True. Both the cars and the depots are still pretty expensive, so you're rights it's going to take a long time.

I'd think twice about RHD - can't peek to see if it's clear to pass on two lane highways. Big disadvantage in my books. True. but it'd be fun to have. I learned how to drive on a RHD. I think it's a matter of getting used to.

Straight Piping And O2 Sensors
UCF3 replied to missionmountaincamo's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
The Cat(s) can't be an option, it's a Federal mandate to have one. So neither Dakotas are enforcing the law by police? So how many o2 simulators are being used? -
I know the DOE has talked about the cost to upgrade the infrastructure, but our current administration is more geared towards oil and opening the wild-life reserves. Don't know if you guys have kept up with the latest manufacturer's news but BMW, HONDA , TOYOTA, one of the GM brands and Alfa Romeo have hydrogen powered cars that they're testing. Honda has a home-based Hydrogen refueling unit for sale in the US. Now, I personally believe this is the best solution since Hydrogen power is 0 emission for the near future. My question is what needs to be converted in order to make our SC300/400s run on Hydrogen, and will it still require Gasoline? MissionMountain: Ignore the others, and keep up posted.

Does your climate control features display on the Nav Screen? Also check to see if there's CD or Tape in the deck. if there isn't try putting one into the deck and see if it would play.

Glad to hear everything turned out fine. I on the other-hand was not as lucky with my SC this past Memorial Day weekend. Kid deer too. damaged my fibreglass front end.
-
welcome to the club. I'm interested in this process. Can you provide us with some details, converted parts, to run on Hydrogen and what are some of the results? Please take some pictures and data from your test results as you proceed.

You're interested in getting a Supra(2jzgte)? If you like the SC I would suggest getting the Soarer. There are a number of companies selling the JDM import in Canada.

so you've done this before? I run the car with a closed hood for another 4 minutes. Blowing compressed air around the area you're concerned about helps to. I'm glad you're going to take care of that engine.

Lights That Come On When You Turn On The Turn Signal...
UCF3 replied to dgllexus's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
ah, your headlights are on as well. DGLLexus: Are you trying to convert them to Turning Lights like on my I35, and a bunch of domestic cars? -
I'm just guessing on it. since both Sound performance and the other one look at and didn't mention the fuel rail, that might not be the problem. Did you have this problem when you bought and installed it for the first time? Perhaps you can Call Turbonetics and ask one of their techs.

shame on you LexusHam. not cleaning your engine bay. Just cover the Distributor Cap and the Battery terminals, leave the car running and start spraying. Lethal_threat: I guess you've already bought them. all that I'm going to say is :snoooorrrtttt:

if it's just road oil and not Tar then pre wax cleaners for Mothers or Meguires should do the trick. I think this solution was discussed in either the Show and Shine or Detailing and Care Care forums.

it revs then it chokes, even if i hold the gas pedal it sits at 200 rpm and when i release the pedal it dies totaly.i dont want to have to take out my cluster anhd wait for it to be sent back,id rather buy a remanufactured unit so i can drive the car while im waiting for it Can't tell you exactly what's wrong with your engine without seeing it in person, but sounds very close to you're having a fuel or an air mixture issue. Any change the fuel injectors have been replaced in the past? A lot of people have added 87 Grade Fuel to these cars causing the injectors to be clogged. Don't know where you can get a reman'd lexus cluster/console. Dealers, Ebay or the junk yards would be my guess. If you do change your mind about getting the cluster or the climate control done, the refurbishing companies usually take a couple of days or maximum 2 weeks. Just monitor your fuel consumption since you won't know what's left in your tank. my main 2 o2 sensors are bad,ive gotta wait till next paycheck to fix em,thats causeing it to run leave, will that cause it to die when cranked?the gauges work, just the lights in the needles are out running lean, no. you'll probably have to do an EGR clean to solve that; I take it your check engine light is probably on? You have a clog somewhere. Do you have a reliable mechanic to go to? check engine light is on,but the only two codes that come up,are for the main left and right o2 sensors, and one that says it is running lean, which the lexus mechanic told me is prolly caused by the bad o2 sensors.how much does an egr clean cost?how hard is it to do? I think we've talked about other places where you can buy the o2 sensors cheaper in a different Post. Replacing the sensors will control the flow of exhaust air, but it's running lean because there's a bit of hesitation up stream. I don't know whether you're doing this through the dealer or is the mechanic working for you. If the Lex-Tech is working for you expect to pay somewhere around $2-300 depending on how much carbon is built-up in the pipes and chamber. it's a 2-3hr job, and on the books it's a 3-4hr job. The dealer will charge you a lot @ $109 or whatever they're charging today.

they are selling me the right and left main o2 sensors, couldnt find them anywhere local but at the dealer toyota or Lexus dealer? I was thinking they were selling you gold-plated :) I personally wouldn't buy it from them. Try a toyota dealer first and if that doesn't do it check out the link below http://www.densoproducts.com/resultsApp.as...uctCategoryID=2 they're selling universals frnt L/R for like a $100 and change. That's what toyota and lexus is going to selling you. Also if you can replace all of the sensors, there should be four to six along your exhaust. This way you don't have to re-visit this issue hopefully later.

the foglight is an easy fix. Autozone should have the light in stock, and no you don't want to swap it out for an aftermarkets from there. It's not a Ford!!! :) Any luck finding a good mechanic? Word of mouth is usually the best way to find one. Now I personally wouldn't spend $2k on wheels and tires, not before making sure the car runs. Lets get the mechanics fixed first.

Are most toyota supra suspension parts compatible with lexus sc 400 suspension parts? (newbie question sorry) Primarily the rear suspension. It varies from year to year, but remember your "built year" and search on Intellexual or Lextreme .coms.

Oops, i didn't even realize you wrote (...a piece). What are they selling you?

haha nope stock for me! i like to mod my own cars. it's an expensive route, but i find it more satisfying. wow it took you that long and the mileage was till high. i already told the guy i didn't want his car. now i sort of regret it. yup 6 months of waiting. I wasn't in a hurry, and this one was in the DC area, so I went for it. You have access to the JDM right-hand cars. No interest in them?

what kind of a dealership is this? Two things, one: have the car inspected by a Lexus, Toyota and your personal mechanic, or if possible have Carmax inspect it( they find all sorts of problems, body/frame, engine, electrical.) If you don't have a Carmax near you inspect the paint and look for overspray. Also look in the engine bay and search for leaks. While you're in there check all the fluid levels and colours. the dirtier the colour the less likely you'll have to reservice the car as soon as you buy it. If you find problems use those as your bargaining chips. Just remember the dealer does not want to keep that car on the lot any longer than it has to be. Also ask for the invoice. Used car lots usually don't want to give you that because they want to maximize profits, so insist on it if they are serious about selling the car-be prepared to walk out otherwise they won't take you seriously. If they provide you with it add $500-1000 to the invoice price, and ask them if they've done any services to the car since it's been with them. If they have, oil change, battery service, tire replacement NEW, ding-dent-scratch removals are the common ones. it should not cost more than $500. If it's a couple of hundred you can add it to your cost, anything higher offer to split it with the dealer. Now if their invoice is close to their asking price $14k asking $13,6 invoice, and you're satisfied with the car then paying them the $14 is up to you. If it requires work, walk away. Hope this helps a bit

Not an expert with Turbos yet, but it sounds almost like you're having a fuel issue. Was the Fuel Rail upgraded?

Electrical issues don't cause the engine to misfire or idle rough. It sounds like you're going to need a tune-up
