SW, It went textbook, But I certainly have a real good idea what Army is going through. After what I went through you tend to look at life/accidents with a enlightened view. the sawzall is the only way to remove it, unless you unweld it, as it is tack (or spot) welded into place. once you have removed it, replace with the new one and weld in. this is the ONLY part of that repair i would let a body shop handle, other than paint. did the airbags deploy?

Well, today i was covering up the mechanics pit in the motor pool. its about a 7 foot drop. this is it, uncovered, under the truck int his pic: Well, i went to cover it up with these daimond plate pattern steel covers. i was laying down cover # 3, and i missed the lip and fell right to the bottom. one of my soldiers, on the other side of the pit, was in the bottom of the pit before i hit the bottom, he grabbed me and turned me over. sort of broke my fall. The reason i am here typing this is because of him. if he hadnt acted quickly, i would have crused my skull on the grated floor , and compacted my neck, paralyzing myself. i am not kidding he was there before i hit the ground, i saw him as i fell. as a result of his actions, i recieved only a cracked shinbone, which is also chipped in 3 places. I smashed it on that little wall that surrounds the pit, to keep liquids from falling into the pit itself. I am REALLY lucky. Without that soldier, i would probably have left on a stretcher, recieved a medical discharge and possibly spent the rest of my life in a wheelchair. anyways, just thought i woudl share, i am taking prescribed Hydrocodone, and Vicodin. havent taken any yet, i want to wait till tonight when i an done running errands. i cant even drive my car for a few days at least, as i need both feet.

I hae seen 2JZ-GE's (your engine) with over half a million miles. treat it right (do a search here on how to do that and visit www.bobistheoilguy.com) by changing your fluids regularly and drive untill it dies, 250K out of these engines is not at all uncommon. it shares its engine with the IS300, the SC300 and the MK IV Toyota Supra.

the charger doesnt generally sit without being driven more than 2 months or so. we dont really do anything other than throw a cover on and call it good. so i can remove the battery completely? i dont believe this would damage anything. i woudl liek to avoid ECU damage, though the car is under warranty until january 2009, or 109,000 miles, whichever comes first (4 year 48K warranty). The stereo does have theft deterrent, ( you are talking about the blinky light behind the faceplate) no code needed. the faceplate would be removed. should i remove the sub too? it may be started once in awhile, but i doubt very seriously if it moves the whole time im gone. the barn is not heated, so should i run the normal collant mix? or a straight coolant, until i return? also, the chager is stored in a climate controlled unit out of the elements. the only element mine will have to deal with are the temps in upstate NY. I will throw a good cover on it as well.

Im talking DARK, like onth eback of trucks and SUV's... you cant hardly see in the rear window of a tahoe... I happened to review window tint laws for most states the past weekend and found that, in some states, much darker tint is specifically allowed on the rear side and back windows of SUV's and van's but not on cars. A few states do not allow darker than standard OEM window tint at all on cars. It seems an odd "double standard". Some sort of electrically controllable window tint has been available in Europe on at least some German cars. You can make the windows or glass roof lighter or darker simply by adjusting a switch on the dash. Wouldn't that be nice in the U.S.? yes it would though this kind of glass is a very expensive option. I agree with steve, it wouldnt be all that practical now that i think about it. the people that like window tint generally arent the vast majority of customers who can afford/want a new LS. I have had tinted windows on everything i have ever owned, because it does 3 things for me: Gives me privacy Keeps my belongings mine Keeps my interior from fading. a fourth thing it did for me in texas was GREATLY reduce interior heat in the summer. but in upstate NY, summers reach 75, 80 degrees, so internal heat buildup is little problem.

i know people in the industry and i had the tint on dads F150 metered before we had 5% put over it, it was 15% factory. no we cant see out the back at night LOL. i know why the front 2 arent tinted to match. i was simply saying i dont understand why they havent done it on cars yet, especially higher end ones. you have proven the point that it wouldnt suit the needs of the buyer and if it does than its something that can be added on at marginal cost. point taken. I see where you are coming from. I would still like to see it offered though, even if it was a special order option, because at some point, tint added to the glass via film fades, cracks, scratches, peels or dulls. tint from the factory, where the glass would actually be tinted, not a film placed over it, wont do any of the above. just my taqke on things...other than that, i love the car. kudo's to lexus, just when you thought it couldnt get any better!

Its 50 state legal, cause there are tahoe, suburban, escalades, blazers, f150's, durangos and every other car with 15%-20% factory tint on the road, in every state. but i see where you are coming from about the preference... :)

I agree very much with your comments Steve. my only qualm/question....Why is there no factory window tint? if they can put it on every SUV and truck on the road...why not on a car that costs 80K?

Well, her it comes folks, the time for deployment is drawing near. I deploy to Calfiornia for NTC in march for 6 weeks, then when i come back, in mid to late summer i willdeploy to Iraq for a year. the 6 weeks im not too worried about, as the car can sit that long. but for the yearlong deployment, i have 2 options: 1) Store with a family member, inside a barn, but will not likely get driven, away from elements. 2) store it outside in the elements (NY winter) will NOT get driven, and is exposed to thieves. if i go with option 1, i will leave a key with my uncle and my cousin, but its not likely either of them will do any more than start once a month or so. if i go with option 2, it wont be started/or move for a year. so...how do i prepare my car properly for storage? Lets have it folks, i know the general just, such as fresh fluids, but should i raise it up off the ground to take the weight off the wheel bearings?
