Rear Passenger Side Headrest

I don't know how the small panel with the lock cylinder is held in place (it may just snap in) but you could remove the large lower panel under the dash and take a look from behind. Attached is a diagram from http://www.toyodiy.com/ - register and you can see lots of diagrams for your car. IMO, WD40 is very bad for locks. Use only lock lubricant. I noticed that by the time I sold my 90 LS in 2003 after driving it 13 years that the trunk lock cylinder was becoming balky -- I think it was just wearing out.

Every Toyota or Lexus I've owned has had a fuse puller in the main fuse box in the engine compartment. I think they are white. They are usually plugged into a slot in the fuse box. They look like plastic tweezers. If you haven't owned your car since new amd the fuse puller is missing, maybe a previous owner took them.

According to your owners manual (page attached), your car should have sensors in the bumpers if it has park assist. Either the button is on cars without park assist or your car has had new bumpers installed without park assist.

My decades old Sears/Craftsman floor jack is rated at only 1 1/2 tons but it lifts to exactly 18 inches. I remember buying a cheaper jack but returned it because it didn't lift nearly high enough and I then bought the Sears/Craftsman. Attached is a photo of the jack and the creeper someone once gave me as a gift.

What? The car's basic warranty applies to the wheels too. The wheels on my 00 LS were replaced under the car's basic warranty at the end of 2003 at about 40,000 miles. Lots of others on these forums have had their wheels replaced under warranty too. Has an exclusion on the wheels been added to the warranty? Did the dealer rep show you where the warranty excludes wheels?

Need Help Plz! Device In My Car And I Dont Know What It Is?
1990LS400 replied to fatin's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
I can't see your photo but the "device" may be a transponder for automatically paying tolls on toll roads and bridges. They are almost always mounted on the inside of the windshield but usually near the rear view mirror. Can you see any markings on the device? -
Do you have a good high range hydraulic floor jack? Using mine I can get one our cars up on four jack stands in maybe five minutes. And I never lay on a concrete floor. I've got a confortable mechanics "creeper" with a nice padded headrest. I doubt if it would cost $150 to buy a nice floor jack and creeper. Mine have got around 30 years on them are are still in great shape after countless uses.

Neither Front Heated Seat Works 97 Es 300
1990LS400 replied to jimgu1964's topic in Workshop Tutorials - Lexus How To Guides
What are "fuses and such"? Did your mechanic perform the seat heater diagnostic routine described in the repair manual set for your car? The routine involves testing each component of the seat heater system by testing pins on switches and connectors for resistance, continuity, voltage, etc. It is a foolproof procedure that removes the guesswork and will tell you exactly what is wrong -- should take a competent mechanic less than one hour to perform. -

Do I Really Need To Put Premium Gas ?
1990LS400 replied to RX350MTL's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
The specifications for the 2010 RX350 for the U.S. market have the following footnote: [3]Ratings achieved using the required premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher. If premium fuel is not used, performance will decrease. It was recently announced that the only change on the 2011 ES350 is that it is "re-rated" to use regular fuel at a small loss in power and torque. Note that the word "re-designed" was not used -- only the word "re-rated". Doesn't your RX use the same engine as the ES of the same year? Sounds pretty much like our old 98 Camry V6 -- its owners manual says regular fuel is acceptable but that there is a slight performance increase if premium fuel is used. -
2006 Lexus Gs300 - 16 Inch Tires?
1990LS400 replied to J. Green's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Are the 16" inch wheels decent Lexus wheels? What do they look like? Maybe the original owner was looking for a more comfortable ride. Some people have punted their standard 17 and 18 inch Lexus wheels and gone to 16" wheels to get a better ride. -
Can't Use The Search Feature
1990LS400 replied to MikeMc's topic in Website Suggestions and Feedback
Thank you, Steve, for making the forum search the new default. Is there a way you could give use both the Google and the forum search? Maybe the Google search from the Search button at the top of the page and the forum search in the drop down menu at the bottom of the page ... the way it used to be. Mainly, Steve, thanks for keeping this forum going. -
Adjusting Turn-On/turn-Off Of Headlights
1990LS400 replied to RDC's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
See item 13 on the attached document. Customization of the LPS (Lexus Personalized Settings) requires a handheld scan tool and appropriate program card. Personally, I don't worry about the occasional switching between headlights and DRL. As the days become longer, it will probably cease to occur as often during your morning drive. GS_LPS.pdf -
Is This An Active Forum?
1990LS400 replied to chooseadisplayname's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
A reason you might not be getting help is that you don't give the model year of your car. Cars with the ES300 designation were sold from the 1992 through 2001 model years and there are distinct differences between model years. It would help if you would put the model year of your car in your profile so it displays when you ask a question ("19?? ES300" instead of only "ES300") or if you would put the model year in a signature. -
Question About A 91 Ls400 Air Shocks And 99 Ls400 Headlights
1990LS400 replied to rrose1968's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
I can help you only on your second question although I've never heard of manually pumping up the air suspension of an LS400. There are sensors on both the front and rear suspensions of the 98-00 LS400 with HID that sense how heavily the car is loaded and send the information to an ECU that sets the low beam headlight level each time the car is started. These sensors are similar to those on your 91 LS that determine the height of the car body on its air suspension. My repair manuals show the same height sensors on the front and rear suspension being used for both the air suspension and headlight self leveling on 98-00 LS400's that have both HID and air suspension. -
The procedure for replacing the taillight bulbs in the fender light assemblies in the 98-00 LS is very different than for the 90-94 LS -- your instructions are not going to help the original poster. A 98-00 LS fender mounted taillight assembly can be removed in about 30 seconds without removing any of the inside trunk trim like has to be done on the 90-94 LS400. It is much easier on a 98-00 LS than on a 90-94 LS -- I just went out to the garage and popped a taillight assembly off my 00 LS and had it reinstalled in about one minute.
-
Actually, it doesn't. Instructions for replacing bulbs are not in the later LS400 owners manuals like they were in owners manuals for the first generation LS400.
-
If you talking about a bulb in the light assembly on the right rear fender and not on the trunk lid, access to the bulbs is not from inside the trunk. Open the trunk lid and look for two small, round dime size pop off plastic covers on the inward side of the fender mounted tail light assembly. Pop off these two covers, remove the two screws and the entire light assembly should come right out.

You can order a new owners manual and view an owners manual online, including information about the Home Link garage door/gate opener and trip computer, at https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home It is not necessary to register on the Lexus website to view owners manuals online.

My 90 LS had a metal tab covered with plastic on each side of the lower front edge of the rear seat cushion where it meats the carpet. Pulling the tabs forward released the springs that hold the seat cushion to the floor. My 00 LS has similar springs holding the seat cushion to the floor but it does not have the tabs. Maybe your 93 is similar. The sear cushion removal instructions for my 00 LS simply say to grab the front lower edge of the seat cushion and pull upward. It wasn't that easy for me. I've only removed the seat cushion in my 00 LS a couple of times (back in 2004) and the first time I had to use a one foot long steel pry tool to pull the front edge of the seat cushion upward. Once I got the front edge of the cushion up, it was easy to remove it. The second time I removed the seat cushion, I didn't need the pry bar. Before you use a pry tool, slip your fingers under the lower leading edge of the seat cushion at about the center of the drivers or passenger side foot well and pull up. If you still can't get it up, PM me with your phone number/address and I'll bring my pry bar over. I'm in Lenexa.

Eagle Eyes headlights from eBay have been the answer for many including forum member Python: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49397&st=0&p=318583&hl=Eagle&fromsearch=1entry318583 I feel your pain. The main reason I sold my 90 LS in 2003 after 13 1/2 years was the poor headlights.

The attached instructions from the bracket company Pro.Fit show where the clips are and describe how to remove the bezel. RX300 gen 1 radio bezel removal instructions from ProFit.pdf

Where Do I Find Options On 1993 Ls--In Rear Car Seat?
1990LS400 replied to tansupplyman's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
Actually, all gen 1 and all other LS400's sold in the U.S. had tint embedded in the glass. It may not have been dark enough for many people (including me) so that's why so many of us had aftermarket tint film installed. My first LS400 (1990 white exterior) had gray tinted windows as standard. My 2000 LS400 (white exterior) has bronze tinted windows as standard. I had aftermarket tint installed on both cars in compliance with the regulations of the state in which I live. -
The "lip" as you called it was the factory installed standard equipment spoiler, part number 76081-50904, on the gen 1 LS400 and Celsior sold in a number of markets including the U.K. and Europe. The bumper covers on the gen 1 LS400 and Celsior sold outside North America are different. People have installed these spoilers on North American LS400's and, judging by the photos I've seen, they do not fit very well and look tacky and tacked on.
