What exactly is shown at the techinfo site? Does it show how to install the Sirius kit in a 05-06 GX??

I'm interested in a Sirius satellite kit for my 06 GX. I wonder if I should get the 05 or 06 LX Sirius Kit?

Don't do it. The '06 LX kit is designed for rear controls for the NAV. Your NAV (06 GX) and mine (05 GX) are identical. If you go with the '06 LX kit it won't work. Remember, the kit wasn't designed for your model. So then I should get the 05 LX kit for my 06 GX? I'm hoping Lexus comes out with a kit for the GX by springtime.

I have an 06 GX so I guess I better get the 06 kit when I get around to installing a satellite kit in the spring.

I like that little plate that they welded on with the lip...makes the oil drain neatly into the pan without spilling all over the block. Unlike my Explorer and other cars that I've owned. Yes, that is a nice touch that only Toyota would think of. When I change the oil filter on my V8 Grand Cherokee, the oil drips all over the left tie rod link and makes a mess. But then, its only a Jeep, but I also like it.

The Lexus GX470 was a brand new vehicle for Lexus for the 03 model year. So it is still considered a 1st generation vehicle. There are no major changes planned until the 09 model year. So it will look the same for 3 more years.

I spoke with Lexus last week and they said they don't have any plans for a satellite kit for the GX. But I figure the customer service people don't have a clue what the engineering people might be working on. I'm hoping they come out with a Sirius kit by springtime otherwise I'll get the LX kit because it comes with a roof mount antenna instead of the windshield mount antenna in the ES kit. These w/s mount antennas don't work as well as the roof mount antennas due to them not having a big metal surface for a ground plane.

But the ES kit comes with a windshield mount antenna which doesn't work as well as a roof mount antenna. The LX kit comes with a roof mount antenna.

You can get to the oil filter by removing the 4 bolts on the skid plate and just letting the skid plate hang there, but I wanted to see what the heck I was doing the first time. I placed the front of the GX on jack stands to make it easier to access the drian plug and oil filter, plus this angle drains the oil pan better.

I have a 3 car garage. 3 separate doors. The garage is 36' wide by 26' deep. The garage doors are 9' wide by 7'6" high. I park the GX in the left door, the Grand Cherokee in the middle and the right door has my motorcycle, JD tractor, generator, etc. Plenty of room even with the doors wide open on both vehicles. After living most of my life with a 1 car garage, I promised myself my next custom built home would have a 3 car garage. But it sounds like you will not have a problem, plus the GX with the navigation system has a back up camera which comes in handy.

[ I have an appointment on Jan 3, 06 to get it installed and will try to find out the kit name/number. I know for sure that this one is installed inside of the windshield by the rear view mirror. Saw one when I was shopping for the GX470. Then that means they used the ES kit.

There are 2 of the same size bolts as the 2 front ones and they are recessed in about 2". That skid plate is a little tricky to remove to get it out of the way. The 2 hooks at the front hold on pretty well.

Believe dealership can install this. I just bought a new 2006 GX470 two days ago. The dealer is offering a free Sirius radio. I just need to make an appointment to get it installed. This might be a joint market program between lexus and sirius radio. What I will get is a Sirius Radio plus 9 months service for free. After 9 months, I will need to pay for the services. When you have it done, could you post the part numbers of the Sirius kit that they install. It no doubt fits either the LX470 pr the ES330. The LX kit mounts the satellite antenna on the roof at the rear of the vehicle. The ES kit mounts the antenna on the inside of the windshield up by the rear view mirror. I would rather have the LX unit since the roof mount antenna works best for reception. Thats the reason why any satellite radios that come factory installed on other manufacturers vehicles always comes with an external antenna.

Lexus had a problem with the Lexus Owners part of their website for a few weeks. They just it sorted out yesterday. But they will tell you that it takes 4-6 weeks for your newly purchased Lexus to get into their system. I purchased my 06 GX in mid November and yesterday I finally got to register it. Well, sort of. When I put the VIN from my GX in, it said the vehicle with my VIN belonged to someone else. Since I purchased my GX within a week of it coming off the boat and with 3 miles on it, I kind of doubted it. I overrode it and then it accepted it.

I have a rolling code Liftmaster belt drive opener and I followed the directions in the owners manual and it worked on the first attempt.

My 2 week old 06 GX470 has some water spots on the outside side view mirror glass. I tried straight vinegar but it didn't remove the spots. What else can I try that will not ruin the mirror or destroy the water repellant mirror glass? Thanks

I've been told the LexusLink will be available some time in January. I didn't want it so I got my 06 GX now.

I wasn't doubting you so you didn't have to go to the trouble of showing the window sticker. I've also seen an 04 sticker that says 15/18. I guess only Lexus knows why the variation. But it is strange. I see that the Tow Hitch w/Ball Mount is listed as an option from the factory. I wonder if there is any difference from the 6500 lb. tow hitch that a Lexus dealer would install?

I don't think so..all of the 04's that I saw on the dealers lot when I was shopping all showed 15-19 on their window stickers, and the 04 Consumer Reports buyers guide showed the GX as 15-19 as well. My 05 is very quiet.

My late build 2004 had the added buttton on the side of the passenger seat, so that the controls match the drivers seat. Does yours have that? ← Yes, my late build 05 is the same way. I guess with the lumbar adjustment, its considered a 6 way power seat. I still think it should match the 10 way power drivers seat. Every 03-04 GX I've ever seen was rated 15 city and 18 highway. Even dealers that have them on the lot as used state the mpg as 15/18. Maybe you got a fluke?
