  1. 98-05 gs300 "problems/features" Ball joints snap easy if lowered or with huge !Removed! tires wheel bearings in the front thats about it for em. lower joints are like 35 a pop. the upper ball joint and control arm costs an arm and a leg.
  2. oem is the way to go. go to an auto parts store and get the ngk's. they are about 4 bucks a pop
  3. auto to manual? pain in the !Removed!. be ready to pull out the motor to drill the clutch hole, connect shift linkages... etc... just get an auto tranny. or swap an auto gte into it. labor is extensive for the auto to manual conversion.
  4. the gas light? as for the 5 gallons, is that for all gs300(98-05)?
  5. question here is do you still want the oem look to them? or after market? if after market, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-2005-LEXUS-GS-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-CCFL-HALO-BLACK-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZYearQ3a1998Q7cModelQ3aGS300QQhashZitem483a56552eQQitemZ310216381742QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories those look hella nice with 8k hids. also invest in yellow foglights. super sexy http://www.dragtimes.com/parts/JDM-Yellow-9006-Fog-Lights-Bulbs-Lexus-GS300-GS350-GS_380158182020.html
  6. save up extra and get the carbon/kevlar hood and trunk. they are expensive but well worth the money and last longer. be prepared to cough up money for clear coats. invest in a car bra if you like it not chipped.
  7. apexi exhaust are nice also. im still deciding what brand i should go with. and how thick i want the piping. its still my daily and VA laws are anal about exhausts :cries: . gotta get something that sounds mean but doesnt attract too much attention.
  8. old post i know. had the same problem. heat shield. took it off and it solved it. its pretty useless there anyways. less weight is the way i look at it
  9. agree with the guy above but the gs ac port is a bit tricky to find as compared to hondas(yuck). anyways, find the compressor and look to the right of it. should see a little black cap. the rest you can figure out
  10. Actually, they really build them.. exhausts that is absolutely the dumbest and most retarted idea i have seen in my life for exhausts. i mean sure if you want your car to look like a harley with the chrome pipes then go for it... wonder what happens when rain pours in it overnight, floods and rusts out that so called "stainless steel" exhaust.
  11. wave, do it yourself, shops will quote you at least 2 hours even though it will be done in one. its not that hard to do. it looks like it at first, but once you start, its a smooth process... there is a pdf file you can google for the instructions. and if doin the plugs, change the wires as well since you have the intake plenum off.
  12. another DONT: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://media.fakeposters.com/results/2009/07/28/dx0rwg7zx5.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fakeposters.com/posters/horsepower/&usg=__4sWFkA2c1cd4-Sn1lt5WeEELjFE=&h=480&w=600&sz=64&hl=en&start=0&sig2=sN0MAH7kzOK16zpGHxBqew&zoom=1&tbnid=cueOlWVUznBWVM:&tbnh=160&tbnw=212&ei=HfCOTIzmAY2Onwes6pj_DA&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhorsepower%2Bis%2Bnot%2Bmeasured%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1600%26bih%3D632%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=368&vpy=91&dur=403&hovh=170&hovw=212&tx=108&ty=65&oei=HfCOTIzmAY2Onwes6pj_DA&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0
  13. Yes: HaHaha!!, ..........the Bazookie racer! Awesome! and what are you talking about? thats a sick exhaust. NOT. funny as hell though. was that actually done or photoshopped?
  14. as far as a good exhaust, borla is a way to go. it sounds smooth and isnt too loud. consider hks as well. both are a little pricey but are well worth the money. congrats on the purchase of a real car and welcome to the forum
  15. the donts: http://www.spokentorque.com/forums/album.php?albumid=22&pictureid=170
  16. there are a lot of online instructions on this as well. pm me if you would like the link also as i can send you parts of the repair manual for that specific job. its a pdf file
  17. the ball joints? that procedure takes about 30 minutes a side. take off your tire and take off the two bolts to the left and the main bolt for the ball join. its really easy, not worth the 1080 the shop is saying. go online as well, many videos on how to do it
  18. got an extra motor sitting in my garage. was thinking i was gonna convert it to a gte. just wanted to make sure that the whole process would work before getting a gte head and all the extras then finding out they wont fit. thanks for the help
  19. uhmmm the gs series are rear wheel drive buddy. no cv axles there
  20. Anyone done one on a na 2jz? if so, can you post pics as to what was tucked in?
  21. put that car on a diet. back seats out, spare tire, carbon fiber front end... lighter rims. NOT CHROME.lol. other minor mods, maybe a ecu, tune it, if all that is too much, then forced induction is the way to go. cars hold up to 400 hp stock.
  22. has anyone tried to switch out the heads? like take one off a gte and put it on the ge? of course includes the ecu pistons, rods the whole nine i guess... anyone done this and had it work?
  23. 22s? well raise the suspension:/ also change out your ball joints all the time. or they will snap... in half... includes upper control arms as well... go with 18s and slam it. VIP
  24. shouldnt need anything else then the starter. just get the new one and replace it once you locate the old one. just be glad you dont have the gs400, those starters are a royal pain in the !Removed!.
  25. maybe worn tie rod ends? and does it click faster when you accelerate?
