terrimac
I have a 1991 LS400. My current dilema is that the speakers do not work at all. The tweeters in the front windows do work, however. Is this a stereo or an amp problem? Any insight is appreciated.
leo
I think your speakers are blown as I have looked at my stock speakers in my car and both the speaker and tweeter run off the same wires. My car is also a 91 LS400 with the Nakamichi system in it. Or maybe you can remove your speakers and check for connection problems. Good luck
LinuxFan
I second what leo said. I had the same problem in the rear and on the drivers side. Just changed the dead speakers a few weeks ago. So give that a try.
93LSOwner
http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...155&hl=speakers See if this helps Or helps you bring up more questions. I would love to know what is exactly wrong, because I'm in the same boat was you, Terrimac.
91ls400
Yeah, the same thing happened to my passenger side speaker, just replaced the main speaker and now it sounds even better!, any questions just pm me or post a reply!
SKperformance
are all the speakers dead but the tweeters? It might be one speaker grounding out the whole system which can cause the amp to still have output but only in the frequencies of the tweeter to be heard
terrimac
Yes, all the speakers are dead except the tweeters. A tech at one of the dealer locations suggested the amp. I have had a bit of a problem with water pooling in the trunk, but it didn't appear to have been in the area of the amp and cd changer. Also, the drivers door lock broke at about the same time the speakers went out. The dealer repaired the door lock, but just said that the speakers aren't working. 93LSOwner
It can't be dead speakers, that for sure. Because, then there would have been a hissing noise; which is not present. So, it is either the amp or the power connection that is interepted.
