  1. I kid you not, the dam thing Barfed. This was not gas pouring out as I was pumping. The pump popped off (turned off) I had been filling it with the pump handle fully squeezed. no gas had spilled... Yet. When I removed the nozzle from the filler pipe/neck, gas came flowing out of the filler pipe (the pipe you put the nozzle into). It was really flowing out. Then it would stop. Make a gurgling sound, and more gas would flow up and out of the filler pipe, then do it again. When on for at least 1/2 minute or more. Don't know how much gas came out. But puddle was almost the size of the back of the car. Gas only came out of the filler neck only. Before pumping gas I had removed the gas cap, and it had been off for at least 10 seconds. Never heard of this. Also when started the car, the full gauge moved up slowly as it always does, but then went over the fill line. It has never gone that high in the 10 years I have had this car! Your thoughts?
  2. i went there and found this one.. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701761/Rec...ss.html?tp=2977 but do you know if itll work with a double DIN unit or does it not matter? Call and ask them.
  3. I have never been abile yo findanyone selling just the selonod by itself so I understand. Have you tried doing a used parts requist over the internet to check with houndreds of used parts dealers at on time? If not just google lexus used parts and a link or two will come up. Ask for a used rack, or call the dealer back and get the name of the part the selonod comes on and ask for that.
  4. I know where my money is going... Make that went.... To fix a PS leak and replace the Alternator becouse of it. Do not wash the engine! If you feel you must read up on it first. Geting the top of your engine just a little wet can get expensive. These are great cars but they have some pain in the &^&* issues. One is getting the engine wet. The ofer is the P/S system an alternator location. The other is the LCD on the AC display. I have had almost all the pain in the butt what is it know? issues with my 91 Ls. Thank god for this forum. If your coils and plug wries are orginail I would think of replacing them. I did mine when I changed the timing belt at about 150,000 miles. I felt the diferance. They were all originail, from when the car was new.
  5. In the vedo, was that you reving the eng or the car just doing it on it's own? I have a reason for asking.
  6. I posted to do this becouse I have done it. Have no idea if anyone ells has ever done it. Before I did it, I talked with Berryman about it. As this product vaporizes at a low temprater, one the power streeing fliud comes up to temprature, the B12 will start to viporize out of the fluid. So it will not stay on the system very long. There is nothing in it that will hurt the rubber parts like hoses etc. It will simply act like a solvant to help loosen any stuff on the screen. Helping to get the "dirt" of the screen and back into the fluid of the resivor. Where you can then suck out the fluid, and hopfylly some of the drit. No this is not as good as pulling the pump and cleaning the screen. But for those of us that don't have the ability to pull the pump, it is an alternative. Any auto parts will have B-12 Best price is at Wal-Mart, last time I bought it, it was under $3.00 a can. The can of stuff, not the spray.
  7. Do a posting asking for a michanic in your area. I would also try a PM to Monarch. In the cleaning of the screen in the pump, i would not put a whole it. Even though i understand the feeling of putting a hole on the dam car! Just a thought, take a pencil with a ruber eraser on it. Put it down in the recevor, rubber side down. Feel for when it is touching the screen. Rub the rubber tip around and agent the screen. This may loosen any dirt on it. then see if it helps the steering. Also as i side put a small amount of B12 Chem tool in it. drive around. It will lossen any dirt on the screen. It should not hurt anything, and it will vaporize out of the system in a day or so.
  8. You asked my to respond so I will. If your solenoid is bad, replace it. It could be the issue, or part of it. When mine as clogged, but working, it was like someone was flipping a on off switch to my power steering. Get and easy one moment, totally gone the next. At all speeds, but mostly when corning. I cleaned the solenoid screen, then cleaned the screen in the pump, then put a inside the hose filter in the return hose. All screens have stayed clean. After I cleaned them, I flushed the system, with lots of fluid. I see you have done a lot, but have not cleaned the screen in the pump. Please do it. I cleaned mine on the car. I put some B-12 chem tool into the reservoir, drove the car a little, then I used a turkey baster (use a metal one) with a short hose on it, to suck the fluid out of the reservoir. I then filled the reservoir with B-12, and let it sit over night. I then rigged a shop vac to a small hose, and sucked the fluid out, and let the hose rib on the screen. I did this several times, vacuuming the screen. I then flushed the system, added the filter, and all was fine after that. I may have posted about doing this. If you can take the reservoir off the clean the screen that is the best way to do it. Also on using a shop vac. This can dangerous, as an older one cal ignite the vapors. Myth Busters did a show on that. If you do not have a local Lexus mechanic you know and trust, not the dealer, post on this board asking for a recommendation for your area. And have it checked out by a mechanic. I understand wanting to kill the F-N car..... I just had a PS leak at the Idle up valve kill my alternator! I hope this helps. One last thing, based on what I have seen on this board. Monarch is a go to guy. Try asking him.
  9. Anyone now anything about the Airbag issue? I know how to reset the light, but what made it come on?
  10. No one sells these by themselfs. They do not even have a part number that I know of. In the past I have tried to get junk yards to sell me one by doing a parts requist over the internet. However, I have never gotten a responce. The only way I can think of getting one is from a parts yard that lets you pull your own part and hope they don't care that you are taking it off the rack. Why? Becouse no one in the know will buy the rack without it attached.
  11. I thank you for the onformatiom, however as I stated, I had this information allready. LexLS has this info on his great web site. What I'm trying to find out is WHY it came on ? And if there is an issue with the system will it retriger the light after I reset it? Anyone know?
  12. Your power steering system has two screens in the system. one in the resivor tank and one on the selonod valve on the rack by the drivers side. Years ago i did a very extensive post on how to take care of those screens. Do a search if you can for posts by me. You should then see it.
  13. I did do some searching but did not find what I’m looking for. Why is my Air Bag Light On! I have a 91 LS 400. It was blowing white/blue smoke. So I knew the Idle up valve on the power steering went bad. I pulled the vacuum lines where they attached to the intake and plugged everything. Great. No more smoke, but now I was loosing even more PS fluid?? So I pulled the vacuum hoses from the valve and made short hoses with plugged ends. Still had a leak. Gave up gave it to may mechanic. He tells me that my short lines were leaking. So he made new plugged lined and put them on. Great until he turned the steering wheel. The pressure ripped the hose open! I have never head of that much pressure come out of a failed valve. Yes he used a good line. He used some high pressure fuel injection line. We could not find any hydraulic line that small. So next he pulled the broken valve out and just plugged it with a bolt. Car test drives fine. I go to pick it up. Take a test drive every thing is fine. Park the car. Just before I turn it off the radio starts to turn on and off by itself??? I’m getting no dash warning lights. Car goes dead. Well not restart. We test battery. Dead. We jump start, test alternator. Dead! Power steering fluid killed it! I had hoped I had fixed it in time. Today I pick up car with new rebuilt alternator in it. Now my air bag light is on??? Why???? I did see how to do the “wire dance on lesLS to turn it off. I will do that. But why did it come on. And if there is an issue with the air bag system if I reset the light will it come on again?????? And again when the car died, I never got a battery warning light??? All my warning lights come on when I test them on start up. A0SyD
  14. OK. I have called around to some dealers and some indy repair shops. Can't find a one that has ever actualy done this repair. All say the same thing. Has to be a matter of replacing the switch or ajusting the e-brake cable. All say most likly one hour of time. No more then two, and if needed the cost of a new sitch. All would start with trying to ajust the cable first as that is the easiest of the two. No one could tell me if the swith is open when the brack is on or off, or just were under the dash it is.
  15. OK, I turned the eng on so the dash light would be on. With the EBrake depresed light on nice and bright. With it relised just dimly glowing. Pulling on the release lever and pulling up on the e-brake pedale. light just glows very dimly. hiting the pedal shacking it, etc... no diferance. Bending myself into and shoving my head under the dash with a flash light. Things are to tightly packed in there cant see where switch would be. Tryed to feel around with my hand but not enough room to get my hand in, and I have very small hands. I think I will call a dealer on Monday and eplain issue and see what thay say. I'll then call indy guy in Los Angeles that I have used when traveling though. I'll let you know what I'm told. But I would love to get my hands on a good diagram of that area.
  16. I don't need to tighten the cable the ebrake works fine. Holds fine and ajusts fine. It is the switch that needs to be ajusted. And yes it is ajustable. I just do not know how to get to it. If anything the cable my be loose, but that would not keep the light dimly glowing
  17. HELP... Any one Have the info>>>>>>>??????
  18. So now I know to make sure I replace them with brass as if "I' go with steel ones I may be setting myself with a real mess next time. Thanks you. Once again the voice of knowladge from SK.
  19. Sorry I was not clear on that. The head is torn up so you can not use a screw driver to get them out. That is what I ment by striped.
  20. Yep I have een that. I know the switch works. Just needs to be ajusted. But I can't find any info on how to get to it to ajust it, and I'm the kind of guy that if I just go at it, most times I find out I really shoud not have done what I just did becouse I just broke something costly....
  21. I thank you all for the info. WOW great link on the parts diagram. I'll save that. I wouls be happy to pick up the scews at the hardware store if anyone knows the specs?????
  22. Yes I did . And it gives no information on how to ajust the swith, etc. I did a complet search of the forum before posting and found others with the same issue, but nothing on how to ajust the swith. Just stuff on the wiring in the trunk and checking all the brake lights and the alternater... All checked out OK. I know it is swith related... Just don't know how to get to it, etc....
  23. I changed the front and rear brake pads on my 91 LS400 today. I could not pull the rotors off to turn them because the very nice mechanic I paid to do the brakes the last time totally striped the heads of the Phillips head screws. I know I can get them out with an EZ out. But were can I get new ones. I would need 8. As there are two per wheel. Yep striped them all!!!!! Anyone know the specs on them???? Thank you in advance for you helps.
  24. I need to ajust the &^%^ brake swich on the emegancy brake. It does not turn off all the way most of the time. Stays dimmly light. I have tested the battery and alt, with a tester and charger. All is OK. Alt is putting out 100%. Volts with engine on is over 13 volts. Some timesif I iick the e-brake light goes off. Anyone have a PDF file on how to get to the swith to ajust it? Thank you. And brakes are OK.. Just put new pads on.
