  1. It will be interesting to hear responses to your question. I have a 2001 GS and have a brake noise or clunk, usually only after the emergency parking brake has been applied. I just purchased the car, so, I called Lexus and they thought it was the parking brake repositioning it self. But, said I should bring it in and have it checked, which I will. They also indicated that was a problem on some of the GS models, but did not specify which years. When I get it in, and have it checked, I will let you know what they say. <_<
  2. Well, Nakamichi is definately not out of business, nor was it bought out. Different systems/brands were offered in different model years. You need to check specifically. Pioneer is the standard in all years. In the GS400 for 1998-2000 Nak was the option. In the GS430 from 2001+ Mark Levinson was the cat's meow. Lexus Model Library ← WOW, thanks for the Lexus Model LIbrary link. I have been looking for a site just like that, a wealth of basic info of the Lexus line-up. Thanks!! :)
  3. Yes, that is a big question, Are extended warranties worth it? I have purchased them , but have only once, recovered more than I paid for the coverage. Now, looking back, I did have piece of mind for major repairs, but still question my judgement for purchasing them after the warrenties were up. I guess its like anyother insurance policy, we seldom recupe the monies we spend, but it is somethimes comforting to know we are covered. (provided its a reputable company.) I have found manufacture warranties are usually better than after market, less hassel when you have a claim.

  7. All depends on the type of coverage you are looking for. There are many different types.... most extended warranty companies have 3 or 4 different levels of coverage. Also, how many years and how many miles? Try to get the manufacture extended warranty or one sold from Lexus. Also, "0" dedutable is good. Most don't charge that much more for the "O" dedutable. For something reputable, you will pay over $1000.00. You get what you pay for, but do your homework and compare. First decide what you really need as far as years, miles, and level of coverage. Hope this helps.
  8. Thanks alot for the info, Now I will be shopping around for a Boral exhaust and SRT intake. SOUNDS, like just what I want. Not too loud, except when in the aggressive driving mode....
  9. I just purchased my first Lexus, a black on black, 2001 GS430 with 40,500 miles on it. It is Lexus certified, with 5 spoke chrome wheels and a Mark L. stereo. Whats not to like about this car? I am 59 years young, but am still thinking about insatalling a Borla exhaust and some type of better intake. Nothing to far out for me, as I will keep most of it stock. Its just fun to drive the way it is. It was a one owner and always serviced at the local Lexus dealership. Hopefully all the good things I hear about Lexus are true, as far as reliability and value. I am starting a file on my GS430. I found a few 2001 road test articles and some other bits of information. The one thing I would like to find is a 2001 GS430 sales brochuer. Mostly just want it for the information and details about the 2001 model. If anyone has one laying around, and would like to find a good home for it, this is the place that needs one. Thanks alot
  10. http://www.faqs.org/faqs/autos/gasoline-fa.../section-1.html http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question90.htm ← You know..., you are both right, to an extent. Just way to many variables. But to sum it up, just do what the manufacture recommends!! If its gas, oil change intervals, transmission fluid, coolant changes, etc. Why take the risk. You know the ol saying, "pay me now or pay me later" Usually later is more expensive.
  11. Have 2003 GS430, has Borla Exhaust, SRT intake and PC upgrade, the car hauls !Removed!. Must say it is fun giving the Mustang GT boys a bad time. ← MarkW, A question on the Borla exhaust and srt intake. Do you get any interior cabin resonation? Especially during crusing speeds. I want to install a little more rumble when I am in the aggressive driving mode, but don't want to put up with interior resonation when crusing down the freeway at 60 to 75 MPH. My Harley F-150 has a irritable resonation at 70MPH with the stock exhaust and its just really annoying, especially on a trip. I don't want that in my GS430. Thanks alot
  12. Thanks alot. I do appreciate the feed back. My wife and I are real sensive to those annoying resonation sounds from opening up the exhaust. Guess I will just wait and see what changing your intake does to the overall driving experience as well as the noise factor. I really want a throaty exhaust when under acceleration, without the resonation at crusing speeds. Thanks a bunch.
  13. HI, Good advise. Not all of us have unlimited funds, but like driving a top of the line car. So we just have to shop a little harder to meet our needs and exptations. Thats what I love about this form, questions and great answers from real live experiences.
  14. HI, Thanks for the info on the borla. Sounds about what I am looking for, quiet, until you get into your aggressive driving mode. One question, is there any resonation inside the cabin from the exhaust, you know the annoying sound that just drives your ears nuts. Thanks
  15. I like the 5 spoke chrome. What color is your car? Some times color will determine what looks better, spoke or mesh.
  16. Wow, thats a rip. I like the stereo, but have no need for the navigation system. So, how much $$$ are we talking about to add both Nav and Mark L system? They must be taking lessons from the American Automobile packaging system. To get that, you have to take this and this and this..............
  17. I still like the older body style of the 430, but, it always takes me a long time to warm up to new and different changes. As far as sticker, I haven't purchased one, but sticker is out of my range at this time. It will be interesting to hear form other club memers ane their opinions.
  18. HI, I just purchase a used GS430 from one of the local dealers in the Seattle area. I would be interested to know which dealership you are talking about that has the elite certification from Lexus. I am very fussy as far as service goes and I check to see if certain services have actually been done. For now, I can either go to Seattle Lexus or Bellevue Lexus. I will certanily ask for a Elite certified service advisor, as I already have been given a sales pitch when calling about what kind and weight of oil is used. I purchased the certified car 2 weeks ago, so I have some home work to do. My biggest complaint so far, is the cost of a simple oil/filter change. $60.00 I asked the person I talked to what extra was included for that price? He just said "Oil, filter, wash, and its a Lexus" Needless to say, that was not a good answer!!! Input would be appreciated. Thanks Oly
  19. I do not have any info on those two exhaust systems for you. I do have the Borla Exhaust on my GS 430. It has a very deep sound, which, over time with use, is sounding really good. It is much cheeper than the GReddy, easy to install, and very nice looking. If your not set on the GReddy, and open to other avenues, would definately check it out. ← HI, Concerning the Borla Exhaust, do you experience and resonation inside the cabin during acceleration or crusing down the freeway? I am considering the Borla on my GS430, but don't want the annoying interior irritaiton. I just want to hear those pipes when in the aggressive driving mode, if you know what I mean. Thanks Oly
