  1. I've done it on my '06. I got the hack off of this site a while back. Try searching for it. I think I remember it though. -Start with E brake off -Start engine -Depress E brake, and leave engaged -Press the brake twice and hold it down on the second time -Release the E brake -Depress E brake, Release, Depress and leave engaged -Release brake -Depress brake twice (You should now see the traction control light illuminate, except this time it won't go off when you get to 15 mph) Have Fun! The car is a different beast with the VDIM disengaged. When you restart your car, the system will be started again. You have to do this everytime you want to turn it off.
  2. I currently drive BMW 325i. That's rear-wheel drive. There's a certain feel to the rear wheel drive. When I drove IS250, it felt a lot like my car. I guess I wanted to "upgrade" my car, either to a more stable car or a faster car. The driving feel I liked when I first test-drove IS was AWD. That's why :) Have you test drove the 350. If not, you might want to give it a try. I've seen complaints of the 250 being sluggish. Like bartkat said, if you are going to be doing a significant amount of driving in the snow and ice, then get the AWD, but by the time you add all of the upgrades to the 250, the price difference isn't that much. Plus you lose about 80 or so horses by going with the 250. Plus all of the extra weight of the AWD system will cut into the gas benefit of the 250.
  3. Do you mean you want reduced dust, and reduced performance?:whistles: My understanding is that ceramic pads are to be used with ceramic discs and are not appropriate with standard discs. I'm happy to be proven wrong. Thanks "tex2670," I heard about that but hadn't seen the document. I'll call the dealer today. "Bluey": As far as I've ever heard, ceramic pads can replace OEM pads without replacing the disc. And I meant increased performance.
  4. I was just wondering if anyone can give me recommendations for ceramic brake pads... price/brand/website? I'm going with the ceramics for reduced dust and performance.
  5. Don't use a screwdriver. I did and ended up breaking 3 of them. The way they work is, you push down on that little button in the middle and then simply lift them out. When you put them back in, you have to "reset" the little button. It's hard to explain, but if you keep using a screwdriver, you will break some.
  6. I think you will be fine if you rotate with a little premium every once in a while. I wouldn't drop to regular though. As for me with the 350, my car will see nothing but premium. It great having 93 octane here in GA.
  7. Have you tried going to www.edmunds.com? It will give you the base invoice and what people are paying in your area. You can then configure your car with options and see an updated price.
  8. I couldn't get it to work at first either. It took me about 4-5 times, but it does work. My warning doesn't beep anymore, the light just flashes on the dash.
  9. Those wheels are BAD. I'd love to have those but I could probably get some fairly nice aftermarkets for the same price.
  10. Okay, I agree that the rims look very nice. But to clear things up, those wheels on the blue IS are made by BBS. They are not lexus wheels. If the ISP wheels were chromed, they would look a lot like the BBS wheels, just without that nice offset.
  11. It's the steering wheel lock disengaging. You can here it also when you open the door after you turn off the car.
  12. Just get the 350 and be done with it. You can't risk letting your girlfriend beat you.
  13. I've got 6000 miles on mine and the average is 22.6 mpg. I do mostly highway driving to and from work, but it's a two lane hw with redlights, so there are stop-and-gos. I could probably average about 24-25 mpg if there weren't so many mustangs trying to race at 6:00 in the morning. I just can't take it easy for a whole tank. I'm so glad I got the 350. Oh... and I feel for you all on gas prices. Right now I'm getting premium for about 2.85 a gallon. Filled up for 2.76 yesterday.
  14. Congrats. Great car. I love the red/tan combination. You really have to see the matador red in person to appreciate how good it looks.
  15. Yeah, i've used K&N's on my other car for about 4 years. Thanks for the tip, but I was wondering had anyone installed one on their 350 yet?
  16. Has anyone installed a K&N or other high performance (non-stock) air filter on their car yet. I am planning on getting an aftermarket intake but would like to get a filter in the mean time. Right now, K&N's websight does not list a matching filter. Any part numbers would be appreciated.
  17. I definately plan on opening up the exhaust first. I really think the 300+ hp engine has a potential for a good sound. I don't however want some high note raspy sound like I'm cruising around on a weed-eater. An ecu upgrade would be very nice, anything to pull that power band down a little lower.
  18. I thought about ordering the LMS intake too. But if i'm going to spend $200-300 on an intake, I think I would like it too be a true "cold-air" intake. The LMS and Fujita models are both "short-ram". Oh, and bring on the chip please. I really would like some low end torque. I really like the performance of the car, but it feels like it has turbo-lag until you get to 4000 rpm.
  19. Those are rediculous prices for some pedals. I've been wanting to find some pedals but I'm not about to pay those prices. Hopefully, there will be a way to get them cheaper. Let me know if you hear something.
  20. Ok, Ok. So I may have been exagerrating a little bit. It might have been a whole car length. Due to the fact that I don't have the sophisticated electronics to measure a true 0-60 time, I just needed a real world test. An opportunity to test my new IS against a more heralded opponent seemed enticing. Regardless, my point was that Lexus did a really good job with the stock performance on the new IS. It just added to my satisfaction of my new purchase to have a corvette driver a little worried. I'm a car enthusiast, and actually really like pure American muscle. I wasn't at all downplaying the vette. I see him pretty often now on the road, and i'll make sure he knows when I start my upgrading. As for JIBBBY's SC, If he has nitrous like his story said, he probably did beat a stock IS.
  21. I reallly wouldn't stress about 0-60 times, it's quicker than anything in it's class(330, tl, g35, etc.) In fact, yesterday I was on my way to work and happened to pull up beside a 2002 corvette. We had already taunted each other back up the road, but I was anxious to see how quick I was from a dead stop. I switched into pwr mode and when the light turned green, I gunned it. My 350 handled it's own. He was only half a car length ahead of me as we approached the 80mph mark where we both let off the gas. Insurance is bad enough without a ticket. Although I really got beat, hey it was a corvette, what really made me feel good was when we got on up the road to another redlight and he shouted to me, "What do you got in that thing?" As if I was driving a '69 Camaro with a big block. My simple reply was, "It's stock". I love it. As if I didn't love the car enough already, I'm relly happy that I have vette owners worried with my car stock. I can't wait to start upgrading it, whenever these tuners start developing some decent stuff.
