  1. good stuff, thanks for the info weird how even though it was off, it was not consistent in one direction
  2. lol not unique to lexus..nobody can find anything they drop in cars
  3. I think it is the consensus of Lexus service folks that it is difficult, and tricky business trying to install non-factory audio, nav, or anything, but something real simple on the es, and that is is way better to just get the car equipped they way you want..or even choose another car if the es does not offer your preferences
  4. Good luck. Did you have your previous car for a long time? Maybe it's just an adjustment period, getting used to the new car. 6 speed transmission, drive by wire throttle etc. When I got my '07 the driving experience was different than I was used to. With the '10 there wasn't much of an adustment. yeah, I am thinking is the same, likely not a tranny problem, just not adjusted to car yet suspect that tranny symptoms would have been noticed by "hubby" or any other driver if there was an actual problem anyway, good luck with it Lexy, and let us know what they have to say
  5. I have a 2010 350 ES. The park assist sensors are slightly smalller than a quarter. On my vehicle, there are two on each side of the front bumper and four on the rear bumper. You would have to look hard to see them. The rear view camera is above the license plate but is almost completely hidden by an indentation in the trunk. You would have to look hard to find it. I know of no holes or brackets. I actually get more use out of the sensors than I do the rear view camera. They let me know when to stop when pulling into a garage, etc. They also warn you if you are getting too close to an obsticle on the side. The rear view camera is nice though but I don't use it as much as I should. I use it mainly to make sure my dogs and cats are ouit of the way when I back up. Sometimes they come out of nowhere and I have to stop. backup camera, and proximity sensors are great was disappointed at first that there was no front center sensor, but seems fine to me now obviously know now where exactly where the front and back of car are, but still find myself using both the camera and the sensors, just enjoy using them after having both systems, it would seem weird to be without them as far as cosmetics, take a look at one, but absolutely zero problem in that regard, can hardly see anything
  6. I'm not talking about taste, I'm just saying in general car designers REMOVE chrome when a vehicle is supposed to be sportier, and ADD chrome when its supposed to be more luxurious. Look at a sports car...no chrome. Look at the M series BMWs and the AMG Benzes, in many cases they have shadowline trim that removes the chrome. Sure the GS is a luxurious looking car, but it is designed to be a sport sedan, same as the IS. They have less chrome than the ES and LS which are designed to be more luxurious than sporty. perhaps that is the current trend, or just the case with the examples you cited but it IS a matter of taste...there is no question there there is a huge chrome parts market for pure sports cars..it is most noticeable with wheels, but there are tons of other chrome parts made just for sports cars..some people go crazy adding to chrome to their sports cars..same with motorcycles where perhaps it is even more obvious I don't like it, and much prefer the look they went for on the types of cars you mentioned, but it is just a look that is not tied to the type of car, but just a matter of taste please concede the point in your next reply as you are obviously wrong, lol
  7. and ride is still too rough/firm, or ok now?
  8. my understanding of brake assist systems is that they help you brake when trying to stop super quick never tried it, but to check it out, I would imagine you would have to brake real quick and hard, and see if you can feel the brake assist system kick in to stop you quicker then you would be able to do on your own you got me curious..without locking um up like some maniac, lol, I'll give it a try to see if I can feel the system kick in
  9. lol, hmmmm, perhaps you are right but I'm gonna still disagree here...don't think the chrome makes it more of a luxary look, just different, and a matter of taste would anyone here like their es look better with car colored door handles, or all on in favor of the chrome?? afterall, I think the GS has a similar luxary look, yet it has the colored handles..you certainly don't look at the GS, and think sport car, even though it's performance is pretty impressive relative to the es
  10. still doubt it is the gas..don't see how those those tranny issue you describe are going to be caused by inferior gas would be nice if it was the gas, easy fix, lol
  11. not a fan of chrome..one of the things I wish was different on my es is the chrome door handles would look better, imo of course, if the handles were the same color as the car like on the GS, and many of the es competitors anyone agree with that, or I'm on my own here, lol?
  12. You might check with a dealer to see if they have a solution/suggestion. Good luck. LexBob...love ya man, but I don't think that was the advice he was looking for,lol unfortunately I have nothing to add, interesting problem though..welcome to the world of computer controlled cars...nothing simple
  13. yes, all wheels should be 17'', unless they were changed after market
  14. gas station does not matter, and symptoms you are describing are not octane related, or anything having to do with the tires you are describing a transmission problem (though kinda vaguely) ..recommend having Lexus take a look tranny symptoms can be subtle at first, so worth having it taken a look at hope you are under warranty, cause if you need tranny work, o boy on price if you have to pay lexus tranny's usually extremely reliable, so kinda weird
  15. tires are fine for smoother ride, MAKE sure the tire pressure is not too high factory recommends 30psi all around most places will put it more by default...pressure makes a ton of difference in the ride let us know
  16. They definitely took a conservative approach with the new Camry. I'm anxious to see one in person to compare with the pics. I'm sure it will sell well, it's just not as swoopy as some of the competition. Maybe not a bad thing for longevity. agree that it will do real well..imo, they would gain share in a big way if they had an AWD option there of a ton of customers who will only buy AWD cars now since there are so many good ones out there at reasonable price points Probably doesn't bode well for the next gen Avalon or the new ES350 to get an AWD option. you might be right, but they would be making a mistake a lot of subaru legacy owners say their car is essentially an AWD camry..camry would take a bunch of market share just with those people similarly the es is hurt by not having an AWD option

  18. thanks for the link looks ok to me, and like always the biggest plus, you get a heck of car for your money
  19. lol, well put of course the maintenance needs to be done for leased cars the dealers want the cars back with low miles and in the best condition possible those are the ones that are candidates for sale as pre-certified where they make nice money usually good deal for the purchaser also, as it makes sense to pay a bit more for the warranty that comes with the pre-certification
  20. ahhh, explains why I have seen all this official hype for the GS,and no direct info regarding the ES
  21. my understand is that the blowers are just in the seat bottom any cooling that takes pace in the seat back would be ambient air flow from the seat bottom blowers, but not really designed for the purpose of cooling the seat back
  22. saw that the gs350 was new for 2013, but didn't see that for the es350 you sure it applies to both?
  23. read something (can't find it now) that said even though it has not been officially announced, 2012 is essentially a no-change one new color as substitute for an existing one anyone have any info to confirm, or otherwise thanks all
  24. did you listen to an es with the ML sound system? my guess is that you would be satisfied with it, and if so, way easier than modifying an es without ML
  25. I know your not going to like this answer, but unfortunately or not, riping and replacing speakers is not a good idea. You'll end up with a really unbalanced mess and a disappointing end result. The Lexus system is made up of a series of matched and balanced crossovers and specific impedance speakers that are in turn, married to a matched amp. When you stick in a speaker willy-nilly it will not match that crossover network and sound like crap. That being said, I was able to add a small sub to my 2010 ES in the trunk, with a separate amp to improve the bass line. It really filled out the bottom and made the whole system sound better. Other than that, there is not a car audio shop in my city that will touch a Lexus when it comes to ripping out OEM equipment and putting in after market speakers and crossovers. If you still want to try it, just make sure your new speaker is the same impedance as the OEM so you don't blow the amplifier. Let us know what you do. Paul I don't get it..perhaps I am too old, lol my system sounds great...listened to the ML system before I bought my standard one, and the ML was absolutely amazing..that should be the move I would think for anyone who has amazing sound as a priority
