  1. NO THAT WILL WORK FINE WITH YOUR STOCK SUSPENSION AND SPRINGS. THE REARS WILL SCRAP FIRST. I AM RUNNING THE SAME ON MY CAR AND I HAVE LOWERED IT ONE INCH.
  2. I HAVE THE BLUE TOMIKO SHOCKS AND EIBACK SPRINGS I PROBABLY DIDN'T SPELL THOSE NAMES RIGHT BUT ANYWAY I HAVE 500HP AND CAN'T KEEP THE WHEELS FROM SPINNING AND WHEEL HOP. I HAVE A SUPRA LSD AND THAT HELPS DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS BESIDES ADDING SANDBAGS IN THE TRUCK.
  3. SH GO WITH TEIN ADJUSTABLE IF YOU INTENT TO INCREASE HORSE POWER AND INSTALL A DRAGON TORQUE CONVETER
  4. YOU BETTER RUN CARFAX TO SEE IF THOSE MILES ARE RIGHT. THAT OLW MILEAGE IS VERY UNUSUAL FOR THAT YEAR LEXUS. FORGET ABOUT WASTING MONEY ON THE INTAKE YOU WILL GET NO NOTICEABLE POWER GAIN AND YOUR THROTTLE BODY WILL GET DIRTY ALOT FASTER THAN NORMAL.
  5. FORGET ABOUT THE INTAKE THE STOCK FLOW GOOD ENOUGH AND GO WITH 2 1/2 EXHAUST PIPES TO MAYBE A BORLA MUFFLER. THIS WILL GIVE YOU A LITTLE A GOOD POWER INCREASE. THE BEST MOD I CAN RECOMMEND FOR ANY SC400 IS THE DRAGON TORQUE CONVERTER. THAT BABY WILL OPEN YOUR EYES AND MAKE THE REAR WHEEL SPIN OFF THE LINE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED ALL MODS AS MY 1992 SC400 IS PUTTING OUT CLOSE TO 500HP.
  6. I INSTALLED A MAGNAFLOW CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN MY MODIFIED 1992 SC400, MY QUESTION IS WHY DID THE CAR LOSE LOW END AND GET TOP END, AND ALSO THE MOTOR CHOKED OFF THE LINE. I HAVE 2 1/2 EXAUST PIPING FROM THE CAT TO THE MUFFLERS AND AM RUNNING BORLA'S. I REMOVED THE CAT AND RE-INSTALLED MY OLD CLOGGED CAT AND GOT MY LOWEND BACK. I WAS CONSIDERING INSTALLING HEADERS BUT I WONDER WHAT THE EFFECTS THAT WILL HAVE? CAN ANYONE ENLIGHTEN ME DOES THESE 4.0L MOTORS NEED A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF BACK PRESSURE TO RUN SMOOTHE?
  7. I have got my 1992 sc400 running close to 500HP this is what I have done and does anyone out their know what else I can do besides supercharging and turbocharging ? Intake rod millen 2 1/2 exhaust high flow mufflers (headers don't fit on CA. emission car) Dragon torque converter ECU upgrade Nos (150hp) turbanator incerts high volume fuel pump larger injectors 18" rims lowered 1" springs and shocks Tein Supra LSD I would love to keep up with some of the faster cars without hitting the nos every time, without the nos I can beat camaro's and mustangs and that is about it, with nos I hang with AMG's, M6, Corvette's. SOMEBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHERE I CAN MODIFY FURTHER MY 4.0L SC ENGINE.

You really want to be impressed pick up a set of good condition 1993-1995 supra turbo front 4 piston calipers and slap those on your lexus night and day comparision to the stock 2 pistion front calipers. I just put them on my sc400 putting out 500hp and boy did I need them for braking at high speeds. I also put the new pads and cross drilled rotors on this car and now stops on a dime. Picked up these new calipers on ebay for $350 painted red with a lexus decal. I am very impressed and they are selling more.
  9. MY STEERING WHEEL AT THE TOPE IS DISCOLORING, WHAT TO CHANGE LOOK, LOVE THE STEERING WHEEL 430 LOOK. ANYBODY OFFER ANY SUGGESTION?
  10. THE FIRST HOLLOW SECTION OF EXHAUST EXPOSER COULD HAVE TICKING NOISE AT THAT WOULD COME FROM THE EXHAUST VALVES RIGHT THROUGH THE HEADERS DOWN TO THE HOLLOW CATS. FIRST OF ALL I AM CURRENTLY UPGRADING MY 1992 SC400 ENGINE AND EXHAUST, DID MAJOR RESEARCH AND WHEN DEALING WITH THE CATS YOU SHOULD LEAVE THOSE ALONE AS HIGH PERFORMANCE CATS MAKE YOU LOSE LOW END POWER WHILE YOU GAIN TOP END, THESE CARS ARE ALREADY SLOW OFF THE LINE DON'T MAKE IT ANY SLOWER. GO ON EBAY AND GET SOME CHEAP UNIVERSAL HIGH FLOW MUFFLERS WITH NICE CROM TIPS, SHOULD RUN YOU $50 FOR A PAIR, THAT WILL GIVE YOU MOST COST EFFECTIVE EXHAUST MOD YOUR LOOKING FOR, CATS SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED THE SC400 REQUIRES BACK PRESSURE FROM THE CATS.
  11. ANYBODY KNOW THE REASON I AM CONSTANTLY DEFOGGING MY FRONT WINDSHIELD, DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS LEXUS RECALL PROBLEM? NOTICED THIS HAPPENING ON ALL THE 1992 400SC'S I'VE OWNED AND SOLD.

  18. Your transmition mounts need to be replaced, this is the most common in older v8 lexus's, this problem causes vibration at shifts, or just at certain speeds.
  19. NOS you say, that's great and all but it is only juice once in a while I need constant juice, off the juice. Somebody said changing to the LEXUSPROS ECU UPGRADE will give me 30 hp right their, but I may have to supercharge this baby, I wonder how many additional hp the SC400 will take on the stock tranny, and drive train. Any input on that crap?
  20. 15 hp that's it, *BLEEP* these cars are already fine tuned I guess. I may supercharge this baby, but will the tranny and driveshaft hold up to the juice? How reliable are these superchargers, do they breakdown and do they affect smog emission, talk to me I need more info on my snale.
  21. CAL - thanks for the insite, I've already ordered the intake system, exhaust is next. One question what is and ECU upgrade, and adding all this crap will my smok checks be affected because I live in Cali. Thanks again your the man!

I've been researching vigorously about hp upgrades on lexus 400 and 430, the best way they sat is to make the engine breathe better, change out intake air flow $200, and of course the stock exhaust system, that one may run you $1000. This if done properly should give you close to 40 more horse power than stock. Exhaust includes down pipes, high flow muffeler and cat conv. Headers if you really want to go all out. Then next would be a $850 high perf. torque converter for better off the line starts, which will give you 0.7 seconds on 0-60 times, and then the rest is smaller hp upgrades, smaller pullies, performance chip( say goodbye to smog checks), etc.... still researching already got the air intake system on order for my SC400 thats where I start.

So you say 20" rims make your lexus faster I have never heard such crap, I can see smaller rims and tires would in crease wheel rotation which may give you a slight more power 0-30 but would decrease you top speed. I don't see how larger rims and tires would make a lexus faster 0-60 maybe top speed but larger will be slower off the line. That's the law of physics baby!
  25. lighter than oem wheels can help you gain hp and tq. less rotational mass = less drivetrain power loss, y0! :P ← MR. CURIOUS I WANT WHAT YOUR SMOKING BECAUSE WHEELS WILL NOT MAKE YOUR CAR FAST, IT MAY HANDLE A LITTLE BETTER BUT THATS IT, I'M INTAKE AND EXHAUST UPGRADES, PERHAPS A PERFORMANCE CHIP, TORQUE CONVERTER, AND FAT BANK ACCOUNT. I JUST WANT TO KNOW IS IT WORTH THE MONEY AND HOW MUCH HP DO YOU REALLY GET OFF THESE UPGRADES. STOCK SC400 ARE DOGS OFF THE LINE, BUT A GOOD KICK IN GEAR WITH POWER ETC ON AT ABOUT 30MPH WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS. NEED MORE POWER SCOTTY TO THE WARP ENGINE OR I NEED TO SELL. PLEASE OFFER INTELEGENT ADVISE AND DON'T WASTE MY TIME.
