  1. The ends of the dial pointers are supposed to be lit in red. Yours is fine.
  2. I usually spray some silicone spray on the metal part where the hangar goes into the rubber doughnut and use a large pry bar to slide the rubber doughnut off the hangar.
  3. No special tools are required. Just a 1/2" and 3/8" ratchet wrenches and I believe a 12 and 17mm sockets. I did the installation myself but having a helper would make the job easier. Good luck.
  4. This is the official hitch that is made for the vehicle. http://www.lexus-parts.com/partdetail.asp?...ubCategoryID=16 Easiest one to install and the best, most clean installation. All the other brands hang down to low and none of the other brands have the hitch secured to the frame with as many bolts as the Lexus hitch. Lexus uses at least 4 extra large bolts which holds the hitch right in the center of the hitch. This is a very important mounting point which is overlooked by the other brands. It may cost more, but in the end, it's worth it. I've heard where many dealers will deduct more for an aftermarket hitch come trade in time.
  5. The official repair manuals are available from your dealer or from Materials Distribution Center. But they are a bit pricey. All four volumns which includes the wiring diagrams cost around $400.00.
  6. Your dealer is wrong. I have an 07 GX and it has the updated control arms and driveshaft. Before I traded my 06 GX (which had the updated parts) in, I measured the thickness of the lower control arms and they are the same on my 07. The old control arms were much thinner, since I measured them before having the TSIB done. I also see that the upper control arms have the proper color coded band on them that the old parts never had. So your dealer doesn't know (what a shock) what he is talking about.
  7. Don't do it. The '06 LX kit is designed for rear controls for the NAV. Your NAV (06 GX) and mine (05 GX) are identical. If you go with the '06 LX kit it won't work. Remember, the kit wasn't designed for your model. Does the CD changer need to be disconnected to work? I just had my '05 LX kit installed and it doesnt work. Something doesn't sound right. I had the 05-06 LX Sirius kit installed in my 05 and my 06 GX and it worked great. I would have it in my 07 GX, but Lexus changed the amp connections, so I had to settle for the XM kit. By the way, if anyone is interested, I have the Sirius LX kit with receiver and antenna for sale in the classifieds. Works great on the 05-06 GX with navigation and the LX.
  8. You have to initialize the windows and the moonroof. It explains how to do this in the owners manual. Unfortunately, it's the most unread book on earth.
  9. If you have the optional navigation system, it includes bluetooth. Otherwise it would cost a king's ransom to change the whole system over. It would be cheaper to get a new GX.
  10. OK I tried it the way you said and it worked but on Friday I couldn't get this to sound no matter what I tried. I guess I didn't wait long enough. Now another question will your truck lock itself? I noticed that if I use the remote to unlock the truck and if I don't get in it right away it will relock itself. But when leaving the truck the truck won't relock itself. The only way the vehicle will relock and arm is if you use the remote to unlock the vehicle and not open any door, the vehicle will relock and arm itself after about 30 seconds.
  11. One thing I did find out is.....when the keys are within range your security alarm will not work. I didn't know this. The alarm will not work if a key is left in the truck. Even if you lock and arm the truck the alarm will not go off if there is a key within range. That doesn't sound right. If I remove the key from the ignition, put the key in my pocket, lock the drivers door with the power lock switch and wait for the alarm to arm, about a half minute. Then open the inside door lock by hand (similar to what someone with a slim jim would do) open the door (remember, key is still in my pocket) and the alarm will surely sound. Yours doesn't sound like its working corectly.
  12. Lexus did away with the RSAS on the 07 GX470. They claim their GX customers never used it. I wonder?
  13. What kind of dealership doesn't have a tire changing machine? I hope you were joking?
  14. Hmmm? Sounds like you need to have your navigation system checked out. The one in my 07 GX understands me pretty well. And the Honda ones aren't that great either. I took a demo ride in the new 07 Acura MDX and the voice recognition in it had a very tough time trying to understand my salesmans commands. And the MDX unit isn't touch screen which is a big PITA.
  15. The 2 upper control arms also get replaced.
  16. I got a call from my dealer earlier today saying my GX came in last night. So I'm hoping to pick it up Monday afternoon.
  17. I have an 07 GX on order which got into the port (NJ) on Sunday, 11/12/06. My dealer is about a 3 hour ride north of Port Newark. The vehicle was supposed to be at the dealer on Wed. 11/15/06, but as of right now, they say they still haven't received the GX. Anyone have any ideas why it's already 2 days late? My dealer said that once its handed over from the port to the transit company, they have no way to track where the vehicle is located.
  18. All I know denslexusgx470 is, I drove a 2005 Ford Explorer to San Diego from Claremont. There was no "clunk", no odd noises, no bucking or surging up hills, there was no shifting from 5th to 4th over and over again, like some have complained, even going up small grades(I have that problem too) and the Ford had 15,000 miles on it. My GX470 has 4200 miles on it and it has been to the shop 5 times already! The Explorer has not had 1 day in the shop, other than oil changes. I own a 2001 LS 430. It has not had 1 day in the shop for any repairs, no 1 and it has 50,000 miles on it. The Lexus did not put it's best foot forward when it produced the GX 470. Maybe we should call it the TSB 470.......... Very simple. Trade the GX in on an 07 Explorer. I'm sure the Ford dealer would have to write you a check for the difference cince the GX would be worth more than a new Explorer. Just keep in mind that as soon as the Explorer leaves the dealers lot, it just lost $20,000. worth of value.
  19. 07's have the auxilliary jack for an ipod, etc. I believe its on the center console between the heated seat switches and the power outlet.
  20. I have a 06 GX and use a Motorola Razr phone with Cingular. When I make a call using the bluetooth system in the GX, I can always hear the phone I'm calling ring and also hear the other person answer the phone. Now the voice quality on either end isn't that great, but its understandable on both ends. Incoming calls mute out the audio system with a ringing tone and a incoming call message showing up on the nav system screen.
  21. The "clunk" doesn't occur on every GX but sounds like it occurs on most. Lexus has a TSIB that has the cure. The problem is the parts are on a lengthly backorder. But the GX is such a great vehicle, that I still went and purchased a new 06 last year. The clunk started to develop on mine around 3500 miles. Luckily the dealer had all the parts to correct it back then(this past July), so mine was cured.
  22. The navigation bypass works on the 05-06 GX470 with the Generation 4 navigation system. The 07 GX470 has a Generation 5 navigation system and from what I have read on another site, the bypass procedure doesn't work on it.
  23. Unless the dealer can locate one like you want and it is allocated to another dealer, they can usually do a swap at the port. Otherwise the dealer will have to place a special order. But many dealers don't like to place special orders since it takes from 2-4 months to get the vehicle. They always like to push the iron they have in stock or incoming in the very near future. You also usually will not get as great of a price on a special order.
  24. Check the bolts that hold on the front skid plate. The plate has to be removed to change the oil filter and it may have not been tightened properly. I agree. I bet that's the problem.
