  1. These are the Before and After for the grille kit from ebay. ***BEFORE KIT*** ***AFTER KIT*** What do you think?
  2. Hi there, I was wondering if there is anyone else who got their LS brought in directly from Japan. If there is, I was wondering if it came with the Japanese band stereo or North American. My LS is finally on the boat on the way here. My father is actually in Japan right now. He lives in Trinidad and runs a car import/parts import business to Trinidad from Japan. I've moved to Canada so I got him to find a North America Spec LHD Ls400 out there (Japan) and I'm sure glad i did now. The one he found (the first one being sent anyway) is immaculate. Was owned by some elserly people who hardly drove it. It is a 1990 (newest that can come into Canada right now). It has - get this - only 45000km on it (27000 miles), full options, everything that was available on the LS, upgraded tires, clear markers the works. I like that it is elegantly upgraded and not the psycho upgrades I;ve seen come out of Japan. I should have it in person in about 30 days when I'll post some more/better pics for you guys. :) I hate to admit it, but i'm actually excited! Already have my silverstars and a kit i found on ebay to add "chrome" to the grille. I'll add some before and afters from the auction pics. Any thoughts or tips for upgrades or changes based on the pics i have now? NB: The height in these pics is due to the air suspension (which should be in pristine condition i hope). ^_^
  3. Later model toyotas have a system installed in the steering system whereby if there has been a lot of strain on the steering system a pair of small plastic tubes begin to corrode. They put this in there simply to ensure that the system is overhauled frequently enough if it has been under a lot of stress. I have had to deal with this quite frequently on Toyota Crowns which my family uses as a fleet of taxis.
  4. <_< Here in Canada it's defferent in every province. BC both (not rear like SK said) Ontario both Saskatchewan both manitoba both the other provinces only require rear but there is some proceedings in order to change ablerta for safety reasons. <_<
  5. Fact is guys...the power button assumes that you dont work for car and driver and you arent flooring the pedal. A higher tendency to downshift results in better acceleration in NORMAL driving conditions. 0 - 60 with the pedal floored isn't normal. This is the reason driving stick is faster. You hold it in whatever gear until you want it to move on. The idea of power ETC is that for instance, going from quater throttle to half throttle, in normal mode at 45mph the car could just continue accelerating in 4th. In power mode though, the car with be more inclined to downshift thus moving you from 45 to 60 faster because it drops to 3rd. No psychology involved but you have to remember that not all cars are made for drags. In normal driving situations this technology is a thing of beauty giving you options about the way you and your car interact...not unlike the new cars that "learn" your driving style.
  6. I could probably go in for the lowest mileage. Just got it imported from Japan still LHD though. 1990 model. Only has 65,000km (39000Miles) on it. Every possible JAPANESE option installed. Amazing car. Owned by some elderly people in Japan so condition is amazing.
  7. Final assemble for all Lexus vehicles is quoted as being Japan...except the RX which lists both Japan and Canada for some reason...
  8. I just remember reading in Motortrend back in 1995 that the LS400 was the quietest car EVER tested at something like 47dB idling...their next closest car was a MB at 50dB (double the sound)
  9. Actually, IS = Altezza ES = Windom GS = Aristo SC = Soarer LS = Celsior LX = Land Cruiser CYGNUS GX = As far as i've seen from the toyota japan website, the GX seems to be exclusive to Lexus
