  1. I had the same problem Locating the Fuel filter in my LS400 1990, It is located on the driver's side right in front of the rear wheels underneath the car. You will need to lay on your back and look up. It sits behind a protective piece of metal. You need to remove it to replace the filter. You can pick up a fuel filter for about 15 bucks at any autozone. Make sure if you do the job yourself, have the fuel tank 99.9% empty, and do not forget to remove the gas cap to relieve the pressure. I bought my LS about a month ago, when I did the Fuel Filter I noticed that it was the original one
  2. As long as you Flush the system , and leave no residue of other type of antifreezes you should always use (DEXCOOL) it will not corrode aluminum. Remember Lexus has An aluminum block and Heads. You must use DEXCOOL
  3. I have a Pioneer Radio/Cassete player. Got a chance to get a Single CD Nachamichi. would it fit in my 90 LS400? It comes from a 92 LS400 Part # is 8612050080

  6. OK folks, this is an update for the problem listed above... After a long research, I found out the oil leak was from the Engine rear main oil seal. I replaced the seal and the problem seems to be solved. :D
  7. ;) It is just a Thought, but you might have an overheating problem, make sure you keep an eye on the temp Gauge and see how high it gets. I also own a 1990 LS400, I recently flushed it's cooling system for the summer and replaced the thermostat. Some of this high tech cars tend to run bad and most of the times they shut off completelly when overheating. Again it is just a thought... ;)
  8. B) It appears to me that the car might have it's timing not propelly set. I'm thinking whoever changed the belt messed up the timing, and it is off , you might hear the car pinging when acelerating it. I would have another mechanic checking the engine timing.
  9. :( 1990 LS400 Leaking oil :( I recently found out that my LS400 is dripping oil by the front of the transmission, behind the support beam. There are two 12mm bolts, it is where is dripping. It is motor oil. Is there an oil seal where the transmission meets the engine? Or there is some sort of gasket inside that little plate where the two 12mm bolts are? Any clues or advise? thanks.
  10. <_< TRANSMISSION FLUSH ! <_< LS400 1990 - I already bought the filter and gasket for the transmission. Do I have to take it to a Transmission shop for the service? Or can it be done by myself? Does anybody know a good reliable shop In the midwest? <_< Also I was wondering where the Fuel Filter would be fot this car... <_<
  11. I Love The Techron , that's what I used to use all the time before I move do the old west..... They do not have Chevron around here... (Missouri) :( <_< I wonder what gasoline would be the best pick for a LS400 <_<
  12. How can I get a hold of the Genius?
  13. ;) Have a Mechanic check your support bearing for the drive shaft. Sometimes when they are going bad they tend to vibrate.
  14. Is it possible to buy the changer only and mount it in the trunk? Is there any wires to do that? if so, can I just go ahead and by a pioneer changer and hook it up? Thanks guys !
  15. ;) I ran in to the same problem with my LS400 90. I went to a Sears Hardware and bought the same size metric bolts with a little larger washer. At this tme I bought Stainless steel bolts, they are like 45 cents each. I have not yet installed the plate, because I have to take care of an oil leak. It might be power steering leaking here.... ;)
  16. I found out my Timing Belt was replaced at 90K miles . I guess it is good fo anothe 60K....
  17. Does anybody know a reliable and experienced shop in the midWest USA? I LIve in St. Louis MO, I was wondering if there is a good reliable shop with experience for Lexus around town... You know the dealer charges an arm and a leg. I can not afford their rates, that's why I bought a 13 year old one.
  18. My LS400 1990 does not have a CD, the dash looks nice the way it is, but... :( no CD player. How do I add a CD player without compromissing the nice looks of the original dash?
  19. :whistles: What type of oil should I use for the rear axle in my LS400 1990? Does it have to be replaced? If only tap the oil is required, what type should I use? thanks folks

  22. ;) I was wondering the location fro the fuel filter in my 1990 LS400. I about to tune it up, what else should I replace? Any place in particular to get the parts cheaper than the dealer? Thanks
  23. I apologize if I'am posting it twice, I could not find the first posting... so here we go... I bought a LS400 1990 with 128.000 miles in it. What kind of work should I do to it? It seems that nothing has been done to it as of yet. Can I hose off a cold engine with some degreaser? Ist here a site that I can buy tune up parts more affordably than the dealer? I does not have CD player. what is the best way to add one? It seems that the power steering hose is leaking, Is it hard to get and replace those? Any advise? Hints and tips will be greatly appreciated. thanks
