  1. I'm impressed! A very well thought out argument with a lot of information I didn't know. Then, I am not surprised. Paul
  2. Not totally sure I would jump to the amp as your problem, but it sure is a possibility. You can contact "dcfish" on this forum for a possible amplifier source, and or e-bay is another possibility. Paul
  3. Welcome to the LOC. Live long and prosper! Paul
  4. No wonder the country is in the shape it is...I didn't know you could get a LFA with your SS check! :/ ;) :) I didn't mean the whole car, just the valve stem for the front, left tire!!! (probably would need next months check as well.)lol
  5. I just got my social security check for the month so I'm going to the dealer today and order an LFA. LOL!! I realy like the ads as well. It really shows of all the reasons why I like Lexus. Paul
  6. A new series of Lexus commercials featuring a string of LS's hung by their frame only from a crane. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/18/video-behind-the-scenes-with-lexus-the-hard-way-spot/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29 Paul
  7. Found your rim at "allfactorywheels.com" for $255. That may be new or reconditioned I'm not sure. The number is 877-9-Wheels. I know nothing about this firm and have never used them so be advised. Good luck, Paul
  8. Been thinking. Jim's idea would work if you could drive the loaner to the two cities where you say you have the FM interference. Hopefully the dealer would cooperate since they don't have any other way to help you. It would at least be a viable diagnostic tool. Second; Is there ANY interference with the AM signal in any other location. For example in a garage, under a bridge. How about the FM signal? ANY signal strength problem under any condition/location? I'm wondering if we can eliminate an antenna connection or wire nick or some problem in the head unit itself where the antennas connects. If the antennas are good, and by that I mean there should be some signal loss on the FM side when you go into a garage, parking ramp, etc., the same with AM, but a strong signal otherwise. One caution, you can have signal problems when your driving among tall buildings. The buildings will block the signal and cause it to fade in and out as you drive down the street. Other than these things, I do not know what could be the cause of such a peculiar problem. Paul
  9. IMO dealers sincerely try, but know little to nothing about audio problems. I would strongly suggest checking with a local reputable car audio dealer/installer to see if they can shed some light on the subject.
  10. There is the old saying they always use in selling car lease's. "Never buy a depreciating asset." I always assumed that in this scenario, the word "asset" was an oxymoron. I have always been curious as to why cars depreciate the way they do. Until the recent past, we could depend on our homes appreciating. The value of our spouse's jewelry increased over time. The value of our kids education brought them more value as time went on. Even our investments gave us a reasonable return as averaged out. The market is back up over 11,600. But not our car. Who says a 05' ES is worth $14,000. Is it the auction house? Dealer? Buyer? KBB? Who steps up when that car hits the street and controls the fluctuation of the market. In my experience, I have never felt like it was me, the customer. I would really like to know someones learned opinion on this, for over the years, the car pricing game has always felt like a crap shoot. But there has to be a logical reason why the game has lasted so long and apparently worked so well. As for leasing over buying, I have done both, and there are great benefits to both. If I was in business I might lease again. However, I don't like having payments all the time. I have also bought only two year old cars with service records to let someone else take that first 1/2 year hit on depreciation. I just bought a new car this year because I wanted that specific car. Go figure. Paul
  11. I know I do. Unless you just like to waste money, it just makes sense to factor in depreciation. It's also the one thing I always found the most difficult to determine on a lease. Paul
  12. Not sure if your saying it's funny or bad, but it sounds pathetic to me. Paul
  13. Is the option something that can be ordered an installed by the dealer, or must it be done at the factory? Paul
  14. Welcome to the LOC! What year is your GX, and did the dealer specify that the vibration was specific to that year and model only?
  15. The games they play with your lease, and the comeback of leasing. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/08/report-auto-leasing-making-a-strong-comeback/ At bottom of first page, click on (Source: Wards Automotive) for rest of article.
  16. Do luxury car buyers really care about depreciation, or is a Lexus buyer, BMW buyer, Infinity buyer, immune from such things? Is Kelley Blue Book full of it? Paul http://autos.aol.com/article/how-do-you-choose-right-vehicle-trim-level/
  17. Works for me! Thanks for the response. I will keep to the recommended intervals just to be safe. Some have mentioned Amsoil, others Mobil One. Any thoughts? Paul
  18. Paul...because it's better...of course... :chairshot: (only kidding around with you) I also use synthetic amsoil in my BMW...Redline...in my Harley...and whatever the synthetic oil Toyota uses in my GX... I used to use Amsoil in my RX330. (This info below is from Wikipedia) These are all of the reasons that I started and continue to use. To many reasons for me to think of this morning why I use it! :) The technical advantages of synthetic motor oils include:[citation needed] Measurably better low and high temperature viscosity performance - this I see proof in my Harley! Better chemical & shear stability Decreased evaporative loss Resistance to oxidation, thermal breakdown and oil sludge problems Extended drain intervals with the environmental benefit of less oil waste. Improved fuel economy in certain engine configurations. Better lubrication on cold starts Longer engine life OK...who's writing your material Lexir...or maye that's the problem, you need to HIRE someone! LOL HA..I love the humor! Thank you for all the info. on the synthetic. I had no idea there was some many benefits. One question. On my 2010 ES, When it comes time for my 5k oil change and I put in synthetic, will I run the risk of voiding the warranty if I run past the recommended interval for the next oil change since the synthetic doesn't need to be changed until latter? Paul
  19. I have never used synthetic, and don't know much about it. Why do you want to use it? Thanks, Paul
  20. Lets us know what you find out! Paul checked out the settings..only has on/off (it was on), and one setting to change the distance of the rear sensor only o well, I will let the service dept take care of it..almost ready for the first oil change anyway
  21. Your right about that. With 1.9%, which is what I financed mine for, plus the $1000. certificate, plus 10% off msrp, plus trade, it does slim down things a bit. I don't know how much cash Toyota has on hand to finance these promotions and I wonder how much they allocate to the Lexus division. At some point the bill does come due. Not to mention all the payouts for the acceleration complaints. HA! 1.9% on a GX... :cries: No way...at least when I bought mine...the best...BEST you could get tier 1 credit was around 4%. The finance specials they run on the ES's, IS,s RX's do not apply to GX, LS, or LS... I had financed my X5 when I bought it at .9%... Let's face it.... you just have way to frickin' much money!! ..LOL We poor folk get all the breaks. Paul

  23. You know I thought this made a difference too but it doesn't...the volume of the iPhone becomes fixed...so you can't adjust the volume on the phone once it is connected. I thought you could but someone corrected me on here...went and tried it and sure enough I was wrong. To tell you the truth I use Pandora all of the time and I always start it before I get in the GX and have the volume as low as it can be...kind of muted and when I get in and the Bluetooth connects it starts playing fine. Have been doing that since I have had the GX and never thought about it. This is of course unless there is something I haven't learned yet! STOP!...don't do that. You were having a "modest" moment!! I'm certain it will pass...soon. LOL! Paul
