  1. You can wire either kit with a relay, but MTEC doesn't include one. It does have the schematic for a relay installation though. If you go on Ebay and go to "make offer" on the MTEC you can get it for less than the buy it now. I think I offered $200 and they accepted that price.
  2. I was very interested in the genuine made in Japan MTEC HID kit and was going to buy it from onspire.com which is the same guy on Ebay but I read that the kit will blind oncoming vehicles. Man,I'm so confused over this.I did some research and didn't find anything really positive.Especially on this site which is a respected site by many. http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bu...onversions.html I want to do the MTEC conversion but an nervous about the projectors not working well with the kit.You have the kit and have no problems... Daniel Stern has his own axe to grind you know, since he sells lights too. The lights that have problems are when someone puts D2s bulbs in reflector housings. Those bulbs were meant for projectors and when put in reflector housings they scatter light. Our cars have projectors that really don't care what kind of bulb is in it as long as the filament or gas capsule is centered. The MTEC kits work fine. I know of at least 3 other installations and none have problems. The main thing to watch is that you make sure you seal around the wires with silicone so no moisture gets into the headlights. I've got marks on my garage wall to Lexus headlight aiming specs. I had set my halogen lights by the specs. After installing the MTEC H11 HID kit, I have exactly the same alignment and beam pattern as before, but I now have a much whiter light.
  3. The MTEC HID kits work just fine. The HID bulb lines up with the stock projectors and makes a cut off beam just like stock but with much more light output. If you get the newer model MTEC, it comes with a compact ignitor/ballast that's easier to install. I got mine from Onspire, who sells the genuine Japanese made MTEC's. http://www.onspire.com/

  5. Don't think so.
  6. I don't think that's right. It's 65% aspect ratio. 215 is the cross section width and basically the tread width as well. A little less width is gonna bite snow better than a super low profile anyway. i don't want to step on smooth's toes here, but do u think the 215/65/17 size would work bartkat?? I really need tires now because it just started snowing here today. I'd go with it. Just be aware that the dry weather handling won't be as good, but those tire should work fine. Your speedometer will read a little low so be aware of that too.

  8. My trade-in is about $16K with $4K still left over. I doubt they will give me full value, but i will at a minimum go 50-50. If that is the case, then it would be around $8k. I didn't see what you're trading but if it's in excellent condition you should try to get blue book top wholesale for it. If it's another brand maybe $1000 or so less.
  9. Some places are now using nitrogen as standard. The real value is that no moisture gets into the tires when you use nitrogen. That's a real plus.
  10. I think the stock radio is just fine for most people. It suits me fine. The key to your pricing is how much are they giving you for your trade in. The difference that you pay is the main point, not just the price of the new car.
  11. Go to this link and you can download all the maintenance manual PDF file for $10. http://techinfo.lexus.com/
  12. Cupping can be from bouncing due to bad struts or shocks.
  13. That's not abnormal for the front pads. Like the guy says, get the front brake TSB done for free and the new pads will make less dust and probably last longer.
  14. You can download all of the files here for $10 http://techinfo.lexus.com/
  15. Thanks. I think they did that so we could knock heads in all the forums. :D
  16. Welcome to the site. Smooth will come though for you.
  17. IS300 had shift buttons on the steering wheel.
  18. You can also shift by pushing the gear selector lever forward and back, and sorta pretend you are driving a stick shift. :D If you want to watch it shift, leave the display selector in "present gear" mode.

  20. The USA cars have the same amber strip. It's a side marker reflector and light. There are no separate side markers or parking lights. All is built into the headlight assembly.
  21. Most IS350's are under warranty since none are over two years old now.
  22. The point here is that the poster was informed that the dealer might try to blame the problem on burned CD's, and as it turned out he did try that. This happens often, but in this case the driver knew this might happen and was forewarned. Rightly or wrongly dealers will do this and it's helpful for the driver to know about it before taking the car in for this type of problem. End of story.
  23. Get the car she wants. IS are compact cars. Nobody looks at the emblem. Nobody around her pays attention to mine except the ricers looking enviously. When I took it in to Bill's Quick Oil change the first time, the dude says, "when will this one be paid for"? (I had a 02 IS300 before). I told him I paid cash for it cause I'm retired and can't afford to make payments.
  24. Take some time and read the topics of interest to you. If you don't find what you need to know, then ask specific quesions.
