  1. got mine off ebay. purchased the "trd" brand shiftknow. yea cutting and rethreading it would be the other way to go, but i found my way a bit easier.
  2. Forgot to add in... Especially for the VVTI motors. I believe the first gen 2jz's were non interference. I know the vvti ones are though. also heard that the GTE with vvti is non interference as well?
  3. My opinion, I would change it. Use a Toyota OEM belt though. Too many consequences if the belt snaps. You would be looking at broken valves, damaged piston cups, possibly looking at a rebuild if the belt snaps.
  4. dont cut it, just get an afermarket shift knob that looks like the oem. and you can drop it down. thats what i did with mine
  5. Could be another faulty sensor? Try testing the electrical connection on the four abs sensors that go into the hub.
  6. timing= the gears that the timing belt sits on are not timed correctly anymore. If that is the case, get the timing belt changed. What causes the motor to go off timing? The timing belt could have skipped teeth or vice versa. One of the gears could have done the same. Either way, have a tech check it out for you.
  7. tranny will work. its cheaper to swap for the gte version rather then piecing a kit together and then tuning it and blah blah blah. buy a swap and do it that way...

  9. You diagnosed it right. The abs sensors are bad. The back ones should read the same. Check them out. Could be cracked by the boot of it. If so, message me, i will let you know an easy fix for them under 10 dollars. With having the vsc, vsc off and abs lights on all at once, it also makes your engine run in limp mode as well which cuts your power output by 1/2. Also check your struts/shocks as they could have given out as well due to the lowering. change the lower ball joints in the front as well since they will snap and you will crap your pants when they do.
  10. are they made of glass? or just plastic? i understand that they are rare.
  11. there is a service manual posted in the IS section of this forum. its for the motor and the tranny. pdf file and its free, beats paying the 180 dollars the factory manual costs.
  12. To all of the users requesting the manual. There is one posted on the IS section of this forum. For the engine part at least. Its a pdf file.
  13. with jps, you get what you pay for. those tail lights are orgasmic. super clean with a vip look to them
  14. post pics of the progress please. would like to see
  15. lexusman is right. run another amp. wouldnt chance it with the stock one.
  16. 5k is a steep dive. considering i find those motors on other forums for under 2k. look hard enough you can find one for less. are you doing the labor yourself as well?
  17. Anyone know where to get a pair at a descent price? Not really trying to throw 1200 bucks on them. any ideas? the ones on this gs?
  18. personally i wouldnt chance it with the water pump. its a part that calls for replacement with the timing belt at the same time. as far the other seals, those arent a part of the timing belt/water pump maintenance.
  19. cliffy's price sounds a lot better. or if you are mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself as well if you have the proper tools. its not really that hard for it. if you go on the IS forum of this site, it has the guide on how to do it.
  20. royal purple is great oil. 5w-30 is what the manual calls for. i have been using mobil 1 5w-30. give royal a try, let me know how it goes.
  21. Paid 350 for labor for timing belt and water pump.
  22. Hello to all I have a 99 GS300. Bought it about 6 months ago. Had some problems when i got it at first, timing belt snapped which blew the head sky high, right front lower ball joint broke on me on the highway cruising at 65. almost *BLEEP* my pants what that happened.lol. after fixing her all up(new shocks, ball joints upper and lower, new head) i cant stop loving her. everytime i get in, its a wonderful ride, super comfy and quick as well.
  23. could be the reason the forum is dead: not a lot of people can afford a gs let alone an upkeep for one :D
  24. lol white boys and gs's....yes its possible ive done it to my gs :) its simple....you simply buy spacers for your car :) $50 for front $50 for rear and it lifts your car bout 2 inches :) then simply get the 22's and slap them on after you slap them on.. you simply clown all them lil gs with 18's 19's and 20's lol is that a louie vatton tint on that gs? looks dumb. wtf?
