msteneke Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 While driving my 98 Es300 the car just shut off. When I tried to start it the car wouldn't start. It sound like it wanted to catch but couldn't. I had driven the car earlier that day and it was fine. I checked the battery and it was fine. My lights, radio, and alarm still work. I made sure that the connections were not loose. Does this sound like an electrical problem or the starter?
dcfish Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 If you were driving and the car shut off...It is not your starter...Remove and CLEAN the battery terminals and Cables very good and better...
lenore Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 When you mean catch, did the starter actually turn the engine, or did you hear clicking.?
tesponde Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 You may also want to check your distributor and your alternator if the engine made a lugging sound before it died. If it was fine and just died immediately it is most likely something electrical. Something as simple as a loose connection or a bad relay could cause this.
