  1. 1992 ls400, rare rear retractable window shade, nakamichi ,trac, silver on gray, and 245,xxx miles.
  2. im telling ya guys goodyear assurance comforttread. 80,000 mile warranty. great in weather-especially you east coast/mid west types. high rolling resistance however smooth ride AND some sort of uv fliters inside the rubber these tires always look new! DAMN CONSERVATIVES.
  3. Look at this for 20 sec. <_< I want my 20 seconds back... Yeah, It's korni i never ever in a million years thought id ask for "W" back................
  4. I agree with nc211, it sounds to me like perhaps you have rotor that needs to be turned or replaced. I know on my 92 the rotors are too small for the car and they eventually warp. In 93 they put bigger rotorss on but maybe it still an issue?
  5. for what its worth, the nakamichi system is probably super-low distortion both in IM and thd+n. Ive worked as a recording engineer for a long time and have pretty well trained ears, ive heard things on my lexus nak system, with cds i know very well, that ive never heard before, little elements and such. Stock it is a very well executed and balanced system especially for being an almost 20 year old design. Why its $800 for a speaker i have no idea. By the way my passenger side front door is dead, tweeter and mid. It would have be the pre-amp of that channel OR if these speakers are wired in series than if mid died then perhaps no power gets to tweeter?!? Food for thought............
  6. does anyone know if i can hook up sirius to existing 92 nak? i mean hardwired? inject into the tape signal path? after the heads? hmmm need to have the cd love the nak and look of stock system, need a.m. (for local sports) would like to keep fm, not sure why. any ideas from people who have these head units apart would sacrifice the tape players functionality for this. Conversely does anyone have a 92 nak head unit schematic?
  7. well ahnold probably likes canada just fine, but you know, gotta tow the party line.
  8. could be worse.....re; bmw's dreaded idrive.
  9. My point is, look at all his past posts, based on that and that only, Toyota does not have issues and should not need cleaning. They are perfect...LOL PS. I live 3,000+ miles from "that state" so you can say what you wish. Do not care. I like the gif..so there! :whistles: oh the gif is awesome. No problem with that. Ahnold is a little disappointing though, mind you my state of mind is "blue" to begin with.
  10. actually that guy is my beloved(thats cynicism) "GOVERNATOR"
  11. i used to work in la recording studios as a tech and engineer and that definitely sound like an amps protective circuitry shutting down, more than likely some part internally is probably overheating. What system is it; standard or nak?
  12. hey blake918, im about to clean my tb but not surprisgly i called the closest lexus dealer and the parts noob said i needed four small gaskets to re-seal it @ $5 bucks a pop. Which contradicts every auto-parts store my question is what did you use for a gasket? and how much did you pay. Auto-parts stores quoted me $3-$5 for ONE part. AAARRRGGGHHH. Thanks in advance----vito.
  13. hell o. Im having that the same problem with my drivers seat. well i got the backing off and i can see the rod and it is supposed to be plastic and mine is metal, so this has happened before, perhaps. I cant seem to make this rod move a whole lot,the space being really tight. FWIW the rod is at the bottom of seatback and if you move the lumbar all the way forward there will be a little more space to work with. If anyone has any other tips, they would sure be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  14. i got some sheepskin covers for christmas and couldnt my headrests off on my 92 does anyone know if it can be done?
  15. Thanks for the reply. When i joined the board i went through and read every single post on every single page, i dont remember seeing that but it wasnt an issue for me then so i probably didnt pay attention. Thank you i will try that now,as i often forget about the search feature.
  16. my drivers side seat recently kinda broke in which the backrest, when moved, only the left side goes back or forward the right side stays stationary, which really sucks 'cause im about 6'2" and have long legs and a little girth and i cant seem to get quite comfortable anymore which makes me depreciate my ls alot. Has anyone heard of this? Is it common or could i take the seat out and dyi this? Or should take it to guy or just replace the seat? Christmas just passed so the coiffers are pretty low. Thanks in advance.
  17. i think that 2 0r 3 years ago that this system servers crashed and all info up to that point was lost, from what i gather their was info on the trunk bundle that was lost when that happened. By that same token i cant use the inside trunk release on my trunk, however ive never had a master key so maybe the valet lock is just locked.
  18. throttle body cleaning? spark plugs? try pulling negative cable off battery for like, 20 minutes see if ecm resets?
  19. hello. I have a 92 ls in which i too had the dissappearing/white smoke on startup/going through a quart of atf a week issue/steering colomn groaning power steering fluid issue. I took it to my mechanic, a guy i really trust and he tried a coupla things and two weeks later the problems persisted. So i took it back to him and per the sound advice on this board had him replace the "AIR CONTROL/IDLE UP" valve located on the bottom of the fluid resovior and it solved the issue!!! its a $70 dollar part and will according to much of this board, solve the issue if the system is not too gone. My mechanic didnt believe me until he saw the result, the loc was right try that And then hunker down and clean that solenoid valve screen.(ample info on the loc for locating and removing that)
  20. another post about a slow ls got me thinking, has anyone ever or would never recommend using that "restore" stuff? does it work? would you put it in ls? can it hurt?
  21. someone on this board mentioned sparkplugs.com the other day $168 with no core, i believe.
  22. hello. I second that on parting out. Here in southern cali there is a plethora of used ls's on the used market for anywhere from $1500-$5000 in pretty good shape. Better yet find a good one, buy it and use good parts from your old one on the new one, when possisble. There are parts on your current ls such as a mass air flow sensor that cost $1500 or so brand new, that part alone could either save you a ton of money or make you a ton, better off to find one more or less "factory sealed" and go from there. Good luck.
  23. hello all thanks for the advice. NC211 ive been enjoying reading your posts for a long time. I have the goodyear assusrance comforttreads which are super soft and kinda cushy tires, which i believe somewhat mask how shot the suspension is. Great tire ,good match, i think for an ls 80,000 mile tire about 10k on mine. Ive been jocking them for a while check out reviews on tirerack.com there a few ls 's up there
  24. forhundo: I just completed a new install of KYB GR-2's all the way around. I've purchased new rotors & pads along with lower ball joints. The lower joints take the most beating of all. I'd suggest that you take it a step at a time and replace all 4 shocks(struts) before you go putting a bunch of money into other suspension components without first knowing that another component is indeed "bad". On the other hand, it's probably a safe bet that your lower joints could use replacing, what with 240K on them. Maybe it surprises no one else, but replacing the struts is more work than just changing an air filter. It's not complicated, just a lot of grunt work (buy a torch for the lower strut bolts). My '95 (recent purchase) has 150K on it and the struts were original. With the rear(s) off the car, you could compress them all the way and they would quite rapidly "expand" back to full length.....Now that's shot! Your's are probably worse, certainly not any better at 240K. My '95 had that "barge like" effect going down the freeway, but not uncontrollable. I was not totally surprised at how stiff the GR-2's are, but it is a BIG difference. The ride with the GR-2's may not be to everbody's liking, but I think they may soften up a little bit once I put some miles on them threadcutter, first of all thank you thats exactly waht i was looking for. Mines is not uncontrollable but like you said, i am a little afraid of the gr-2's based on people saying that they are stiff(er) as opposed to oem. Let us know if they do soften up over time. Thanks a-gain.
