before you take the leap. So you asked "...So if you had to do it all over again would you get a LR3 or GX470...". My answer to that would be after doing all the re-search I did and making an informed decision I would say that I would still purchase a GX470. I'm not sure if my opinion will help you but I just wanted to answer you as honest as possible with out trying to sound bias because at one point I was at your position and it's a good position to be at but you don't want to regret your decision....oh and I too asked the same question you did so best of luck and like I said hope this helps you.

Yes, I was very fortunate to have the TSB done on my vehicle. Apparently, in my area only 3 or 4 vehicles actually got the TSB I thought it was weird but I guess some people don't really notice it. I'm definitely enjoying my car. Hope you get yours done soon....that goes out to all of you out there, wish you luck.

Ajbolit, That is my point exactly with my last post. I have numerous other problems with my TSB 470 as well. I also lucked out with my TSB fix. I waited 6 weeks for my parts and they never came in. After numerous phone calls to the service department, they gave me someone else's parts. They told me the person that they belonged to did not respond to the dealers followup to have their GX fixed, so I got those parts. It's nice to have my "clunk" gone. I wish you all the luck with yours. Hi, I recently went through the TSB for my Lexus and yes I do agree with you guys it's a real disappointment not to mention frustration I got my parts by phoning the parts manager numerous times, I think I averaged about twice a week :whistles: but you know what it was worth it. After about a month of phoning the parts manager consistently he got the point that I was not going to go away and it was about 6 to 8 weeks before I got my parts. Seems though that they have plenty of shafts, what they are missing are the other components to complete the assembly. I can't understand for the life of me why there is plenty of driveshaft but not enough of the rest of the parts to complete the TSB. I too went through a brand new 2006 GX470 with less then 2000KM and out of the blue the "clunk" came up....it is a complete let down and not to mention a judge :o to spend so much and to have a "noise". Well in my scenario though I re-searched the vehicle for at least 1.5years and I knew all about the "clunk" but I still choose to buy the vehicle why? Because I believe in Toyota and even though the vehicle may have it's downfalls in my opinion it's still a good car. It's not perfect but it beats any luxury SUV out in the market....well that's just my opinion though and I think some of you will agree with me. So I'm one of the fortunate ones that did get the TSB and I was very skeptic about the TSB. I didn't really trust it, but I'm glad I did get the TSB done to my vehicle because the way it drives with out any noise it's like a brand new feeling all over again...yes...yes...this is the way it should feel but give Toyota some credit at least they are doing something about it rather then ignore it...well maybe they did ignore it but I think that Toyota received a huge eye opener once they released the TSB and perhaps that's why they are short on parts. I just don't think they expected to have so many vehicles return...but then a gain that's just me and my opinion...I'm not sure if there are any others that feel the same way as I do :whistles:

I just got my TSB done to my vehicle and I did not notice any difference fueld economy. I do have to admit though, having the TSB done is wonderfull. The car feels great...smooooooooth.

Here is the lates, Just thought I'd share with you guys that I received a phone call from the service manager telling me that my baby is ready to be picked up. Service manager said everything went smooth and confirmed that no one tampered around with the factory hieght of the vehicle....since I was so uptight about it. I'm going to pick it up in about 20min. so I'll let you guys know how it rides on the way home. Can't wait to get my baby back...I feel as though I'm recieving the vehicle for the first time.

Hey TM8000, Sounds like you learned the hard way. My dad owned a Toyota Landcruiser and has always owned Toyota, now that I think about it our family has always owned Toyota B) . They are reliable cars and very easy to fix . My dad is no mechanic and he managed to fix his Toyotas all the time. I was born in a Toyota (not literally) and I'll always stick to what I know and that is Toyota is very reliable and well worth the money. But I'm surprised to hear that you were disappointed with both the Lincoln and the Escalade. Well I would never spend much coin on an American car, I'd rather stick to what I know works and that is Toyota....

Hi gang, Well I got good news from my end, I met with the service manager and the parts manager on October 27 and I was told that all my parts are in for fixing the so called "clunk". I explained to the service manager that I did not want anyone tampering with the standard height setting. The service manager assured and wrote it down that no one will temper with the factory height of the vehicle. The manager elaborated that should someone tamper with the height adjustment the entire alignment of the vehicle will be distorted and probably not handle very well. The only reason why I even brought this up with the service manager is because I read of someone who's GX went in to get the "clunk" fixed and wile changing the shaft they changed the setting of the factory height setting. Well I asked the service manager why the parts took so long to receive, at first the service manager said that it was because Toyota had to run some test but then he concluded that the tests are on going and that Toyota will soon start to mass produce the parts and should they will be made available "soon". The unfortunate thing is that a date or an approximate date was not given because the parts manager did not know. Looks like Toyota is not giving the dealerships any further information as to the time frame of the parts delivery. Seems though that from time to time Toyota will release some parts to dealerships and I know it has been said here before but just keep checking with your dealership. One thing though I wished that the dealership would stop doing is making this "clunk" sound like it's no big deal. That irritates me a little, I mean how would they feel if you purchased a $76K (Canadian money) and found that you have a "clunk"? Yes, I know that in no way the "clunk" prohibits the vehicle from being driven but I just hate the fact that I dished out so much money to settle for a "clunk". I don't like settling for anything, I know there is no perfect vehicle out there but to me I purchased the LEXUS GX470 because in my opinion it's as close to perfection as a Luxury SUV will get to...keep in mind that this is just my opinion and not all of you may feel the same way. Having said that I will give credit where it belongs, Toyota is trying to fix the problem and as many of you know it probably took Toyota some time (3 years or so) to resolve the issue but at least they are going that extra mile and effort to resolve the error...and that is why I purchased this vehicle...it's not perfect but there is no such thing as "perfect" and besides it's a Toyota and they have the knowledge and experience on how to build a good vehicle....well that's just my opinion. I just thought I’d share the good news with you guys and what I was told by my dealership. For those of you that are on the waiting list I hope this sheds some light.

My throughts exactly TM8000. I was told that by the end of the month of October I should be able to get the fix for the clunk done and I had a conversation with the parts manager again and this time he didn't sound so positive or confident. He told me that same thing, Toyota needs to run more tests and is not realeasing any parts just yet. I'm going to meet with the parts manager tomorrow so I may get more details. I'll keep you posted as to what I'm told.

I would strongly agree with all of you guys. I have never really owned a luxury SUV...I own an old beat up jeep (it's actually a nice car)...but it's no luxury (trust me on that, it has rust spots everywere). I took it on the highway and it's a sweet ride. I don't feel a bump, no wind sound...actually hardly any sound from outside. It gets lots of attention. I don't think there is a perfect car out there yet, so I don't expect the GX470 to it. I think it's worth every penny. I'm really curious to see the remodeling of the GX470. There is room to improve (always) but there are a few things that make it such a great car. The one thing that I'm really enjoying is the height. I don't think there is an SUV that can compare to the heigh of the Lexus....well I could be wrong but I drove a Mercedes and a BMW...I never did test drive an Escalade (I'm not interested on them). Lexus beat the competition hands down, well that's just my opinion. here's to the GX470

Hey akewlguy, That is one fine looking Lexus , so can you explain how you got that thing to shine so good. You couldn't have gotten that shine from a simple "Washed Lexus then put on a coat of Mcguires Wax.." <_< I'm always washing and waxing my GX470 and I thought mine looked good but your's is of the hook. Please, share the wealth .

Well another week gone by and so far nothing to report. But I do agree with you G Man. Can I ask you guys something though, despite the small issue with the parts and the entire "clunk" issue, do you think the vehicle is worth every penny (or man, many penny's :))

I was at the dealership today and the parts manager said that he is getting the same information as last time and that is, parts are still being held but will be released shortly. The parts manager sounded confident that within the next three weeks he will be receiving the parts required to do the tsb on my vehicle. Well the only thing I can do is keep my fingers crossed. I understand what you mean G Man, but the only thing that I can think of is that in some cases the tsb did not resolve the problem for some vehicles?? That's just my guess.
