  1. GO to AAA and buy the platnum membership for about 119 bucks. Then you have 100 miles up to 5 times a year.. Works great and there is no questions asked.. :) Hope this helps..
  2. For sure I am getting a LEXUS.. Secondly I know that maintaining almost any car costs money.. If one uses the car dealer for repairs you might as well double the cost. The reason I purchased the Lexus Gold membership is because of the wonderful advice provided on this web site. I may not be the best monkey wrench in the world , but I have friends who are and they charge 30% of what the dealer charges. In my eyes this LS 91-97 makes me turn every time I see one. I love the look of the car. Also I love the interior of the 95-00 and the rims of the 98. Throw in a tan or black outside with a cream or tan inside and I am in love!! Not to mention the fact my wife and I will look like .com millionares.. Few points in my life have I been this excited with anticipation for a purchase. Now I just need to find my car and make the minor repairs for less then 15k. Personally I think this IV and V generation LEXUS is much more reliable and nicer then 99% of all cars made after it. Including the new bubble looking LEXUS's. Thanks for the informaiton and I am drooling for my new LEXUS!
  3. Wow sounds like the coach is a real beautiful car with some nice additions. Does anyone know about the increase in length? Also this coach leather? What is the difference between regular leather..? For the most part this car has the rims of the 98 (I love that improvement) and a few extra bells and whistles.. I am going to check one out this Friday.. Is there really that many changes between the 95 and 97..? Cheers to LEXUS!!~
  4. You are 100% right.. Either car will need a few thousand in repairs within a year or two.. Does anyone know about how much it costs for the average front end repairs? I mean LEXUS dealership vs. the standard garage? Thanks for the good analysis.. For the most part I see the 95 would need tires, nice new rims, winter tires, timing belt, front end work and taxes/registration.. Or about $3000 bucks.. After that its a new car! Cheers to LEXUS
  5. Great links with the rims.. Thanks They sold 4 nice rims for 400 bucks.. How can you beat that?
  6. Seems like the 93-94 front end lasts longer then the 95-98? I started out looking for a maintained 93-94 (timing belt, ball joints and lighting)... Then I went looking for a nice 95 (80k miles) $4k more base cost + timing belt and probably front end work. I love the dash and added features of the 95, but both need new rims. Maybe I should get a maintained 93/94 add rims and pray for no problems. If I have any I can usitlize website to repair my car. Would you rather have a repaired 93/94 with 140k ($6k) or a 95/96 with 90k (10k) that will need repairs?
  7. Hey LEXUS godz.. Recently I looked at a nice 95 LS. The car was wonderful, but the rims are laim. The next day I looked at a 98 LS and I love those rims. Does anyone know the cost and where to get nice LEXUS rims? Or nice rims in general? Anyone have pictures?
  8. You are right about the cost less then a kia. I did not test the 40 MPH test, but I believe something was wrong with the front end. After all the front tires were bald and I believe I heard a click on a low speed turn.. So if the 95 LS400 car is 10k and I need a few k in repairs I might as well look for a nice 98. After all they have awesome rims! Should one always get a Lexus checked out by the dealer before you buy??
  9. Wow I loved the little differences with the 95 LS. I am so happy I took the opportunity to take one for a test drive. Now I am sure that I want the third series or a 97-98 LS400. The car was amazingly quiet. My only concern was the fact that the front end did not feel 100% sound. A little bit of noise and a little bit of movement, but then I looked at the bald tires. I think that justified the issues, but I suspect this car would require an alignment The interior dash was much nicer then the 94. The minor changes with the headlights, taillights, 10hp and interior were also nice. From what I see the differences between 95 and 97 are minorm, but the cost is about 5k. Over all the car impressed me and now I know what I think I want.
  10. What amazes me is if you buy a 95 with 80-90k miles for 9k you could put 50k on it and sell for 5k. I suppose one would also have to get new timing belt, but still these cars hold there value extremly well. I just reviewed the generations link and I see the little difference from 94 to 95.. WOW I really like those small changes with the grill, 10hp, headlight and tail lights.. Well learning more each day.. Has anyone heard of a dead LS LEXUS? I suppose even those are worth something.
  11. I see a 4.5k LS 93 with 130k miles down in DC. You can find deals here and there on cars.com. Keep your eyes open for a while and there are deals.. They go fast so move quickly, but use the LS buying guide as your bible! I think I am giong to get a 95 with 82k miles for 9k. Not bad since it looks and runs great!
  12. These are stupid questions answered by my mechanic.. Disreguard my stupidity. Now I am looking into a 95 LS400 with 80k miles.. Screw messing around with ball joints, timing belts, LCD and other crap with a 93LS 135k. Its time for me I dig a bit deeper into my pockets instead of pinching a penny to make a dime. Okay ladies and gents this week I will have my LEXUS!!! THAT IS A PROMISE!! So I can move into the elite group of lexusownersclub gold members who have a LEXUS... :)
  13. Hello guys.. TWO QUESTIONS HOPEFULLY ANSWERED IN 1hr. 1. I might buy a 93 LS400 at 135k with no changed timing belt. That scares me but the price is very good (4k). There is also some minor issues, LCD & speakers but nothing big that I have recognized. 2. Should one get LEXUS parts straight from dealer or go to rockauto and get generic (such as steering pump): Adelco, A1Cardone?
  14. Wow, thanks for the in depth reply. For sure the LS400 is for me. I am so excited to get my first LEXUS sometime during the next two weeks. Although I am 5'10' we all know its nice to have extra room. Today the car I drove was a 93 and it was great. When I listened to the engine there was a light ticking sound is this normal? I think the LS400 93-00 is such a nice looking car!
  15. I proably screwed up by not cruising on the highway.. I only got up to 50mph on a back road with traffic.. To me this car seamed like the a comfortable caddie? Maybe if I took it around the curbs and got on it a bit more I would have experienced the true LEXUS.. One thing the car never reached 2500 RPMS.. Can one use 90 octain for gas in these V-8s?
  16. Today I drove my future LS400.. What a wonderful experience.. I used my knowledge from the website and reviewed all aspects of LEXUS.. As I drove the LS I noticed all the benefits including smooth ride, plenty of room, quiet engine and good pick up. Now I was thinking maybe this is too smooth. Is the ES a lot more sportier? Tighter on the curbs? Quicker acceleration? Who has experienced both?
  17. I guess the improved sound system is not really a big deal. It looks like the gold package was some gold in the rims and LEXUS logo?
  18. What is the difference and standard for the gold edition in 94..? What is with Nakami? Have a nice day and I cant wait to get my LEXUS!!!!
  19. Right now I am debating between two 92/93 LS400's. One has TRAC and the other does not.. Both about the same price.. 92 has 98k and 93 has 165k.. Both have been garaged and taken care of.. The TRAC control stands out because I live in the north.. Any one have experience with this system? Or any experience with the Blizzard tires? Or what ever they are I hear they are great in the snow? As usual thanks..
  20. Congrats man!! I am so excited for you.. I have never driven a LEXUS and next week I will buy one!! Going for the gold with the LS400! Enjoy the moment..
  21. The reason I am thinking of this car is it has trac control and he replaced lower ball joints, timing belt and one axle.. Also he has all Lexus receipts showing maintenance.. I am looking at other options, but to me 95, 94, 93 are close enough to take the one that has records and 4k of maintenance that I would have to do.. Thanks for all the input and I will continue to search before my test drive. What is funny is that I say well what about AC, LCD and lower ball joints.. This web site has helped me with the questions I need to ask..
  22. Thanks I get the impression any Lexus will be 10's nicer ride then my Ford Contour. :) Looking forward to getting my gold club membership when I get my car and pay for sticker!!
  23. Well I am narrowing my search from the ES to the wonderful LS400.. Now my price range is from 6 - 12k and I see so many available. I know the issues that come up with the 93/94's and some say "less chance of problem for 95 - ..." Well for sure these cars are at least 2 years older, 50k miles higher and $4k less so no big deal to me.. Rather have the cash.. Now on another message board some people state "Get the post 95 problems worked out". This may be so, but the differences are minor. I see the new is a few inches wider and 10 more horse, but overall really no major changes.. I was curioius if there was more then meets the eye's? Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Great news this week I am going for my first test drive in the LS400.. YEAH!!
  24. Hello.. I would like to get a car with 100k or less, but at that point it needs the timing belt so that is 8k + 1k = 9k or a car with 160k highway miles for 5k.. My concern now is the fact car was in the north for 12 years.. Does anyone have a solid body and high mileage after 12 years in the north? I know that lower ball joints go about 180-200k so reguardless of weather they will more then likely need to be changed.. What ever I choose will be my first Lexus and I will make a ton of money over next few years to buy a newer one then...
  25. Any one have experience with mileage and weather in the north.. Does the car need the auto traction system to survive the snow? Does everything under the auto rot away?
