  1. So you don't want info if it's NIH?
  2. Check out INSERT SHAMELESS PLUG FOR .NET (DELETED BY REX)
  3. That's correct, except I believe it's higher resistance. Cleaning bulb bases will reduce resistance.
  4. Need to talk someone into putting it on their car and find out.
  5. Tires won't help body roll much. If you go with just springs without performance shocks, you'll probably just get lots of bounce. Pro Kit springs would be fine, but I'd suggest adding KONI or other adjustable shocks or I don't think you'll be happy with the ride. With Koni Sports you can tune in the ride and handling to suit yourself. However if you are just going to do one thing, good shocks will help your handling more than just springs or just tires. Judging from the age of the car, it may need shocks anyway.
  6. One thing you gotta watch on the cheapies is that some of them don't fit.
  7. Go to www.autotrader.com and search on new vehicles.
  8. I have used the 3M double faced moulding tape, the kind with the red backing. Just take the tape and cut little pieces to fit on the back of the emblem stick them on the emblem and trim as needed. Then clean the area for the emblem with rubbing alcohol and stick it on. Press against the emblem for about 30 seconds to a 1 minute. I did this on another car and it was still in good shape after more than a year.

  10. Gee, we originally developed run-flat tires for VIP type armored cars so the bad guys couldn't shoot the tires out. Does Lexus think you guys are going to get shot at? :snoooorrrtttt:
  11. Just to find out, I searched Alldata for SC 430, 2002 and 2003 models and there are no service bulletins re paint or paint chips. I have a IS300 bought used. I touched up all the paint chips on the frong edge of the hood and fenders about two weeks ago. I waxed the car today and discovered 4 new small chips on the front fenders. I've also heard this complaint on IS300.net forums. I just ordered a bra, which I plan to use when travelling. I kept a bra on my 94 Firebird and the nose looked good as new when I took it off. Only problem is it's ugly with the bra in place.
  12. I believe resetting the ECU is only going to take it back to the default. It's still going to have to be driven to learn. relearn as you drive. If you're just putting a K&N replacement filter in, it's not that big of a change.
  13. You shouldn't need to. Even if the K&N makes a little difference, the ECU will catch up in around 200 -300 miles of driving.
  14. I wasn't driving my Firebird much so I put some "Stabil" fuel stabizer in the tank. A couple weeks later I went for a ride and after about 40 miles did some accelration runs. The car was amazing, burning trires, and running like it never did before. I have to attribute that to the Stabil cleaning out the fuel system. Performance must have deteriorated over time and I didn't notice it.
  15. Most big tire stores have a radial runout guage that they can check for "out of round" condition. That might be a good place to start and verify that this is the problem. A bent wheel or out of round tire will shake, but I don't know that it would cause a rattle type noise.
  16. I've found several items on aftermarket springs with stock shocks, but nothing on the other way around. My IS300 has about 18,000 miles and handles ok but I think it needs just a little better damping. I don't want to lower the car, just to improve bouncing for a little better handling. I've looked at Bilsteins and Tokico, and have some experience with Koni Sports on another car. I don't really want to spend the money on adjustables, since I'm not going all out or lowering the car. At present I'm leaning toward Tokico non adjustables, but I really don't know all the options. Any recommendations or experience would be appreciated. thanks
  17. I figure it pops off too, but it doesn't want to pop really easily. I don't want to pry too much and scar something with my scrrewdriver. I just thought someone had previous experience. I guess I need to get a shop manual for that and some other things.
  18. When I first started driving gas was 24.9 cents per gallon. My dad used to pull into the gas station and the guy would pump the gas. He never filled up. Always got $2 worth of gas. That would last him over a week. When I was in college with my own car ('51 Plymouth) I was still buying gas for 24.9 cents per gallon.
  19. I meant to say the map lights stopped working. The part about the sun roof controls was to describe the location. Everything works but the map light.
  20. I checked all that other stuff. I just want to know how to get to the bulb.
  21. 1997 Lexus ES 300 EPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway) Automatic: : 19 mpg / 26 mpg http://www.edmunds.com/used/1997/lexus/es3...denav..6.Lexus* I have a 2002 IS300. I got 25 MPG on a trip and just checked local mileage at 20 MPG. So it's doing about the same as the EPA estimate for that particular car.
  22. Well, a Civic turbo costs maybe $3600 and the car is half the cost of a IS300 so.. ..... .... From what I have found so far, almost everything for IS300 is more expensive.
