  1. :D Think I will go with what is popular... MonStarr
  2. skperformance & Neo, you guys are great.:D Thanks for the advice and the exlplanation. I will try to get to a shop to actually see this with my own eyes to become more proficient in this area. After looking at tire racks website and this post, I feel that I can go out and pick my rims with confidence. I think I will go with a staggered setup....I think it will look better. Is this tire size good for that? 245x35x20 & 275x30x20...This size seems to be pretty popular around here. Once again thank you for your help and hopefully within a week or so I will have my rims on and I will be able to post some pics to share with you guys MonStarr
  3. Alright, I know that this topic has been beat to death on LOC but I am still a bit confused. I have searched this topic on the forums, but I still feel uneducated. Hopefully you all can help me with your expetise. Oh yeah, I need a 4th grade explanation on this. :P 1. What exactly is an offset? And why it so important? 2. What will be the major difference with going 8.5 all around or the staggered setup, either 8.5 in the front with either 9.5 or 10 in the rear? 3. Why do a lot of people go with 2 different tire sizes in the front and the rear. i.e 245x35x20 & 275x30x20? 3. Is ther a perfect size wheel/tire for the GS w/o any rubbing at all? (stock suspension for now, possible 1" drop in the furure) 4. I know our bolt pattern is 5x114.3. Is this what they mean by a RWD bolt pattern? 5. What would happen if one put FWD rims on our cars? With all this in mind, can someone give me ultimate set up for a 2nd gen GS300. I want to go with 20" rims that DO NOT stick out pass the fender. I want minimal rubbing, if none with a possible 1" drop or more in the future. I really appreciate any comments and feed back on this topic and maybe this can clearly define this topic once and for all for the inexperienced such as myself MonStarr
  4. Actually, '05 is the year of the next body change..I think the coolest thing about it is that it will be an AWD vehicle. I own a 99 GS3 as if right now and I have already made up my mind to be in the '06 GS430...let the "bugs" get work out of the first year... Here is just 1 article on it... Click me MonStarr
  5. I love my GS....but if I had the money I could easily see my self sitting in the new LS430....fully loaded of course B) Besides that I honestly don't care for much of what is rolling around out there.
  6. To all who replied....Thanx for your input. I have thought long and hard about this and I have decided not to go with these rims. I think if I am going to spend around $2K, I will get the rims that I am 100% sure that I want. Again thanx... MonStarr
  7. Hey guys, I know that this question has been beat to death on LOC, and I have searched SEVERAL past post on this topic. ;) I might be purchasing a set of rims from a guy I work with and before I do, I need LOC's help and opinoins... Will this set up work on my 99 GS3? 20x8.5 +38 all around Tires: Nitto Performance ZR NT555 225 35/20 He wants $2K but I know I can get hin down to at LEAST $1700....Also I would you all's honest opinion on how they would look on the car. This is not the style that I wanted to go with but I think they would look hot on the car. Here is a pic of the rims I put the rims against the car car to try to get a better feel for what they would look like: Any help would be appreciated.... MonStarr
  8. Jimmy, you came to the wrong place if you want an unbiased decision B) I have had my 99 GSG for a little over a year now and my love for the car grows daily. Hi price to maintain but, I feel it is worth it. I was in complete love with the Maxima. Test drove several and even had my loan approve for an '03. All I had to do was go pick it up. Then i made a mistake and drove past a guy I work with dealership and saw my car sitting there. I said what the hell and took for a spin and have been driving it ever scince. After I drove the Lex, the Maxima just seemed so...well ordinary after that...
  9. Oh yeah...what exactly are coilovers and what is the major difference btweem them and springs? MonStarr
  10. HREwheelmaker, Neo has got me intrested....do you thin you could post a pic on here? I would love to see it myself!
  11. I am no means an expert on car mechanics, but I have been told that YES, the SRT is a DIY job. I believe you have to perform some soldering work on the ECU. I Besides that it is pretty much a remove and replace type deal. I had bought a Weapon-R intake and put it on in about 45mins. or so, when I realized that the company had sent me the wrong intake. The O2 sensor wouldn't fit. After doing a little reserch I am indeed going with the SRT/ECU combo. From what I have been told, an intake is pretty much worthless w/o a racing ECU. As for an exhaust, it is also a DIY with the proper rescources. I have been told that the existing bolts are extremly difficult to remove and unless you have access to a garage w/ a lift, I would suggest just taking it to an auto shop that deals with mufflers, exhaust ect. I should only take them an hour or so to do the work and should run you under $80 bucks. In fact, as I am typing this response, my GReddy EVO2 catback is getting put on right now for $55. I am going to order the SRT next month from lextsy.com next month. They seem to have the best price @ $525. Also, I got a reccomendation from the Nopi guys about headers yesterday. Scince I cant seem to find any online for my GS3, I am going to go with custom built ones from this place in Florida. After I deal w/ them an get a price I will post the results. Once again, I am no expert, but I am learning a lot as I go. Especially with just researching and asking questions on this forum. Good luck and I hope this helped. MonStarr
  12. Just curious to know all....What is the largest size T.V that can fit into a GS300's headreast.? Also, a recommendation for the visors would help too. Thanks for any input ! MonStarr ----->
  13. O.K. My baby is making a very wierd noise in my opinion. The only way I can describe it is as it sounds like there is loose change rattiling in my engine. :cries: The noise is intemittent, but is very annoying. I have had my 99 GS3 for well over a year now and I started hearing the noise a few days ago. If it helps, it seems to be coming from the driver's side. It just came back from the dealer a month ago having the 90,000 mi. paycheck snatcher :whistles: ( the has just over 85,000 mi. on it) and I take very good care of my care. It is scaring me to death. I was hoping to get some knowledge from you guys so I am armed when I go back to the dealership. Also I have noticed that when I shift gears, there is "clicking sound". I don't think this normal either. Could these sounds relate to one another? I need help from the experts here @ LOC So me some love fellas & ladies..... MonStarr
