  2. Sounds like it could be the amp. Does the radio power up ? no the radio doesnt come on at all thanks 99.9% your radio is dead. You could bring it in to a reputable radio shop and have it checked out. Are you sure you checked all the fuses ? I beleive there are 2 or 3 fuses in the audio system.

  4. Schweeeetttttt Ride I'll take it.............
  5. Nc, You concern me, I am starting to think who is more difficult to please You or the wife :whistles: ??? I understand decisions aren't always easy to make, But anytime you look back at decisions one always has to say to themselves " Why didn't I do that a long time ago " or " Why didn't I think of that sooner " Anyway I am sure the dual car dilemma your facing will iron out and you will come back to this thread and say " Why didn't I do that a long time ago " or " Why didn't I think of that sooner " I don't envy the predicament your in. Time for Cheetos and Beer ?????????
  6. Have you given thought to a small trailer that you can hang on the wall in the garage? You know, Put a small detachable hitch on the LS or the wifes new car.

    Howcome?!?!?

That'll be AAA whole butter please ( preferably Wisconsin butter )
  8. Keep the LS and get yourself a hauler pickup truck and park it behind the garage.
  9. nc211, How do ? I changed the diffy fluid in the gs last year to synthetic and I also could feel/hear the difference, I have decided to change it out every 15k, If for nothing else it is a "feel good thing" and another confidence builder. ;)
  10. 'Lacebug Sydney' , Welcome to the forums, You should buy all of the parts online for the biggest discount. Then find a mechanic that soley works on toyotas/lexus for a reasonable hourly rate. Do any maintenance that you are capable of to reduce costs. Try irontoad.com, autopartswarehouse.com, sewelllexus.com just to name a few. I don't know what shipping will be. Maybe look for parts houses in your neck of the woods.
  11. Yeah, Disconnect the neg. terminal for a few minutes and that will reset the ecu. ;) Welcome to the club

    Howcome?!?!?

Toaster factory ??? You gotta be kiddin me
  13. When I said metal fatigue, I meant in the moving parts of the water pump, NOT the housing, and instead of "pictures can be deceiving", I should have also said, "looks are deceiving". :whistles: Agreed, I thought about that but I knew what you meant. Better to maintain than repair ;)

    Howcome?!?!?

Actually, The reason is because of the different breads/bagles/muffins that are available all have a different browning factor. A slice of white bread will brown with the toaster set on med. While a bagle might need a double toasting with the toaster set on dark. ;)
  15. True, Pictures can be deceiving. If you replace the timing belt by visual wear after the 90k say you check it visually @120k and it looks fine, The chances of making the decision to replace the belt become less until your luck is stretched to it's limits or the belt breaks. Metal fatigue in a water pump housing is almost non existant, The wear is in the bearing and worn down impeller, o-ring and gasket. I thought that I pushed it a bit @112k and the confidence that was gained is worth the $ by itself.
  16. Here are pic's of the old timing belt, waterpump and thermostat. Everything looks very clean inside and the impeller looks like new inside the pump, The timing belt has no cracks or visual signs of fraying of any kind. The gs has 112,000 on it and these are all opriginal parts. So in my estimation a toyota timing belt will last alot longer than 90,000 and that goes for the pump also. I hope this puts some members at ease if they are overly concerned about there timing belt and waterpump failing close to the 90,000 mark. The pic's aren't the best, But you get the idea.
  17. It sounds like the starter contacts need replacing. How old and what type battery do you have ?
  18. I concur, ASL = Automatic Sound Levelizer. The volume is automatically raised or lowered according to ambient sound levels. It does not affect the equalization at all. ;)
  19. Lap Dance B)
  20. I looked at the Kumho Exsta Asx and I felt it was alot of tire for the $ and I am considering them. I have always driven on Michelins and am still very happy with them. I want to try another brand, Not dunlops or bridgestones. The Kumho's are priced right , I just wonder how quiet the tires are. I have Michelin pilot sports on my gs now and probably have another 5000 left on them ( 45000 mi. on them now ) Have you heard anything about sumitomos ? I will aproach my decision with an open mind. B)
  21. Agreed
  22. How much gas was in the tank ? Could have beed some condensation in the lines that restricted gas flow. Have you changed the spark plugs ?
  23. Extinct
  24. No, Find a reputable mechanic that works on toyota/lexus with reasonable labor costs and buy the parts you need online so all you pay for is labor without exagerated parts markup. If regular maintenance is kept up almost nothing will ever go wrong. Have the lex your looking at thouroughly checked out ( preferably by your mechanic ) and get all the previous records to verify the work that has been done. Good Luck
