  1. Seafoam is very popular i havent used it but u can give me some feed back about it.Also is there a chance that some of these Kerosene products can cause leaks in old engines with the old seals already hard going bad generally rear main seal.
  2. The Toyota compressor is fairly common on all its cars and therefore you should be able to get a nice deal at a junk yard and installed cheap too 50$ for compressor i would say 100 $ for replace and recharge. Then maybe it might be more depending on the mechanic but that sounds fair, and if you want you should be able to do it too replace the O rings when u replace the compressor and compressor oil.
  3. Hi guys i believe any well maintained ES can give anywhere from 19 to 30 per gallon I have a 99 and it gives 22-23 with city and hwy driving combined. I do put in regularly every oil change 3000 miles, gauranteed to pass additive in the gas tank which is supposed to clean the fuel system and also the pistons and chamber and overall reducing the emissions thus the name gauranteed to pass.i dont know if it helps gas mileage improvement but i still like it havent had any ill effects from it. I also clean the throttle body check air filter and air pressure on tires generally 34psi,and all fluids. Of course driving habits also will effect but thats our crazy days we cant help it or i cant help it (remember trac off check engine light issue) what do you guys do any help is good with the gas prices going up Thanks Abrar
  4. its not hard to change the gasket i had a 94 es300 and had changed the transmission pan gasket make sure to get the all rubber gasket not the cork type gasket its not good cause i have put both the cork one didnt last long ull get them at a local auto store i got mine from Orielly autozone had the cork one not good it comes with the filter too replace it 10 metric size bolts, about 16 or 17 .
  5. how much did they charge you, u can always get a cheap computer from the junk yards if the problem reoccurs hopefully not . best of luck
  6. is ur airbag malfunctioning. I had once turned my airbag light on by mistake by wrong battery terminals i took it to a toyota dealer and he cleared it for 45 $
  7. ill do that i didnt know it stored the code for a while
  8. ok I believe west is talking about heating up the system while toys is talking about a little off the sync speed sensor,I believe both conditions are possible anything is possible and i am trying to analyse and see what we all can think of. As far as heating the system is concerned yes i drove it hard it must have heated it but i just pushed the car like a couple of minutes in a safe place is a couple of minutes enough i was driving the car at regular speeds before that couple of minutes can cause it.Outside temp was nice and cool. about the speed sensor if there is gunk of something there thats the reason then it should keep comming back up or just the irregular spinning of both the wheels causing a misinterpretion by the computer confusing it but then the trac off has come on and it understands the car is spinning wheels out of the ordinary now to think does the check engine light come on on faulty speed sensor
  9. so a speed sensor can cause the check engine light. I thought it was meant for emmissions mainly.Any other possible reasons, cause she runs fine and havent had the check engine light back on
  10. I was driving my car hard a few days back and the tires were spinning which would engage the traction control often, i kept doing that for a little after which the Trac Off light came on so i stopped pushing the car when i stopped at the end of my journey and shut the engine and re started the car after which the trac off and check engine light came on i panicked and reset the computer by removing the battery terminal after which it has been fine.i pushed the car a little just to see if traction control is working and it is any clue why it came up as a check engine error code i didnt hook up a OBDII scanner. Thanks guys
  11. http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/used/re...dex.cfm/id/2271 this is a good link not much said here but brief yearly upgrades on the car still this is the best looking es out there
  12. My Bad sorry about the antenna i thought they didnt start that till 99, but i believe they have it from 1997 about the lights i am not sure but i believe they started daytime running lights as standard and a wait time for the lights to turn of when u get off the car to have your illumination till you walk into your house on 99 and older models but the main reason as u said about the sludging is true too as i had talked to a lexus dealer and he said mainly seen in 1997 and 98 with bad oil maintenance u have more chances to gel i disagree with the power part i have driven the 94 the 97 and the 99 and believe me you can feel the difference big time since the car has gained 10 hp it has also lost some weight too plus VVTi gives better fuel economy also the transmission is completely redesigned and it gives a good lift to the engine so my 99 does pick up a whole lot more faster with smoother shifts i am not sure but also they started the type four transmission fluid on these cars from that year which has been standard on all toyotas after that but the engine is the heart man you have to give it for the engine and since then toyota has encorporated VVTi in all its engines with better power and fuel economy so why not got for 99 and up thanks again
  13. wouldnt you buy the 99 year up cause the engine was upgraded this year on with VVTi with a boost in horse power too 210hp. some minor things also help as the antenna is no longer a mast its in the rear windshield and the automatic daytime running lights.not much but the engine really makes a difference. I just got mine with 110K for 7800$ you can always get the vin number go to any lexus dealer and check the service history if he doesnt have it on him best of luck
  14. U need help from preferably two people for this as one has to top up the reservoir, one has to pump the break pedal and hold it on ur command and you have to the blead the line at the wheels preferablly at all four wheels so u get all the old fuild out or at least one back wheel. make sure some one always fills the reservoir as u dont want air into the system. there is a small beeld valve at the back of the wheel hub and you should be able to loosen it with a 10 metric or plyers before you do that u might want to connect a tube on it so it doesnt spill everywhere and drain the fluid in a old oil container. when lose ask the person sitting in the driver seat to pump the break, good idea to keep the car running so u have break booster to help assist .The pedal should be pumbed and heldand fluid will come out of the valve loosened by you tighten the valve before he releases the pedal back up so again air doesnt go in from the valve u have loosened.do this step a few times making sure somone is adding the fluid at the reservoir and you should be able to flush your oil out.hope this helps maybe this also helps to get a little idea in pictures
  15. cant we do two exausts like the es 350 or many other cars generally called as headers wont that be better and more power . is it easy to get done at a custom muffuler shop is it worth it how much do u think it will cost
  16. Hi guys just wanted to see how much we have bought our lovely ES300 for lets start from me i had a 94 es300 which was in excellent condition and i had it for a year i got it for $6000 ,110Kmiles and sold it 5500$,121Kmiles i did maintain it well flushed transmission and changed spark plugs. i bought a 1999 ES300 a month ago it has 110K miles for 7600$ it has had a 90K service at lexus and i flushed the transmission and fluids also cleaned the throthle body. Shes doin fine for now and i love it sooooo much lemme know your story thanks
  17. Its normal try to test drive another car of same make and year to verify just go to a dealer like u want to buy it and test drive it ull know the difference if any u could try maybe 2 or 3 if u have the time make sure its 99 though
  18. hi 1mz-fe is a great engine and unfortunately they didnt come with the manual transmission you will have to do a lot of changes and of course a lot of money too which will ultimately make the project unreasonable I think if you look on the internet you should be able to buy a great manual es300 in the 92 93 years for 5 grand i mean the whole car, then you can keep ur old one for spares
  19. It does say its O2 sensor safe catalytic convertor safe and also safe for coated throttle bodies and i ve used it a few times no problemooooo its specifically called throtle body cleaner for fuel injected vehicles by CRC in a red can
  20. see the difference you can buy the whole set and replace both matching or look for the ones u want there are also some toyota windom headlight assemblies that are there but i believe the low beam bulb is different on it and you might have some trouble getting it
  21. hey guys i have a 1999 ES300 i buy some throttle body cleaner from Walmart 3.40$ by CRC Warm the car up open the air intake the rubber connectors going from the air filter be careful if you remove them completely the car will get too rich a supply of air and die from a small opening put the spray in and shoot as much as you want i finish the whole can in it now when you are spraying it in, the car again gets a rich supply of cleaning spray alchol ethanol etc so u have to give the car a tad bit more acceleration so it doent die finish the can and it should help in the 1999 you have the throtle body intake divided into two so you can take turns spraying in each one
  22. No dont get the 1993 headlight for your 1995.The 1992 to 1994 have a clear reflector in the headlight and the 1995 and 1996 have a smoked black reflector in the headlight assembly also there are two strips that run on the 1995 and 1996 headlight assembly lens you'll have to get either a 1995 or 1996 year models to match or replace both to look alike
  23. the !999 Models on the spark plug replacements has been changed to every 90K miles before that it was 60K
  24. Hi Guys i hvae a 99 ES300 which i recently got with 110K miles i went to the Lexus dealer and asked for the Lexus Service records on the car , The records stated the last major service at 90K, when i asked her what all was done at that service she said fluid replacement ,Spark plugs and Timing Belt. I asked if the water pump valve cover gaskets, and some other seals were also replaced she said no I thought when they replace the timing belt all that is standard replacement procedure. can anyone throw some light on this please. thanks
