  1. The Subwoofer in my LS 400 is ripped. I was wondering if anybody would know the size of it, and most important of all, How to remove it. I tried the other day but did not know how to get access to it. Thank you. welgaby@msn.com
  2. NGK is as good as the original DENSO, as a matter of fact all Japanese cars either have NGKs or DENSOs as the OEM Plugs. The requirement a must, is that it has to be platinum plugs. Iridium is a different model of DENSO plugs, quite expensive, but NGK and Platinum DENSO is recomended
  3. Going thru your post, I thought it would be possible for that solenoid to be bad. Also you might want to flush the Power Steering system and replace the fluid. It's not hard to do. I have done it , and I replaced the fuid using brand new type IV ATF. ( Be careful not to soak the alternator down below, ask a friend to help you flush the system) I can give you detailed instructions how to do it. Let me know. welgaby@msn.com
  4. Im looking for a subwoofer replacement for my 1990 LS400, mine is Pioneer and it is ripped. Does anybody have one for sale? thanks. welgaby@msn.com
  5. I am looking for a wire set for my 90 LS400. I wanted NGKs but I found out they do not Make NGKs for Lexus LS400. I would love to have denso though, but I guess Bosch will be fine. Does anybody know where I can get a set for reasonable price? Thanks welgaby@msn.com
  6. Looking for two front Chrome 15" wheels for my LS400. anybody got 'em? thanks welgaby@msn.com
  7. :D FIXED IT !! REPLACED THE VALVE. LOOKS AWESOME, DOES NOT LEAK AND THE CAR DOES NOT SMOKE ANYMORE ! :D It was quite a work to do, I had to remove the high pressure side of the power steering to get to the valve itself. It is all done from the bottom of the car. It takes a 17mm open end wrench. I went ahead and flushed the power steering system, and replaced the ATF welgaby@msn.com
  8. Bellow that, actually the valve is below the reservoir
  9. Power steering does not need to be bled because it has a return hose, even if you did not bleed it, it would prime itself as you drive, because the air bubles would return to the reservoir. Brakes ont he other hand can not have air bubles because they do not have return lines , also air can be compressed , thus giving you a mushy feeling on the brake pedal. I would say that you might have spilled oil on the pulley and it might be sliping , or you do no have enought fluid. You can flush it, like I did on lmy LS400 90. I disconnected the hose on the side of the reservoir and plug it with a cap I bought at autoparts store. Then I disconneted the return hose and connected an extention hose I bought , any hose will do, then with the engine running have someone turn the steering wheel full lock back and fourth as you pour ATF in to the reservoir, make sure the extention you bought is redirected to a Milk Jug or so. Pour slowly about 2 qts of any cheap ATF, Walmart brand will do, let it run out for a seconds until it stops coming out. You are done. Refill with a good ATF (I Used Toyota ATF Type IV) and drive, check it every once in a while after a few truns.
  10. Weird, It just started working again, by itself all the sudden... ??? I wonder if the motor is going bad... B)
  11. DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW: My driver's side window stopped working. Luckily it is up. Any clue what could have gone wrong? Only the driver's side stopped working. Would it be the switch? Or is there a fuse just for that particular one? Thanks.
  12. Did you replace you brakes yet? let me know welgaby@msn.com
  13. :D I leave my Overdrive on at all times, that means the engine runs in lower RPMs thus saving fuel. If I need a faster Take off, I then turn it off and turn on the ECT Power mode, works every time...1990 LS400 :D
  14. TOYOTA TYPE IV ATF Is what I'm running in my transmission. You can oly get it at Toyota dealer. It should run around $4.58 per quart or so It is supposed to be one of the best. Remember Lexus recomends Type II or equivalent for the LS400 90/92, I guess ATF type IV would be better than type II.
  15. :P I guess you can check eBay also :P
  16. The reservor has a little valve attached to it, with two little hoses that goes from the valve to the Intake hose and the other one goes to the front of thee intake manifold
  17. There is a little vacuum valve attached to the power steering reservoir. What does it do? My one went bad and the engine was burning Power Steering fluid. I removed the two vacuum hoses and plugged the little niples. The engine does not smoke anymore and the Power Steering fluid does not go down. But I wonder what is the function of the valve...

  19. When you replace your wheels , I would be interested in getting at least two of the 15" crome ones you take from your car.... I have two that are in bad shape. Can not afford a complete upgrade from15 to 16 or 17"...Let me know. Thanks
  20. The ticking noise is eliminated by a valve adjustment job, wich is not going to cause any harm if it is not done. It most likely comes from cylinder number 5 and 7. I have the same noise in my LS400 1990 with 130.000 Miles. The oil information, viscosity all depends on the climate, let's say for example if you live in Phoenix AZ, you don't want to run the 5W30,thru the summer, but it would be a good pick if you lived in Barrow, AK. Rmember, Lexus makes the engine not the oil. Always check the oil specs by the manufacturer. I am running 10W30 here in the midwest year around.
  21. I am about to start using MOBIL 1 FULL SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL in my LS400 1990 with 130.000 Miles. Could it pose any problems? Should I keep using conventional oil instead ?
  22. Are you guys talking about the emblem that says (LS 400 ) ? my 90 has only Lexus on the left hand side trunk lid.
  23. I Just bought the CD repair's manual from ebay for 20 bucks, pretty detailed and helpful
