  1. Loving every minute that I have my LS400!
  2. what is the crystal headlight?? cost?.. cost for xenon bulbs? Yes I have seen them and I am going to buy them!! Day three we drove to wifes graduation and it was great! AC works so well in these cars.. Much nicer then the retired Ford Contour SE. The CD changer works amazing also!! I love the sound.. The gentleman (Jim Walker) who fixes the dash light issue for $250.. Does anyone know how to contact him..? A KEWL STORY: Today after graduation my wife wanted ice cream so we went to this place by my house.. We pull up with about 100 people there and I back up the LEXUS. After ordering ice cream the LEXUS was by far the nicest car in the lot. It was awesome! Everyone thinks I am the wealthy business man!! Well I am working on it, but the car speaks for it self.. All my friends and family think its a 2000 until I state 1993.. I LOVE MY LEXUS!!
  3. What do xeons do?? Brighter? Farther? Anyone see any deals on the cd changers...?
  4. Amazing! I guess this is why the company has the best service and reputation!
  5. One way I look at this is a 93 with 93 is about 5k less then a 95 (11,500).. So in my eyes I could in all reality put 40k miles on 93 and still sell for 4-5.. Even three I get half my money back.. At that point I would proably just keep car as a backup.
  6. I am getting LEXUS checked out today for 100 bucks.. After this I am going to make a decision based on evaluation. Although the timing belt has not been changed I get see owner has taken care of car. He has about 12k records on basic repairs straight from the LEXUS dealer. What more could one ask for.. After searching for a while and driving other cars, I will complete one more review and then go from there.. I think there is a point where its more of a headache to press for a few hundred cut.. SO this price may have to do.
  7. The only problem is the old drivers who pull out in front of you..
  8. I am going to buy a 93 with 93k for 6900.. I did see two 95's with 70-80k miles for 10,700 to 11,500. Both of these I test drove over the past month. Both sold for the price stated. Did the car get the timing belt changed? Was the front end tight? I drove 3 and 2 of them had some clicking and shaking.... 2k for repairs to come.. Good luck and I love the 95 dash, but not the rims..
  9. Well guys and ladies one more day!! Ahhhhhh... 105 bucks for the check up from LEXUS... I am so pumped to be driving my LEXUS instead of a 91 Ford Taurus!! From the beginning I have done the complete spectrum of mental changes in my perfect car.. A month ago I did not know what the LEXUS was never mind any mechanical issues with car. Now I am just about an expert (10x's more knowledge then before).. When I go to dealers (private or commercial) they are amazed by my knowledge of the 93-98 LEXUS. It is really funny for a new Lexus guy to explain to an owner for 13 years the minor isses he is experiencing. My wife gets a kick out of it when one buyer was impressed by my knowledge.. Well tomorrow I have to get title and complete all the paperwork.. Wish me luck.. Thanks for all the support and knowledge!! I will show pictures Friday. WOW I would be so bummed if my car got totalled the first day..
  10. I completly agree with you.. This guy has a ton of money and his wife had to smack him around to drop it to 6900.. I am at the point where my time and effort is worth more then 400 bucks.. The car needs a new timing belt (90k), but overall I am happy with the price.. Do you have contact for the dash guy? Do the exhausts in these car go?? Seems they last forever.. No unusual smells or anything, but I was just curious Thanks..
  11. Hello fellow LEXUS owners!! I am extremly excited at 12:30AM about my future purchase of a 93 LS400. The car has one owner and is in great shape. For the most part I am extremly excited to drive around in this beautiful car! My wife and I will be the million dollar couple. Its funny each day I drive down the road and my eyes are attracted to other LS400's. For the most part I am far from an impulse buyer, but after test drives and reviewing this web site I am so pumped up to drive my LEXUS!! I hear from others it is common for others to let you go first at a stop sign. I know it is common to get others to look your way. After long rides one feels refreshed since its so smooth. There are so many pros that I know this will be a great experience every day I drive my LEXUS!! Well I better get some sleep, but I wanted to share the anticipated excitement!
  12. Car is in very good condition, but needs.... 1. New front tires 2. Lights in dash need to warm up when its cold to come on 3. 90k timing belt Owner states it was garaged all winters and has LEXUS records for first 75k of car. Front end felt fine, car drove and looked in good shape. A few knicks on back side fender.. Just curious of your opinion.. Thanks
  13. Tomorrow is the big day.. I have to decide between a LS 93 with 92k for 6500 or a 95 LS with 66k for 10k I know the 93 has one owner who took care of this car (If timing belt was completed I will buy). The second car is a dealer selling with 2 previous owners. The car was in an accident and hit on the left side. So I guess the test drive will say alot!! Any advice is greatly appreciated!!! Cheers to LEXUS
  14. Wow nice 90 LS400. I keep on moving closer and closer to buying a 2000, but then I look how well the 90's hold up and I am excited to get any year! Cheers to LEXUS
  15. I am not an expert.. This is a tough call. As I see it every 90k these cars need timing belt and front end work. At 180k you may start have issues with LED's, AC and power steering pump.. Maybe you have already changed some of these in the past. As far as looks I like the 94 over the 92. A little bit different look with larger tires, brakes and items as noted on link below. http://www.lexls.com/info/lsgenerations.html I read how these cars just go and go and go so I guess this is your decision. Personally I would sell the 92 and repair the 94 (check timing belt) and then expect at least 90k miles before another serious repair. Cheers to LEXUS
  16. 4500 for that car with those repairs sounds about right.. Make sure the front end is checked out by LEXUS.. That will cost about 1500 minimum.. Maybe this is why she has different tires..? Good luck.. Make sure you use this website as a guide and take it for a test drive. Cheers
  17. Garaged 93 with 90k miles for 8k.. Tomorrow test drive 3. I like the extras on the 95 but I guess anything is better then my 91 Ford Taurus and 95 Ford Contour... :) Tint and rims she will look awesome! What ya think of the price?
  18. Hope this helps... How much you paying?? I might buy a 93 with 93 for about 8k... Good News -- Vehicle qualifies for the CARFAX Buyback Guarantee! 19. Contacted seller and he stated he put about 2k in car and then sold for 2k more.. So 1995 with 83k for 11,500. I think this is about right.. Well on to look for what I want a black, tan or silver 97/98 with all the goods. Cheers to LEXUS Each day my step father says you should look at other cars and I am like I HAVE!! I know LEXUS at 100k with new timing and front end is just about better then anything else at 0 miles.
  20. For the past month I have researched the LS400 mostly on this website and prices on KBB and Cars.com. This is the general range of fair prices I have found on these years and models. Anyone know of other places to look for used LEXUS's? Anyone pay any good deals for any of these years? 93-94 LS400 100k miles 6- $8,000 150k+ 4.5 - $6,000 95-97 Nice dashinterior 90k 9.5-$13,000 130k 7.5- $11,000 98-99 Nice rims 75k 15-$18,000 Thanks NC211 FOR THE REPAIR TIME FRAMES (90k miles) AND COSTS POST: akewlguy, get to know this site very well, and you'll be fine. We know where the hook ups are and most of us have done most of our repairs on our own. That is how I learned it, and saved myself countless hundreds of dollars. You can take 2 approaches to the front end problems. You can diagnose which specific part and replace as you go. Or you can realize that they'll all need replacing soon anyway and do the whole thing at once, and on your own might I add. I don't know if you're a DYI type or not, but with a 24 inch breaker bar, a 150lb torque wrench, some sockets "deep set at 14mm and up", a floor jack and some jack stands you can fix anything you want to. My approach is to hit it all at once, suck up the costs, and get to enjoying your sweet ride which is like new, for WAY under the normal sticker price these days of most cars of $20k. The parts you'll probably need are: Front upper control arms (2) @ $269 ea. Front lower control arms (2) @ $190 ea. Front Strut Rods (2) @ $89 ea. Front struts/shocks (2) @ $48 ea. Front lower ball joints (2) @ $70 ea. Front outer tie rods (2) @ $42 ea. I recommend: rear struts/shocks (2) @ $47 ea. Motor Mounts (2) @ $89 ea. Tranny Mount (1) @ $31 ea. Rear Carrier Bushing fix kit @ $45. "might want mechanic to do this one, requires press". There is $1,719 in parts alone "excluding rear carrier". Now say you find a good indi mechanic at $65 an hour, expect about 12 hours of work for them to do it all. Or, spend another $150 in tools, rent a pitman arm puller from autozone and do the front suspension yourself, plus the tranny mount "takes 10 minutes" and have that same mechanic do the motor mounts at 2 hours, and you're in a new riding LS400 for $2,000 in upgrades. THAT IS TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE 90K SERVICE IS PART OF PURCHASE PRICE. If not, you better tack on another $800-$1000. Now, there will be rear suspension issues to come down the line later on, expect another grand in parts. But if you tell yourself "I'm going to have a Lexus LS400 for less than $16,000, which I know will last for another 100k miles in pure comfort" then really it's just a matter of patients with repairs. You tell me what you can find out in the market place that is even close to a LS400 for that price that won't wack you every single month for parts due to poor design flaws? You don't buy a car like this to make money when you sell it. You buy a car like this to enjoy it! You'll be flipped over, no doubt. But you'll be the happiest SOB you ever saw who owed more than it's blue book value!! parts site used to quote is....http://www.discounttoyotaparts.com/ I say dont forget to throw in TAXES, title and registration for another $1000 bucks.
