  1. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of it? My sister in law bought a used '00 Rx300 from a Lexus Dealer one month ago and has put 2000 miles on it. She loves it but when the Check Engine Light came on her husband checked the oil level. It was low so they added some oil..........4 quarts.:cries: Since those 4 quarts they have had to add two more. There is no sign of leakage under the vehicle nor does it look like its burning oil. The vehicle has 85,500 miles on it. That is a total of 6 quarts in a one month period. The dealer in Tennessee flushed the motor and they said that there was no sign of oil sludge. However could it not be that in doing a engine flush that the oil sludge would break down with the compound that is used to flush the motor out? They want her to drive another 1000 miles on it to see if there is any sludge build up. By then here warranty would be expired. The out of state dealer that she bought it from said that if it was oil sludge they would have to do an complete engine swap $8000. And that they would \pay to have it shipped to there dealer to perform the engine swap. Thanks in advance for you input. http://www.autosafety.org/article.php?scid=185&did=1261
  2. thats funny !!!!!!! I just talked to the service manager at this dealer and picked his brain about the 90k service on any LX470 and he recommend that it be done for several different reasons. To make a long story short I talked to the sales rep and he talked to the Pre-own manager and they are going to replace the water pump and timming belt for me. Oh yea and by the way NO Lexus motor is a interferance motor.
  3. I am looking at buying a '00 from a dealer it was a recent local trade in. The LX has alittle over 90k on it. The sales man told me that they inspected the vehicle and fix the things that needed fixin, but they looked at the timming belt and water pump and decided that it was in good shape and didnt, "didnt" need to be replaced. So they didnt replace it. Is there any truth to this. Why would a dealer take apart a motor to get to the timming belt and then look at it and not replace it. Is this a dealer "bait n hook" to get me to bring it back in a year to get it replaced? thank for the feedback.
  4. I am looking at putting tv's in the headrests. I was going to go thru BestBuy because they use Myron & Davis http://www.myronanddavis.com/pdut.asp?cateid=1 . Who sends you a replacement Headrest OEM with the TV already installed in it. You keep your headrests with out damaging them. The problem lies that Myron & Davis only carries '02 and newer. I own a '00. Does anyone know if the headrests are the same from '00 and '02? The interior is tan in color. Does anyone have any sugestions or pictures on tv's in the headrest?
  5. I am looking at buying a 99 Lx470 good price only bad thing it hasnt been to the Dealer, or any shop for a PM service since it had 22K on it. Currently it has 104K on it. Is the motor in a 1999 LX470 a interference motor? I just got a quote to change the Timing belt, Timing belt tensioner pulley(s) (is there one or two parts to this pulley), water pump, add anti-freeze and change out serpentine belt and belt pulley. labor $400 parts + $628 Total = $1030 What is everyones thought on this price. Being that this is the first estimate that I have recieved I dont know whether it is a good/fair/high price. This estimate is from a non-dealer. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
  6. Welcome to the Family, you wont buy another car but a Lexus now !!!!!!!
  7. Do you know of a dealer that will. The LX470 is being sold by a car dealer not a Private Person.
  8. I am looking at buying a LX 470 but I want to get the service report from LEXUS first to see what work has been done at the dealer. So I called the local Dealer here in Lincoln, NE (Lexus of Lincoln). They told me that the report that they would run would only show it the vehicle had been serviced there. Is there any truth to this? If not who should I call to get this VIN ran?
  9. 2002 LX470 53,000 miles 1 owner and fully loaded with every option (I think) $27,000 (personal offer to me) Today I test drove and took home for 24 hours a 2002 Lx470 with 53k. Currently own a 00' Gs300 and would never consider getting rid of it. But because I have a new addition to the family coming, it will be to hard to fit 3 kids into a GS300. So now it is time to upgrade. I love my GS300 to death but not knowing much about the LX models I don’t know what to expect in one. This is a single owner LX470 that came from a leasing company out of CT. Though the home location on the Nav system gives the location of NY. The vehicle looks like it is in GREAT condition inside and out with minor surface scratches on the roof (runs smooth too). But I picked it up at 8 pm and it is hard to tell in the dark. Tomorrow will so more in the daylight. It has every option I believe for that year. It is a light tan color with tan interior. I know that this is a good deal, but is it to good to be true, in the fact that I should snatch it up ASAP. The dealer has had the vehicle for 2 weeks now. I know the dealer that is selling it personally, so I don’t think that there is anything wrong with it. However the TCS light on the display comes on periodically. Both the ON and OFF lights at the same time while in park or driving down the road. Wheel speed sensor they tell me. And there is alot of wind noise it seems driving down the Highway compared to the GS. Just looking for some feedback. It is a little more than I was looking to spend and a couple of years newer as well. I was hoping to get a 99-00 for around 20K or so knowing that the miles would be around 75-80K for these years. But this seems to me like a great deal from the info that I can gather....KBB, Edmunds and NADA plus looking thru that forum and at LX470's on EBay and Auto Trader. Thanks in advance for the feedback. :)
  10. I wouldn't do business with them. Very poor customer service and BAD business work ethics.
  11. I would check on EBay first. They have alot of gs300 om there. What is your MOS? I have buddies in the Corps in Japan. Anyways good luck and buy them rims now since you are over there and shipping them back. OOH RAA! Semper Fidelis
  12. NEO, They are 245/35ZR19's in front and 275/30ZR19's in the rear. I bought the Volk Racing rims and tires on them from my cousin who ordered them from Japan and had them on his 1996 Supra. So I would imagine the he ordered them that way on purpose.
  13. The warning tab is grinding on the rotor now on my front brakes. I was told be the brake shop that the rotors were to warn to turn. The funny thing is that only the front drivers side is warn and it is the inside pad. The rest of the brake pads are ok. I had all new brakes and pads put on 1 1/2 years ago. So I think that I am going to buy new cross drilled and slotted rotors, I have to replace them all. I saw this on ebay. Is it a good buy? Rotors and pads. Would I need steel braided lines aswell? Check this out!
  14. Go with the 19's. They will give you a much better ride then the 20's. Do you want your Lexus to ride smooth like a Lexus does and should, or have a "Martini" shaker. You will feel every little bump with 20's. I have 19's on my '00 GS300 with 19x8.5" +34 offset in the front and 19x9.5" +40 offset in the rear. 30 series tires in the front and 35 series in the rear. It looks sharp and rides nice.
  15. *************UPDATE***********UPDATE***********UPDATE************ Well no word back from the local shop. I don’t think that they want to help me out with my little problem that I paid them for. But I fixed it. All I had to do was switch the lights from Auto to On and after about 20 seconds the head lights go off. Just like they did with the factory delay. Easy fix. Hope this is some help to those who have this problem too.
  16. mrcubes2u, post some pictures Bro. I am going to upgrade to HID's and trying to get an idea of what HID's to go with. 4000K 6000K or 8000K ?
  17. better replace the brakes ASAP, the longer you wait the more $$$$$ it will cost you in the long run. Not to mention they may cause an accident.
  18. Here we go again with the pizza cutters on the GS.
  19. That is when you TURBO the GS300. But then again if you got the cash to float the turbo, misc equipment and mapping then you got the cash for the big boy V8.
  20. I think that he was trying to gather info about the '06 GS430. To make a "logical" decision on with car to purchase. Obviously he didn’t do enough home work.
  21. Here is the results but I only get a two diget code. Do I just disreguard the B1421/ in front of the 21? I think that these are my codes?
  22. It is all in fun, none of us are really serious :whistles: . Look at it this way "jsmoov" it looks like you probably have the nicest car with in a 10 mile radius or at least on the street. ;)
