  1. Come guy, think about things, the bigger-diameter wheels usually require shorter-sidewall tires. The stubbier the sidewall, the stiffer the ride. Nissan, for instance, uses 18-inchers on some models of the Titan pickup, but if order the off-road package, you get 17s instead. That way the tire sidewall can be taller (and be equal in overall diameter with the 18s and shorter sidewalls) and will help a absorb some of the rough-stuff impacts via a sidewall that gives a bit more. i.e...........the bigger the wheel the rougher the ride and that is a FACT.
  2. Stupid Question but the drivers side brake light is out in my GS. Went to change it and I was surprised to see that it was going to be a little more difficult than I expected. Do you have to remove the sheet metal under the carpet in the truck to get to the rear light housing unit to change the bulbs, or do you have to remove the whole housing itself?
  3. I found out from the mechanic which sensor it is. It is the Downstream senor #1. The sensor for the #1 cylinder. Now which side is that, divers of passenger? Before or after the cat? Where can a guy find Walker or Denso O2 sensors? I tried a couple of place but no luck, they carry Bosch and AC Delco.
  4. Thanks for save me the bread Guy. Three cheers for GuyTelefunken.............. .........HIP..HIP..HORRAY...........HIP..HIP..HORRAY......HIP..HIP..HORRAY cheers bro...... next time you are in Lincoln, NE look me up and I will buy you a beer........
  5. As for your question ZINFANDEL22n I don’t have the answer. I know that I am getting a genuine Lexus valet key from Lexus. This is all I need because I am installing a Viper Remote Starter and Alarm, so my master key will be under the dash with a transponder to trick the car into thinking that the valet key is a master key. Where are you at Zin? City and State? I know a lock smith who has the right machine to cut the key.
  6. The recommended tire size is 225/55R16 or P215/60R16. My front tires are 245/35R19 not quite the OEM tire size, but my snow tires on stock rims are P215/60R16 and they vibrate like a pink, AA battery taken ribbed....................well you get my drift. ;)
  7. Thanks Guy, I talked to my cousin, he has a car lot and he said that he has a OBDII to clear the code. Now I just need to find out which sensor it is. Doesn't auto part stores have the devices to tell you what code it is. Places like O'Reillys,. Advance, Napa and Auto Zone? Thanks for the info, Here's to you Guy
  8. GuyTelefunken, have you changed your O2 sensors before? Is it easy? If my mechanic wont tell me which sensor is bad, ( since there is 4 of them) how can I tell which on it is? Should I buy an aftermartket sensor ( if so which brand to you recommend ) or one from Lexus? I would love to save the cash. Thanks for the help. ;) And buy this kit?
  9. Here is how it works. You order the key from www.StrretKeys.com with the vin # of the Lexus, then they will send you a blank key. You take that key to a Key Master and they will cut the key. Then there is a process that will program the key. You have to have the master key to program the valet key.
  10. Has anyone got a key from Street Keys before? The price for a spare valet key with Lexus emblem is $50 uncut and un-activated, or $152 to have it delivered cut and activated. Or I can get a Valet key from Lexus, cut and activated for $85. What does it take to activate the key? You dont have to be a rocket scientist to do the math here. Save $67 bucks and go trough the dealership. It's like grandma said "it's not what you know, but who you know." :D It's nice having connections to a Lexus Dealership. :P
  11. I will be the ginnie pig and install a set if someone wants to buy them for me.
  12. You are right Turbo it was a 02 sensor. One out of four, that I am told the 00' GS has. Price some where around $300 - $350 to get the new one installed, if my memory serves me right. Does this price sound about right?
  13. I shall go with the Viper 791XV model. Security and responder remote starter. $510 installed.
  14. I do have 19'' wheels not even as good as volks and i just started my journey with them. I know it's pain in a** to get them balanced really well. My tip for you: If your brakes and wheels have been checked for any possible defects, in my opinion there is only one problem you have to fix: UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS AND BUSHINGS, IF ALL OF THEM OR JUST SOME PARTS ARE LOOSE, DAMAGED ROAD WILL CAUSE LOOSE PARTS TO VIBRATE(MOVE) AND YOUR STEARING WHEEL TOO. This is how i have fixed steering wheel vibration on my '00 GS400. It doesn't cost alot of money to have it checked- if that wont work i think it is wheel or tire issue My $0.02 ← Thanks Master I will have my mechanic check all of them tomarrow. I hope and pray that is the problem. ← Yeah, no problem man, The only problem is that some parts are pricey, i've spent lil over 1K to fix my suspention and i got my car 2-3 months ago with 70K on it, WELL- I LOVE MY CAR ANYWAY ← Let us see the beauty, show her off. Where are the pictures?

  16. I have the same problem with my 2000. I went from stock wheels and OEM tires to 19 inch Volk Racing wheels and 30/35 series Yokohama tires. The steering wheel vibrates bad starting at 60 mph up to 68 - 70mph, and then it goes away, but not totally. Same thing with braking, vibration. I have done some research on this and talk to several different people who all say that if you change OEM wheels and tires on a Lexus it will vibrate no matter what you do. I have center rings on all of my wheels and they have been balanced several times and even balanced up to 70 MPH. Most tire shops will only balance up to 35-40 mph if even that fast. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
  17. I am going to buying a remote starter. Does anyone have a Remote Starter on their Lexus? If so what is the best brand, Pros and Cons. Living in the Midwest it gets very cold and snowy. It would be great ot start the car from inside of work or the store so the leather is not freezing when I get in. I can get a Viper 591 XV 2 way Remote Start System with the key transponder (i think that is what it is called) and installed for $392. Who makes the best remote starter. Help please. Any advice would be great.
  18. By the way, I had one low beam burn out on me and I brought it back to checker auto where I purchased it and they gave me a new one free of charge. 2+ Yrs. now. ← I guess it all depends on where/who you buy the lights from. I bought mine from O'Reily's Auto Store.
  19. thanks Guy, it goes in to the shop tomarrow, Fri. I will let everyone know the code
  20. The other day the check engine light came on in my 2000 GS300. But the weird thing is that it came on exactly at 97k miles to the tenth. Is this standard. Has anyone had this happen right at 97k before? I am taking it to the mechanic next week. Thanks for the feedback in advance.
  21. Had SilverStars in all 4 lights, high, low and Cool Blue in the fog lights. They only last one year and then they burn out. Called Silver Star and they said that 1 year is the average life of the bulb.n At $40 a set that is expensive to replace every 12 months or so. The Cool blue fog lights are still working. I am going to go with a aftermarket HID kit. In 3 years with the Silver Stars the HID would be paid for. Good Luck which ever way you go TAGGAR.
  22. Then your battery in the bay will look like this. There is some contraversy on these batteries but it is the best battery I have owned so far. ;) ← dcfish, is you gs turbo? I am planning on putting the twin turbos off of my cousins 95 supra and putting them of my 00 gs300.
