  1. Bro, I would return it and get the same year engine for your car...The 97 will not hookup with your stock ECU...Needless to say your electrical will be a nightmare to mate up... Bolt patterns may differ, tranny shift codes and cooling may differ...So much to consider... I would cut your loses and start over with the same year motor for the same year car..You will thank me later...Trust me on this one... Swapping a 97 engine in the 94 car will be work...

Thanks Smoothe for the consideration but you are more of a turbo guy then I....I very familiar with nitrous and superchargering but have a good knowledge about turbo charging these SC400, LS00's as well... Why twins?...More money, more turbo piping, more can go wrong.... A single turbo would be a more sensible choice on these 400's... My good buddy just single turbo charged his SC400...It delivers 300whp on the stock fuel injectors and stock ECU... Get on Ebay and get a used turbo, install electric fans to frre up room (flex-a-lites) fab the turbo piping, install an intercooler, etc... If you know what you are doing you can get it done for around $1000-$1500.... Alot of custom fab work.. If you really want to learn about turbo charging your sc, check out lextreme.com and or Clublexus and search... Just so know, there are no ready made turbo kits available for the SC4's...There are supercharger kits for around $5000...Eaton chargers are favorite and can give you 100 more hp or so....

  6. There is a fuel pump and a seperate ECU computer for both... The fuel pumps may be the same not sure, but the ECU's are definetely not the same...Infact when changing the ECU's you want to get the exact year for that....They change them up every year in these Lexus's...
  7. Good luck, I also have an 97 ES300 and it runs like new with 137,000 miles... The single motor mount on top of the engine failed last week but outside of that it is a good car for the most part..... I am good at replacing the rear wheel drive bigger V8's in the 400 lexus's.... The ES300 is a front wheel drive V6... So the engine sits above the transmission..I would venture to guess the hardest part is removing the engine from the tranny... My advise is take it slow and remember everything and every bolt you remove.... Good luck...
  8. It's not common that both coils would go bad at the same time... So check to see if getting any spark to both sides of the motor. If both coils are not getting juice, it's electrical....

    Don't fight it people, embrace it.....Road rage... If you get cut off by some idiot in a hurry then proceed to ram them hard with your car when given the next opportunity..That person should never cut off anyone ever again.....If someone gives you a dirty look then proceed to drag that bad fella out of their car at the next stop and practice all your best bone breaking MMA moves on him. Then take a quick poloriod photo of the look on his face after that..Always remember to leave the picture with the unconscious and beaten down man so he can later reflect on his actions.... Lesson learned.......If some gives you the finger for no real reason feel free to bump them off the road and then proceed to cut that middle finger off with your set of bolt cutters...I gaurantee he will never give anyone the birdy ever again... If someone is driving to slow in front of you then kindly introduce them to the law enforcement pit manuever and then keep driving, that should teach the slow poke a lesson... Lastly if someone honks at you bust out the RPG launcher and fire away.... That should take out the horn for sure :pirate: Just kidding of course.....

    Road Rage

    Those are isolated incidents and don't happen very often... Road rage to me is alot of honking and cussing and maybe even a fist fight or two... Possession of guns and bats are typically thugs behind the wheel just itching to go to jail and out looking for trouble as witnessed in the first Utube clip......

  14. Try using liquid wrench or WD40...Spray the bolts generously and let is sit for a minute and torque it down... Those suspension bolts haven't been turned since the car was built, exposed to the outside elements they tend to freeze up and get stuck... Use a breaker bar with and extension and torque, it will give...

First step is too see if you actually are getting a spark to the plugs...IF your getting full spark then your electrical is probably ok..Fuel and air sensor reads could be bad..ECU maybe but dought it... Does it crank and almost want to start or just nothing? Need more info to diagnos the problem...Try cleaning the Throttle body, change the air filter, check your MAF sensor, TPS sensor.. If no spark is being delivered to the spark plugs then you need to check out the electrical again, alternator, battery cables, etc..
  17. Remove the plastic covers on the underbody, remove the starter motor and cylinoid by removing the holding bolts and disconnecting the power wire to the cylinoid....Not a big deal, and you could have saved money by buying the part at Pep Boys rather then the Lexus dealer... Just my two cents..
  18. Ignition coils...If your car is running on half power that is usually a sign of only four cylinders operating because of a faulty ignition coil... That can destroy your cats in a hurry...If they are running red that is another sign unspent gas is passing thru your exhaust system... Coils going bad is not uncommon on these older 92 SC400...I've seen it happen a few times out of the blue.... A badly gapped spark plug could misfire one cylinder but would not make the car feel like you lost half the power....
  19. The rear camber typically wears out on the rear suspension...Try a wheel allignment to see if the rears can be alligned properly... If not you will need to change out the bushings and what not...
  20. What's wrong with the Nakamichi stock stereo system? If you need more juice just throw in a kicker amp off ebay in the trunk for $100...Upgrade the subwoofer and your good to go...That's what I did on my SC4 and it now rocks and actually vibrates the back windshield on demand, it puts the stock Nak system to shame which is not an easy task to do........

  23. That's a story.. I've seen a twin turbo viper rip it up... Crazy fast... Yeah, the GN is a nice street rod... You can take any car to the limits with huge engine swap and big boost... Run nitrous to get it moving until the boost kicks in... I was just saying for your basic street rods the GN always gets respect... Kinda like the Supra TT's... I would still take a clean one today just to say I owned one...
