  1. I'm new to Lexus vehicles and may not understand manual override, but if you mean when the car is rolling can you use all the function of the navigation the answer is no you can't. Or if there is a menu item that allows you to override "car rolling" I haven't found it. Some of the functions are available via voice command. I'll be happy to check something specific, if that would help.
  2. Yes, it certainly is, however I've been unsuccessful getting into EV mode. The other morning I drove a couple of miles, stopped, set the parking brake, and it went into EV mode. As soon as I released the parking brake and put it into gear, it came out of EV mode. I'll have to try the suggestion of putting it in EV mode while moving. Thanks,
  3. While trying to master or perhaps I should say, learn all of the controls and electronics, I've been unable to turn on and try EV mode. Followed the manual's instructions and made sure I wasn't in the situations when the manual says it won't turn on and yet I still can't turn it on. My wife stopped by the dealership and service person indicated you don't turn it on, it just happens. When I try to turn it on using the menu and enter switches on the steering wheel, the display always indicates the mode is not available. Is it automatic, as service person indicated, or manual and I don't know the secret to turn it on. Thanks, Buk
  4. Raja, Here is what I did and suggest if your problem is continuing you at least give this a try. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone and tell it to forget the car. Then turn Bluetooth off and hard restart the iPhone (holding the home and power buttons until the white apple shows up and then release both buttons.) In the car delete or unregister your iPhone. Start with a clean slate on all devices. After the iPhone has started up, then follow the directions in the car's manual and then turn on the Bluetooth on the iPhone. We have three iPhones. One generation one, my wife's 3GS and my 3GS. The old generation one I put in airplane mode and hooked to the car via USB. The audio of the navigation system plays it just fine. I then set up each iPhone as Bluetooth phone linked to the car. Contacts transferred perfectly. Then I set up each iPhone as a Bluetooth audio source. Then I had some difficulties and ran out of time trying to hook up my Nextel work phone. My difficulty was the battery was going dead in the phone. This gentlemen makes hooking up an iPod look easy. < Good luck. There is also a Lexus phone number in the manual you can call for Bluetooth support. Not sure how much help Apple iPod/iPhone support could offer you hooking to a car.
  5. I went here to send a bug report to Apple <http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html> Where would I go to send something to Lexus? Thanks,
  6. Eldor, It's too early for me to comment about your comments about the 450h, as I've only got 150 miles on the car so far and haven't formed too many opinions pro or con. However I agree about the iPod implementation, scrolling or lack thereof is a pain. Though I was surprised in the amount of integration it does have. I expected much worse. I do miss something our Nissan had as part of the navigation system and that is "Bird-eye View". I used it exclusively. I was pleasantly surprised with the interstate view in the Lexas nav. Showing a pictograph of exits with a "countdown" bar till the exit is nice. I've only used a couple navigation systems, not nearly as many as you, but initially I like the Lexus system. I had no expectation of using it while driving, I assumed that was typical for all OEM nav systems. Having the passenger operate the system would be a plus. If they could put a sensor in the passenger seat and on the top of the remote touch, maybe they monitor who is controlling the nav and make it work. Using eDestination is a pleasure. I'm hoping it will improve with updates over time. Entering destinations on my laptop and downloading them to the car is a pleasure and very easy. Now if they can improve that with multiple stops, that would be great. Getting used to having the engine stop a few dozen times a day is going to take some getting used to! Buk
  7. I agree in what you are saying. Someone pointed me to this video and it demonstrates the problem you are referring. One of the comments implies it is an Apple problem. < I'm new to Lexus and just got an RX and was thankful that I was able to plug in my iPhone in the USB port and be able to control it at all. I had been plugging into the RCA ports of the DVD player on a Nissan prior to the RX. No control whatsoever of the iPhone that way. Is there an email address at Lexus we can send suggestions about the functionality of the iPhone/iPod/USB connection? I haven't been around Lexus autos long enough to know if they ever do firmware/software updates. Or is just in model year updates in the vehicle. Buk
  8. Raja, I'm sorry to say, our iPhones paired beautifully with one exception. At the dealership, we handed the salesperson my wife's 3GS and he paired it, the contacts transferred nearly instantly and when he switched to Bluetooth audio, music started playing. Still at the dealership but no salesperson to help, my phone paired and the phone portion worked right away. However the car didn't seem willing to work with the audio. It continued to want my wife's iPhone. When I got home I took a cable and my old generation one iPhone and plugged it into the USB port. The phone was dead, but started charging and after a bit it powered up and connected perfectly with the audio system. (There is a flaw in the way scrolling works, but more about that later.) The one part that did not work and I'll need to spend some time researching possible problems, but my contacts would not transfer. It failed each time of the two times I tried it. I'm wondering if it isn't the way I have it organized on the iPhone. 300+ contacts in 10 groups. So I guess I had two problems, pairing the second iPhone for Bluetooth audio and transferring my contracts. I'll try some things this weekend. I've yet to try to pair my Nextel work phone. I'll see how that goes. Buk
  9. Picked up the car last night. Salesperson indicated no special break-in procedures. So hopped in, drove home and read the manual. Manual indicates typical break-in: no sudden stops, no excessive speed, no continuous speed. Tomorrow we start breaking it in. Initial reactions: nice quiet ride, remote touch is nice and I like not reaching forward to get to touch screen, voice commands nice, immediate pairing to our iPhones, iPhone plugged into USB and controlled nicely. Black not my favorite color, wife loves and I'll adjust. Buk
  10. I forgot to mention the other voting member of the family liked the black over the red. Black is a nice compromise to make all parties happy. I think I got nearly everything I wanted that I could afford. Now if it would just arrive, I could confirm that!!
  11. I agree the red is a very nice color perhaps my second choice, but I was hoping for the Black Sapphire Pearl. The dealers I've spoken to indicate it is very hard color to obtain and would be months of waiting to get. The semi was to deliver a Obsidian Black one on Saturday, but that didn't happen. Why they can't get on their computer and get accurate delivery information I don't know. I'm sure I'll be happy with the car as it is a step up (or two) from the Nissan. So far I'm not greatly impressed with the "Lexus" treatment from the dealer. Buk
  12. Yes, I've been all over the Lexus web site, the Lexus drivers' web site, this web site and read or watched nearly every written and video review I could find. I've test driven the car at two different dealerships and the car I'm picking up has nearly everything I wanted except color, HUD, radar cruise control and the 120volt outlet. So I think I have an understanding of the shortcomings of the car. I need to make it last quite awhile and want to start off on the right foot. Thanks, Buk
  13. I was so hoping that my iPhone would work with the Lexus. I have an old generation one iPhone I was going to plug into the USB port and leave it always plugged in as a audio source and charging from USB. Remove it only to update playlists. Then I was hoping my 3GS and my wife's 3GS could be used as bluetooth phones. Your information sounds discouraging. Particularly the dealer's comment about battery life concerns. Surely he wasn't referring to the car's battery. The iPhone's battery could be charged in the USB port, yes/no?? I haven't used the iPhone with bluetooth yet, so maybe it doesn't function with bluetooth when plugged into USB. I hope to get a Lexus this coming weekend. I'll experiment and see what I find out. I'm sure neither Lexus nor Apple will be much help. Buk
  14. Greetings, This weekend I hope to pick up my first hybrid and also my first Lexus. I'm moving up from a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder to a 2010 RX450h. What questions should I ask that perhaps the dealer may not cover? From what I've read here so far it sounds like synthetic oil, premium fuel and enjoy the ride and don't ever run out of gas. Is there a break-in procedure? Other information you wish to share? Thanks, Buk
